We're a professional couple from Seattle with an importing business that brings us to all corners of the world. We love out of the way, undiscovered paradises.
Steve purchased this Chalet in 2011
Why Steve chose Marblemount
We became attracted to Marblemount a number of years ago while on hiking vacations and purchased a small farm there. This beautiful chalet on the Skagit River came along a little later, AMAZINGLY, just a few short weeks AFTER we took the rainbow shot that now serves as our logo. 'Rainbow House' is being enjoyed by an ever-increasing number of friends, clients and guests who have discovered the restorative magic of the Upper Skagit Valley and the North Cascades.
What makes this Chalet unique
Wherever we are in the world, all we need to do is think of ourselves at our North Cascades property, taking brisk walks in the mountain air along the Cascade River to the Marblemount fish hatchery, watching Marblemount's famous bald eagles in Winter or the King Salmon running in early Fall. We call it a 'Marblemount Moment.' So will you!

Luxurious House at the Gateway to the American Alps
Marblemount is at the west entrance to the North Cascades national park and is the ideal location to explore the numerous wonderful hikes in the area. Some of the best hikes are off Cascade River road and this house is a couple of minutes from where this road branches off Hwy 20. All the other hikes off Hwy 20 going east are also very conveniently accessible from the house. North Cascades national park is less known but having just explored it, the scenery here easily stands with and surpasses the best scenery I've experienced at any other national park within the contiguous US.
Within this ideal location of Marblemount, there is no lodging option that comes anywhere close to the comfort and luxury of Rainbow House. In addition to standing out among the dearth of options in this area, Rainbow House would hold its own as a unique and wonderful house by itself in any location. The house has huge windows and skylights everywhere and is very well lit. Immaculately detailed log and wood construction throughout with tasteful furnishings that are even better than the pictures suggest. Everything is spotlessly clean, and the house has a number of thoughtful details throughout that made it a pleasure to stay in. Great views during the day as well as of the night sky from the large number of outdoor balconies, terraces.
In addition to the house, Steve was a very helpful host and owner that went beyond the ordinary in making our stay comfortable. He was always prompt with all our questions both about the house and the area. In addition, there was a minor issue beyond his control that he was very generous in addressing.
All in all, absolutely no complaints, and we would stay here without question during any of our future visits. The only issue would be planning ahead enough to ensure availability at this prized choice!
Thanks for such an extensive, enthusiastic and empathetic commentary! Indeed, our unanticipated issue temporarily impacting bath facilities was unfortunate and we so appreciate your understanding.
We very much enjoyed hosting your family at Rainbow House and look forward to your return.
Rainbow House was a perfect home base for us as we took in all the beauty of North Cascades NP. Cabin is just what we wanted as we took off from NC to explore an area and National Park new to us. Rainbow House is inviting and cozy, comfortable, clean and Easy! Wonderful hiking with amazing vistas/views! Thank you for sharing your cabin for others to enjoy!
Many thanks for your comments and so happy you enjoyed your stay at Rainbow House and your visit to the Skagit Valley and North Cascades National Park! Please come see us again.
This is not only a peaceful, beautiful property for relaxation but it is very clean and well-maintained. Communication was great and check-in/check-our process was simple. We based our stay here for exploring North Cascades and even made it to Anacortes to catch the ferry for the day from here. This property was JUST what we needed for our last stay before heading home from Washington. Do yourself the best favor and stay here!! Just give yourself longer than 3 nights:)
Loved Rainbow House
Location was just perfect for our visit to North Cascade National Park. House was very cozy and clean with breathtaking views!
What a spectacular house and location! We had a fabulous time exploring North Cascades Park!
Owner was extremely helpful in many ways and House is amazing- including well-stocked kitchen. Would definitely recommend!
A slice of paradise
Rainbow House and the surrounding North Cascades is a slice of paradise. It was incredibly peaceful and serene just sitting on the wonderful wrap-around porch taking in the beauty. The house is lovely, clean, comfortable with a great kitchen. We did some amazing hikes in the area and slept soundly in the comfortable beds. Try the pie at the local diner down the road-yum!
Kathy, you have perfectly described what we call 'A Marblemount Moment' which will always be there for you upon reflection—and of course, when you come back to see us!
