?2013 Bronze Winner Golden Piwa Awards" BEST IN QUIRKY and FUN!
Discover a hidden conservation wilderness, a high country playground, an historic station, an exceptional retreat.
Off the Mapp is an historic high country merino station in Marlborough, New Zealand, set on the banks of the River Spray in the Waihopai Valley. Hosts Jenny and Roland Mapp invite you to step ?Off the Mapp? and follow in the footsteps of the old musterers from a bygone era. Stay in our lovingly restored Cob Quarters, full of mementoes from the past, or explore the station from our Kiwi bush retreat, Boundary Creek Cabin.
Hike on the Waihopai Walking Track, swim in the crystal clear Spray and Waihopai rivers, explore our conservation wilderness, help with our predator control programme, go bird watching, hunting or fishing? you?ll discover peace, privacy, and rugged natural beauty all year round.
Only 1 hours' drive from Blenheim.
The cob cottage is perched on the banks of the Waihopai River with views to the mountains and across the station. Built in the 1900s for blade shearers and drovers on the main stock route to Molesworth Station, the cottage is a blend of history, charm and offers traditional high country hospitality.
Relaxing is mandatory and made easy with separate sleeping and living spaces. The spacious bedroom offers a queen-size bed and four natural timber bunks. In the living area unwind in front of an open fire, or sit and enjoy the views of the mountains from the rear veranda. The front deck provides a perfect spot for breakfast in the morning sun.
A separate indoor bathroom is a modern luxury, and a short path from the deck leads to the heated outdoor shower on a ledge overlooking the river and our wonderful gas-fired hot baths under the stars. Kitchen facilities and BBQ gas cooking are built into the rear verandah.
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);
Fantastic property,superb views and great hospitality. Will definitely be coming again.
Breath taking location and the cobb cottage has been beautifully restored. The outside baths were a real novalty!!
Wonderful spot for a perfect weekend away from it all. Great outdoor baths and showers. A cosy open fire took the chill off one of the first cold evenings of the year - we woke up to see the mountain tops covered in a dusting of snow which was beautiful.
What an amazing and place to spend a few days, a fantastic experience! We had such wonderful time and your hospitality was beyond our expectations. Not only does Spray Point Station landscape have a rugged beauty but unique accomodation both in the Cob Cottage and the Boundary Creek Cabin coupled with the most friendly and interesting hosts makes for an unforgettable experience. We had the pleasure of being involved in a sheep muster on horseback, hunting wild goats and a moonlit shower..Magic!
This place is magic. Where else can you soak in a hot bath under the stars, overlooking a mountain valley framed by snow covered peaks - with not another soul around? Spray Point is the kind of place you hear about but think you'll never actually experience. Just book it.
Jenny, Roland, Ben and Sarah are all just lovely.
What a special time we had. A much needed 2 nights in paradise. After coming back from the outside shower looking over the river and up into the mountains I could not wipe the smile off my face! Another night would have made the weekend perfect! Will return.........many thanks for all your hard work-it was very much appreciated.
