Nestled in scenic Hellgate Canyon, our home offers a quiet, relaxing, laid-back location, yet is less than 5 minutes from the excitement of downtown Missoula. Our home is a beautifully restored log house with new carpeting, newly refinished hardwood and slate floors, fresh paint, and new landscaping. Guests who stay here in the summer and fall will enjoy fresh apricots from our two trees! We cater especially to outdoor enthusiasts and families with small children, providing two bikes, inner tubes for floating the river or sledding, a high chair, a pack-n-play, and a stroller. We also provide extensive maps and information for those looking to get out and explore the area’s various biking, hiking, and skiing trails, as well as information about unique local events, restaurants, etc. For those coming to cheer on the Griz or visit the University of Montana, we are a short drive or bike ride from campus. If you like to golf, Canyon River Golf Course (voted one the best new courses in the US by Golf Digest, 2007), is only one mile away. Care to try your hand at fishing? The renowned Clark Fork River is less than one mile away, and the Blackfoot River is only about 5 miles further down the road. Missoula is also home to the Rattlesnake Wilderness Recreation Area, an incredible system of hiking and biking trails, just minutes from the house. When you return from the day’s activities, fire up the gas BBQ grill, sit out back on the patio, watch the sun set on the mountains - there's a good chance you'll spot elk or mule deer!, and revel in a great vacation. We hope to hear from you soon!

The location of this property is amazing. It is close to everything. Downtown is less than 5 minutes away, but we are far enough out of town that we can enjoy quiet nights with bright stars. The freeway is close enough to hop on and be at the airport or Reserve Street in 10 minutes, but not so close that we hear 'freeway noise' at night. There are countless outdoor activities that one can do either right from the front door, or a short distance away. It truly is the best of both worlds.
Thank you so much for the great stay! What a beautiful place you have here! Kids loved it as well!!
My family had such a great time in this cozy cabin. As much as Missoula has to offer, it was difficult to leave the house, because we felt so at home. It's obvious that the Clark family put effort into making this an incredibly welcoming stay for all. Some of the things I especially liked were: the toys provided for my little ones, the movie Frozen, and big sky cookbook. Lastly, Britt could not be any sweeter! Thank you!
Although we kept ourselves pretty busy and mostly used this place for sleeping, it was a perfect place to end the day. The bed was super comfortable and the house was very homey. I love the touch with the homemade shea butter soap. We did a LOT of fly fishing, hit a concert at the Wilma and ate many great meals at the local restaurants. A great get away weekend!!
We enjoyed the cabin feel of this property and the quiet neighborhood. Two families coming together (one from Wyoming and one from Vancouver, BC) had a great time. The kids had enough room to themselves and we were all able to watch the Olympics in the evening after our daily jaunts. The kitchen is well equipped and it is always great to have a barbeque available. If the weather had been a little warmer, I am sure there would have been water gun shenanigans in the back yard. The property is very central to many destinations. Our outings included a visit to Garnet Ghost town (about an hour away) and downtown Missoula including a visit to the Carousel and walk to the Big Dipper for ice cream. Flat Head Lake is another great destination for lake swimming and picnics. We didn't use the bicycles, but that is a nice touch. Overall the cabin is clean an comfortable and good value for the money. Thanks for making your home available.
Nice and clean home, great shady yard, easy access to the river. Would have liked to be closer to town. Very kid-friendly. Would definitely stay again.
Great place to stay while visiting Missoula. Short and easy drive to downtown and University of Montana. Also, while the surrounding 3 blocks are not much to look at, it's worth a short bike ride or walk down to and across the Clark Fork River to see some beautiful new homes and the Canyon River Golf Club. Would definitely stay again.
Other Activities: cross country skiing, snowmobiling, rock climbing, shopping, minature golf, kayaking, snowboarding, wildlife viewing, health/beauty spa
