The second bedroom has a queen bed also, large shower in the bathroom, and bright windows. There are TV's in both of the bedrooms, with dish channels.

20th anniversary trip

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week-long stay at Dana's beautiful cottage. I can't say enough about this charming place. We arrived at sunset after a 13 hour drive and immediately felt like we had come home. She keeps this place immaculate! We traveled with another couple, so it was wonderful for each of us to have our own bedroom with a private bath. We picked up supplies at the local Hannaford (grocery store) and made breakfast each morning. Whatever you will need for cooking is in the beautiful kitchen. There is even a Weber grill outside for grilling! Each morning, we would say high to Nicky and Rita (the adorable horses) while enjoying our coffee on the porch. We never tried out the canoe - Hamilton Pond is right next to the property. Having a washer/dryer at the cottage was great - we came home with clean laundry!!! We enjoyed just hanging out in the cottage, playing cards, after fun-filled days of exploring Bar Harbor and doing excursions. So peaceful and serene!

Recommendations for Bar Harbor and the surrounding area: Do the Acadia Fishing Tour in Southwest Harbor (had 32 people and nailed about 400 fish!) - very knowledgeable and the fish was wonderful! Hiked Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park and ate lunch in the restaurant. Drove to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. Went on the whale watching tour (very cold so be prepared!) and saw Minke whale, porpoises, and harbor seals. Walked out to Bar Island at low tide (this is a MUST!). Ate dinners at the Chart Room, Paddy's Irish Pub, got lobster from the lobster pound (Travelin' Lobster). Visited Atlantic Brewing Co (in Southwest Harbor) and Bar Harbor Cellars. Very cool! So, so much to do!

All in all, we had the most memorable time celebrating our 20th anniversary. Bar Harbor is amazing and will remain close to my heart forever!

Great home away from home

Wonderful location for access to both sides of Mt. Desert Island. Quiet and peaceful. Perfect space for us with a toddler to run around, see the horses, and takes naps while we enjoy the outdoor space. The Keurig coffee maker and mugs with kids were very much appreciated for coffee on the go.

A wonderfully designed place in a quiet and lovely location.

  • 5 of 5

The house is spacious and welcoming. There's even blueberry pancake batter ready for the next day's breakfast.

There's a canoe to explore the nearby lake - paddle around to find the inlet and outlet for the lake. There's a nearby lobster shack that has the best lobsters at the most reasonable prices. There are horses in a nearby coral that love slices of cored apples.

All in all a great week was perfect with the trips to Acadia, the towns around,.and the stay at this place. I highly recommend it to you.

A quiet retreat after a day of sightseeing in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Dana's Cottage. It was so clean and well kept. The beautiful wood interior, along with the furnishings, gave it the feel of a "home". We were there with family and the large kitchen/great room was perfect for visiting each evening. While we did not cook during our stay, the kitchen is furnished with everything you need for cooking meals. The owner has given great detail to providing everything you need for a perfect home away from home. It was a special treat to watch the horses out back each evening. Also, several evenings the deer were out and marched through the yard. We would definitely choose to stay here again!

Very Well-Maintained & Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

As we walked into the home we were greeted by blueberry pancake mix and syrup, just what we were looking for when we got to Maine. Dana, the owner, was very attentive to our needs, and provided a warm and very clean home. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. We greatly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to coming back again.
