Stroll along the peninsula with spectacular views across the harbour to Mt.Maunganui or down to the boat jetty and reserve. From the verandah of the cottage watch the the boats at their moorings and the ever changing scenery along the estuary. In the vicinity we have mineral hot pools, fountain gardens(popular wedding venue),horse riding, tramping trails, quarry gardens, golf course and eating houses. We are a 15minute drive to Tauranga City with its attractive harbourside shopping, cafes and departure point for dolphin or fishing excursions.

Pickled Walnut Cottage is a haven.

  • 4 of 5

Pickled Walnut Cottage is a haven. I take my coffee machine and enjoy a long black in the garden setting, contemplating the harbour and the hills. Lovely people and a restful place to stay. Convenient to the city and all the area has to offer; fish from the pontoon, or just curl with a good book and a glass of local bubbles... lovely!

Great location if you are attending a wedding at Fountain Gardens.

  • 4 of 5

Great location if you are attending a wedding at Fountain Gardens. I was a bit worried when we drove by 3 months earlier and saw that the owners were just a few metres away, but this was unfounded and they were great. We were not allowed to vacuum before departure, despite the instructions, and they have not posted negative feedback about the damage we did to their lawn manouvering my heavy wedding car.

The cottage setting and views are stunning.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage setting and views are stunning. It's a very comfortable and restful cottage, with a real bach feel. Limited cooking facilities but a comfortable and very restful place to take a break, set on a spectacular peninsular, close to city and its cafes and restaurants, as well as country stalls for local produce. Loved it!

Location was great if you are wanted something quiet (which we did).

Location was great if you are wanted something quiet (which we did). The property itself whilst basic, has everything you could want. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of off road parking. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is just wanting to blob out and relax.

Stay in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

What a special place, would definitely like to come back and stay again. The hosts were lovely and very helpful, but allowed us our privacy. This cottage had lots of charm, was very homely and clean with special touches like fresh flowers and cookies left out for us. An added bonus was a view of the sea from your front porch.
