Beautiful property in a great location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Folkestone Cottage for the second time for our family vacation. We love the location and the house is clean and well equipped. The location in Town Hill is far enough from Bar Harbor so you have no worries when the cruise ships come in. But most important is it is a short ride to town when you want to go!! Also Acadia National Park is on the way to town, the main reason we go! If you haven't been to Mount Desert Island or are a returning visitor like we are you should consider a stay here. There are no worries about other people making noise like in motels because there are no other people. It is truly your vacation home when you stay. I will be back again

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Folkstone Cottage (2 successive summers). We have been very pleased with our experience each time. In prior years, we had had a difficult time finding family-friendly accommodations close to Bar Harbor. There are many hotels/motels/ cottages in the area, but we needed space to relax during down-time, and to prepare some of our own meals, due to food allergies. This home is very comfortable, and despite all the great things to do in the area, we frequently found ourselves just "hanging out" at the house because it was so comfortable. While it is a bit "off the beaten path," it is still only 10-15 minutes from Bar Harbor and within walking distance of Atlantic Brewing/Mainely Meats, one of our favorite places to eat.

While Maine summers are generally not too hot, be aware that there is no air conditioning, as is true of many (if not most) of the rentals in the area. Numerous fans are provided, and although we had relatively hot weather during our stays, things did generally cool down at night.

Lynn and Jeff were very responsive to any minor issues, and all appliances worked well. We will definitely be back for our next trip to Acadia!

Immaculate, spacious cottage in quiet, peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Maine and we loved it! Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed staying at Folkestone Cottage. The house was spacious, comfortable, clean, and tidy. My husband and I enjoyed having the master bedroom/bath on the first floor, and the kids were happy to have their own bedrooms and shared bath upstairs. We were very pleased to see that the cottage was well-stocked with everything you could possibly need, especially since we had recently stayed in an Airbnb house that was lacking enough towels, plates, glasses, and utensils. Having a full-size washer/dryer was also very helpful. The cottage living room was cozy and we spent most evenings playing board games that the owners had made available. There were a few hot days during our stay, and while the house does not have AC, there was a large fan in each bedroom and easy-to-open windows throughout the house to keep it comfortable with cross breezes. The property is surrounded by woods and feels secluded even though it's in a neighborhood. We were able to keep the windows open when we were home and enjoyed the fresh air and views of the lush, green yard. The yard is well-kept and has large grassy areas for the kids to run around. There's a small deck off the kitchen with a table and chairs, and we enjoyed some of our meals outside. We drove into Acadia and/or Bar Harbor everyday (about a 10-15 minute drive) and it was nice coming home to peaceful, quiet Folkestone Cottage every night to relax. Jeff and Lynn were friendly and easy to work with and they take excellent care of the cottage. We have rented many vacation homes over the years and Folkestone Cottage stands out as exceptional!

Excellent stay at Folkestone Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the cottage for the second year in a row. There truly is nothing to complain about. Everything was spectacular, clean and well supplied. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. Jeff and Lynn are always there to assist if need be and always want to be sure everything is just right.

Thank you again!!!!

Relaxing Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Folkestone Cottage located on a quiet street with a long driveway and expansive lawn surrounded by trees made for a safe area for our grandchild and dog. Home was spacious and inviting to be in and easily accommodated 6 adults, one child and one golden retriever. Location is centrally located to many points of interest. Handy to Bar Harbor, Eagle Lake and Route 102 brought you to Southwest Harbor. Town Hill has a playground which our granddaughter visited most days. Jeff and Lynn communicated well with us. Great family time!

Impeccable Acadia experience

  • 5 of 5

Our 7-person stay at Folkestone Cottage was everything we could have hoped for. Folkestone is a very private house located quite close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The warm, modern, open house itself has a spacious downstairs and comfortable bedrooms upstairs. The kitchen was great for all kinds of group cooking. Plenty of room. Multiple cars? A two-car garage. The master bedroom downstairs was a delightful place to sleep. Being away from major roads made this a quiet retreat from daytime activity during tourist season. The wifi handled all our seven devices throughout the day as our reunion group shared photos and videos and missives back home. Just sitting on the deck and enjoying chat accompanied by the wind in the trees made us all feel at home. Folkestone Cottage was perfect for our needs. Thank you to the hosts who were also very accommodating after our visit in helping us reclaim property left behind.
