Want to take in a panorama of the Swiss Alps? This 150 year old barn has been converted to modern standards to meet all comforts.
Public transport is a few steps away and the start of many trips, local and around Switzerland are at your door.There is use of the pergola and fireplace in the garden in summer, if you want to just relax. Centrally situated, but in a quiet village, this converted barn is ideal for a couple or single wanting to base themselves for trips or just enjoy the serenity of Switzerland. I have an oasis of tranquility and cosiness.
I live in a charming 1770 house near the barn and am available for information, suggestions for places to go and see.
I am very central to local transport and the little village is very peacefully situated.
A bus stop is a minute walk away, taking only 5 min to the main railway station.
In the 70's I spent over a year rucksacking from Australia through Asia, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey and then lived in a cave on a Greek Island for 5 months. A few years later I returned to Australia by island hopping to every Pacific island, from the US to Aus and that again for almost a year. So I love finding new places, meeting new people and that enthusiasm has continued throughout my life. I work in an international secondary school, love the contact with the youth of today and just trying to keep up on all the latest technology that they enjoy.

Me and my husband were here for our honeymoon. We couldnt have chosen anything better! Before talking about the beautiful Barn i would firstly like to mention Sue and Dave were wayyy more than the owners of the property! Starting from giving us directions on how to get to the barn to looking for good deal to see the Alps was just the beginning..
The house is a restored 17th century barn! But renovated awazingly to 21st century needs! And beautifully decorated! The town is quiet and peaceful and we intentionally chose the barn for those reason but the location was ideal for us as there is a bus service only 2 minutes walk away that goes to the Affoltern am Albis railway station with frequent trains to Zurich and Lucerne. A co-op supermarket is only a 10 minute walk away for any grocery needs.
The kitchen and bathroom are extremely well equipped with central and floor heating has all the facilities one could want. As Dave welcomed us to the lovely barn, we noticed the fridge was filled with swiss cheese, juice/milk, beer/Prosecco to name a few and the pantry had cereal, coffee, rice, pasta to name a few staples. Susan was just a bundle of joy when we met her and they both just went above and beyond to say the least!! I can go on and on with this review as whatever i write will not be enough! And that speaks a lot on these amazing 2 people who made us sooo comfortable and welcome that If I go back again I wouldnt choose anything else but this beautiful barn!
We both actually felt we were at a home away from home and they were like the parents looking after us! Thank you soooo much Sue and Dave for making our honeymoon even more memorable ❤❤❤😘😘😘
I can't wait to return; that should tell you a lot about how much I liked staying here. The owners went above and beyond (and I don't even like that phrase) to make my friend and me welcome. The house -- a restored 18th century barn! -- is beautifully decorated and was a labor of love for the owners. To wake up every morning and see the Alps was fantastic. For my purposes, the location was ideal. You can walk to the grocery store and it's an easy jaunt to the train station in Affoltern am Albis. The house is near several Wanderwegs that take you through the valley. But be warned; it IS possible to get lost in the tiny village of Obfelden. :)
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay in this sympathetically modernised barn with all the facilities that one could want. The kitchen and bathroom are extremely well equipped. It is very quiet and peaceful with a delightful garden and views of the mountains from the upstairs bedroom. There is a convenient bus service only a few minutes walk away that goes to the railway station with frequent trains to Zurich and Lucerne. A co-op supermarket is only a fifteen minute walk away so a car is not needed. Walks to neighbouring villages and the local river and nature reserve are possible along safe footpaths.
The owners Sue and Dave are both very friendly and helpful, and provide additional welcome packs and travel guides that are not found in many rented properties.
It is not very often that you are able to provide a great review of the home that you stayed in as well as the owners. This is one such instance. We were really fortunate. The place is great in terms of its cosiness, cleanliness, location and the welcoming atmosphere. The home is equidistant to Zurich and Lucerne and we made good use of its proximity to both cities. Susan and Dave are the benchmark in hospitality. Anyone who chooses to stay here will be making a very wise decision.
Eine Ferienwohnung wie aus dem Bilderbuch, die keine Wünsche offen lässt. Sei es der liebevolle Obstkorb, die Kühlschrankfüllung für den ersten Tag, stapelweise Informationen, das extra Kopfkissen und viele, viele liebevolle Kleinigkeiten zum mitbenutzen bzw. verbrauchen. Der Komfort war wie im Hotel und die Atmosphäre so persönlich und herzlich.
Wir haben uns rundherum wohl gefühlt und werden mit Sicherheit nochmal wieder kommen.
Zudem ist die Lage sehr zentral und man kann viele interessante Städte, Seen und Berge auf kürzestem Weg besuchen. Absolut empfehlenswert.
