Nick and Karoll Williams, both originate from the UK - but between them have over 35 years worth of widely varying experience living in the West Indies.
Nick's background is the Sea. Firstly as a marine biologist and latterly as a Commercially Endorsed Yachtmaster and engineer.
Although it was originally only a 6 week contract that brought Nick to Antigua, it quickly became apparent that he had found the place he would ultimately call home for the next decade and beyond.
Nick's wife Karoll, on the other hand, had sampled the delights of a couple of West Indian islands, before finally settling in Antigua. Formerly a Vice President for Lancome International Skin care in London, with her specialty in Sales and Marketing, she was eager to escape the cut and thrust of the Cosmetics Industry which had brought her much success.
Nick and Karoll were married on a charming deserted isle called Prickly Pear - just off Antigua's North Shore, and from there embarked upon the journey that would ultimately lead to the creation of ReefView.
'All along - with our backgrounds in travel, hospitality and service - we hoped to create a little piece of paradise that is the quintessential, real Caribbean. However rather than merely unleash our unsuspecting guests upon the Island - it is our hope that with our combined knowledge we can tailor the perfect holiday to any group or given individual's needs.'
Both Nick and Karoll are passionate about Antigua's nature and its environment. ReefView's location, close to a small local fishing village near a stretch of sandy undisturbed beach, in itself offers a superb platform from which to observe some of the island's pristine coastal habitats and wildlife. And they have assembled an impressive array of 'toys' with which to observe it up close and personal - from Hobie kayaks to their own ReefView powerboat available for private charter to go snorkeling and fishing out on nearby Cades Reef and beyond.
Carole Williams purchased this cottage in 2006
ReefView is unique firstly because of its location in tranquility and seclusion on Antigua's stunning south coast - yet its close ties to the community - for travelers who wish to discover the REAL Antigua.
The Beach Cottage is truly a one off design, conceived and built by Nick himself to maximise all the best attributes of the surrounding locale. Utilising his knowledge of boats, guests comment that he has managed to create a charming and romantic 'home from home', with great air flow that epitomises the very ethos of Caribbean living.
At ReefView we are all about promoting the LOCAL experience, which our guests find altogether more wholesome and rewarding - as opposed to hiding away in a generic style resort which could be just about anywhere the sun shines.
We give our guests the inside track on 'living local', riding local buses and eating out in some of our many but perhaps less well known local eateries and food stands - and in so doing - helping you stretch your precious money that much further for maximum value and enjoyment.
Altogether this creates an authentic 'homely' experience so that you will always remember your trip to Antigua - and to ReefView.....
Nick is a knowledgeable and highly observant fly fishing guide - and simple a walk up the beach with him can be an eye-opening experience with its abundant bird and sea life.
And for the more adventurous, Nick runs personalized fishing expeditions, deep into the mangroves to observe this amazing ecosystem firsthand and perhaps have the chance to do battle with sizeable Snapper, elusive Permit or mighty Tarpon on the coastal flats.
Karoll, when not at the computer dealing with bookings, is most likely to be found tending to her beloved garden, most of which has been carefully nurtured from seeds and cuttings taken from here and there over the years. Alternatively fantastic smells may indicate she is cooking up a storm in the kitchen where she excels as a gourmet chef.
'Immersed in tropical flowers, serviced by prolific numbers of hummingbirds on the one side and with its stunning views - out over the sea on the other, at ReefView we hope we have created an environment where our guests immediately feel relaxed.'
'You may do as much or as little as you wish, but everyone should feel safe in the knowledge that anything you may need is close at hand. We will do everything in our power to ensure everyone enjoys their dream Antiguan getaway from start to finish. If you need something, you need only ask. Welcome home - you are part of the family!'
Nick and Karoll Williams
We, a family of 5, visited Antigua for the first time in March of 2016 and stayed at Karoll and Nick's charming cottage. Right from the beginning we felt at home and received a warm welcome. After we settled down Karoll gave us a flavor of the Island and what we could do. Practical tips about supermarkets, beaches, sightseeing, were absolutely brilliant and spot on. We also hired a rental car for the week which made everything very accessible. With the warm breeze, beautiful garden, flowers and animals we started to wind down quickly. Snorkeling, bbqing, the beautiful beaches like half moon bay and ffreyers beach, Henrietta's breakfast and lunch!!, eating local and simple (but Good!) at Chappies, to high end dining at Sheer Rock with its spectacular views, it was all simply wonderful. A must do is the snorkeling boat tour with lobster lunch. A full day on the water for a reasonable price with excellent service became a priceless day! I guess the best thing of the holiday was that you really get the feeling of going local. Not the busy and pushy environments of resorts, but really experiencing a week without the hassle, and real opportunity to meet real people was great. Can highly recommend staying at Nick & Karoll's and if time permits, we will be back next year!
My first feeling when we did arrive at reefview again was like “coming back home again”.
Normally my wife and I love to explore new places and enjoy the unknown, nevertheless we found our self for the fourth time at Karoll and Nick´s place.
Not only the beautiful garden with tropical flowers and hummingbirds, “our” cozy cottage or the wonderful beaches, but to meet Karoll and Nick again gave me some kind of a warm, family like welcome.
As always, both helped us in all we needed to make the stay as satisfying as it was. They love and know their island like hardly another and are trying with big effort to protect the real Antigua and its nature. Without being pushy, they care for all you need and want to know. Just ask. If you like to experience the island off the beaten paths, away from 5 star resorts, and meet real people, you will find the best home base you can wish for.
We had an amazing time staying in Cades Bay. Karoll and Nick were fantastic hosts and made sure we got the most out of our stay. They welcomed us like family. Because of them, we got a real taste of Antigua. Karoll was helpful in guiding us along for the activities that we wanted to do. The cottage was exactly like the photos. And the beach was just a 5minute walk down the lane. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing, and cultural vacation and that is exactly what we got. We already started to plan our next stay with Nick and Karoll before we left. This is a wonderful hidden gem in Cades Bay. Thanks for everything!
we had a wonderful time at cades bay. the cottage was so unique, so charming, and a perfect getaway for us since we were looking for relaxing time away from lots of tourists. the proximity to the beach was accurate. the water was warm and clear - great for snorkeling. karoll & nick were absolutely fabulous at helping acclimate us to our surroundings and even picked us up from the airport when we arrived. we explored many of the beaches of antigua and even barbuda. i would absolutely stay with them again. thank you karoll and nick!
Close to a long sandy natural beach ~ great for nature lovers, birders, snorkeling, peace & tranquility. Not far from the Cades Bay Pineapple Plantation & Boggy Peak.
