Guestbook comments from the owner

We love the gardens. Grape vines, raspberries, blueberries, apple trees and are together creating a lush relaxing place to stay while in Bellinham with enough room to entertain the family and extra room for them to stay.

Adorable, cozy, fantastic view and garden

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Bernie for offering such a delightful temporary home. We took advantage of the nearby waterfront trail and pier after enjoying breakfast in the sunny corner of the kitchen, which had a superb view of the bay. There were 5 of us and all were comfortable. Two used the huge sauna. Lovely safe neighborhood too. Suzann

Quaint

  • 5 of 5

Before I stayed here I read other reviews and was a little concerned of what I might encounter upon walking in the door. I was pleasantly surprised. Other reviews talk about the furniture and interior being outdated but it is all part of its charm. The bathroom had been updated. The sauna was perfect. The bedrooms were good sized. The beds are quite comfortable and when I get home i want to order new pillows! We were only a few blocks from the boardwalk and the view from the upstairs bedroom was a sight to see. I highly recommend the Bennett house if you want the 'home away from home' feel. We enjoyed it so much we didn't want to leave and wished we could just move in. Lol... Side note: I had trouble with the sauna, called Bernie and he was there in less than 2 minutes. Very amicable, willing to help in anyway he can.

upstairs room is freezing...

  • 1 of 5

The location of this house was perfect for my family to get together. It is old and dated but we enjoyed it. The problem is that the heat is impossible to regulate. The downstairs was so hot and the upstairs room was very cold. My adult children were up there with an infant and a 4 year old and they were uncomfortable all night. No extra blankets and a very thin quilt on the bed. I did speak with the owner and he dismissed my concerns. We won't return to this home.

Comfortable Affordable House in Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My family of four stayed here for a couple of days. The house was well equipped, comfortable and clean. The owner was very helpful with questions I had and responded quickly. The location is very good, so close to the water and within walking distance of Fairhaven. It is also a good location for Bellingham and the University.

I would definitely recommend this house and hope to return again next year.

Fairhaven Cottage

  • 4 of 5

The house furnishings, as previously stated, was outdated but I don't think we've ever stayed somewhere that the beds felt like sleeping at home. We didn't need for anything, they had all neccessary kitchen pots, pans, and utensils. The house is so close to everything that it made up for all the "outdatedness" of the home. The view was amazing. I can truly say we couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place to stay. Highly recommended!

lovely gardens and view

  • 3 of 5

the owners/property managers were very nice and helpful. The gardens and yard are lovely with views of the water and a relaxing atmosphere. The house itself was fine, although a bit outdated décor. The sauna was beautiful, and the house had the necessary amenities for comfortable. I expected nicer furnishings/interior for the price, but being so close to Fairhaven certainly plays into the rate.
