About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8

A sunny, breezy little jewel box family home on a protected and private salt marsh in the most desirable part of Harwichport, right off Allen Harbor, Sandy Lane Cottage affords visitors the very best of the Cape Cod lifestyle.

Wake up in one of the four cozy, bright and lovely bedrooms and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the custom-built dining table looking out on the emerald and sapphire of a Cape Cod morning. At mid-day, explore the picture-perfect shops on Harwichport's historic Main Street, or flip-flop down the road with the family to one of the many beautiful local beaches. Return sandy and tanned to take a refreshing outdoor shower under the blue sky, then relax with a glass of wine on the spacious back deck to enjoy the sunset over the marsh. At dinnertime, you can choose to grill and entertain friends on the back deck (we have a fantastic grocery store just around the corner) or set out for one of the town's wonderful and bustling summer restaurants. However you choose to spend it, a day and night at Sandy Lane Cottage is a perfect Cape Cod idyll.

The house has four bedrooms, 3 with two sets of twin beds and one with a queen-sized bed. There are two living rooms, one outfitted with TV and DVD, and the other for reading and chatting. Two full bathrooms, each with bathtub and shower, along with closets full of beach towels and all the other hallmarks of a coastal life.

The house has a full southern exposure used to maximum effect, it is full of gorgeous summer light and fresh, salty breezes at all times. It is cheerfully and lovingly decorated, having been in our family for 40 years. There are brand-new appliances in the kitchen, and a brand-new grill on the back deck with all accessories. There is also a brand new, 50 inch flatscreen TV with full cable and HBO, and ultra high speed wireless internet.

In the front yard, roses climb along a hand-built, classic Cape Cod wooden fence, and hydrangeas, lilies and wildflowers pile along the flagstone path and gravel drive, humming with bumblebees, ladybugs and butterflies, flanked by a 25-foot flagpole. It is on a private, incredibly quiet and peaceful sandy road located off of Lower County road, with everything easily accessible. Main Street is a fifteen-minute walk on a very scenic and safe sidewalk, and several local beaches run along Lower County Road.

There couldn't be a happier, more cheerful setting than Sandy Lane from which to experience for yourself and your family all the glories of a summer on old Cape Cod.

About Alecia Carey

This little cottage has been in our family for nearly four decades and we love it dearly. Ali's grandparents lived here, then her parents, and now we are proud to own it. When we aren't renting it, we live in the house ourselves.

Alecia Carey purchased this house in 1978

Guestbook comments from the manager

Last summer my family and my sister and her family enjoyed a wonderful week in Harwichport. Glendoon was quaint, clean and quintessential Cape Cod. It was a wonderfully relaxing week with all of the comforts of home. Favorite features include the expansive front lawn with the swing which was great for the kids, the back deck which was great for the adults and the outdoor shower which was great for everyone!

Magical days were spent at local beaches. Walking trips to the beautiful shops in town followed as we passed beautiful scenery along the way. The days ended on the back deck with a glass of wine after a fabulous dinner at one of the local restaurants.

The kids loved the batting cages, go carts and ice cream shops close by. Glendoon provided something special for everyone.

Can't wait to return!

Very nice and comfortable. Perfect for our group.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Harwich Port in Alecia's home. It was comfortable and nicely appointed and although it's been a very cold week here on the Cape, the house is well heated and insulated. I had a few questions when we first arrived and Alecia was responsive and very helpful. This may not be the most popular time of year to visit Cape Cod but we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

A Lovely Cape Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a fabulous stay at the Glendoon! The cottage has a quintessential Cape feel - very beachy and homey. There is plenty of lounging room and great for bigger families or group trips (two 'wings' - each with its own full bathroom and two bedrooms) - we had more room than we needed!

The house is on a quiet dirt road, but the town is fairly easily accessible - a few restaurants within short walking distance with the main 'town' center being less than a mile away. While beaches were less than a mile walk, we mostly drove since we had our 13 month old with us and too much stuff to carry.

And I can't say enough great things about the owners! they were extremely accommodating, informative, and just generally a pleasure to interact with from the time we booked the cottage.

definitely a great new england escape!

Truly, home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Our group of eight liked it so much we came back again. Located away from traffic, makes it great for walks, but also short rides to lots of cape cod sightseeing. You can eat in, grill out, or go to a variety of good restaurants. Inside is roomy, comfortable furniture, and all in cheery cape cod colors. All this and the ocean too !!!

Lovely spacious Cape Cod cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have spent several weeks at Glendoon and always love returning. It is attractively furnished and decorated in the Cape style. There is ample sleeping for 8 people, a large dining table, good seating areas and an expansive deck suitable for relaxing and dining. Harwichport is a charming town with many good restaurants and shops.

Perfect Cape House

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for the perfect place to spend your vacation on the cape, look no further! Harwichport is a fantastic cape location. The town and Glendoon alike have that quintessential "cape feel" that reminds me of all those childhood summers spent with family by the shore. The house was very clean, yet "beachy" with soft blues and yellows to match the summer sky. After a day spent on the hot, salty beach, there really couldn't be anything better than a warm outdoor shower, followed by wine and snacks on the spacious deck with friends and family. Also, what a bonus to be there during the Perseid meteor shower! Snuggling with family on the back deck and counting shooting stars is a memory that warms me up even in February! I would highly recommend this property for anyone interested in staying in this area!
