With astounding views of the central North Island volcanoes This one roomed hut (plus bathroom and entry porch) has been fitted out in a rustic style to re-create a feel of the early days of NZ.
The Hut is popular with honeymooners and couples who need a romantic break away, parents with a young child and overseas tourists who see it as a unique retreat a short distance off the regular tourist highway. Whether they be immersed in the bush bath watching the setting sun or inside The Hut in front of the fire when it comes to the time that they leave they take with them fond memories.
We have some mountain bikes you can use for free.
It is very quiet and peaceful and on the same property as Wood Pigeon Lodge's - 'The Barn' and "The Tree House" (see separate listings for these) and is 25 minutes from The Tongariro Alpine Crossing, skiing at Mt Ruapehu (the largest ski area in Australasia) and 3-8 minutes from the cafes and bars of Raurimu and National Park villages.
For larger groups of up to 21 The Hut, The Tree House and The Barn can be booked in conjunction with each other.
The Hut's tarif is based on 2 people but there is space for 2 extras. These are charged $20.00 per person per night extra.
There is a 2 night minimum stay, except where one night shows as available between existing bookings. 3 nights is required on any long weekends.
The Hut is not serviced daily.
Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included);
Quiet garden setting away from other tourist traffic.
We had a great stay at "The Hut" . Enjoyed the rustic feel to the place, but still with the comforts of home. Warm and cosy and comfortable. The view when you wake up on a cold winters morning was amazing!
It's quite, warm and cosy! Views of the mountain are amazing and it has all the amenities you need. Great bush bath, I really recommend staying here!
Nice setting in a lovely farm. The cute little Hut had everything we needed. Even a free wifi. The log burner was my favourite, and efficient enough to keep the whole hut warm.
But you have to be prepared to get up once in the middle of the night to put more logs in if you want to keep the fire alive so that the hut dosn't turn in to an icebox.
It was a shame we couldn't go skiing because of the snow and ice on the roads, but the surrounding was even more beautiful because of the snow.
So beautiful and so close to the mountains. .Cosy accommodation we never felt cold. Four of us in the hut and we had a lot of fun, my Australian granddaughter enjoying the novelty of it all.
A cosy hut on a beautiful property with fabulous views on a clear day
The bed is very comfortable, the fire easy to get going and kitchen facilities are very adequate although basic
Once you master the shower the water is always hot. The seats on the veranda are very comfy although they don't look it
The owner of the property, Tim is very welcoming and helpful. We would recomend this property as its an ideal place to stay for a hiking holiday. It has a great ambience.
