The Bach is a 2 bedroom bach with capabilities of sleeping 8-10 people. Cooking and hot water is on GAS, lights are run by SOLAR POWER. SOLAR POWER also powers CD/Radio - this has a USB socket so suits a USB memory stick with all your music on it.
No Cellphone coverage unless you walk up the hill - nice stroll once or twice a week.
Bach is located right on the beach on the rear of a section so is very private. The beach itself is sheltered and very good for small children to play in, it is tidal as it is part of the larger inlet. You have the choice of 2 other beaches in which to enjoy the sights and sounds of paradise.
There is plenty of room for extra people in tents - check rates conditions.
Sleeps Max 8 people inside in bedrooms plus 2 more can sleep on fold out couch if necessary and numerous outside in tents.
This is a tidal location dependant on going in on high tide you can walk in at low tide- should you choose to drive to location. Alternatively you can catch a water taxi from Marahau and Kaiteriteri - which you need to arrange yourself - point out when making booking you want to be dropped off inside inlet not on main beach so check you are going on a full tide.
Minimum three nights booking please.
50% deposit required to confirm booking (this is non refundable)
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);
No Cell Phones or TV!
First, couldn't find batch, no signage. Couldn't find gas bottles for cooking and hot water and no kindling in sight. Luckily were able to light fire without it. Biggest problem was not finding the 'white box' that was mentioned in the folder as being inside. Luckily there was a neighbor in another batch who helped, without him wouldn't had hot water. Too much stuff in batch (including hairbrush with hair and toothbrushes), looked like owner just moved out for the night. Floor was very dirty.
A great place to stay in the middle of the national park
Bach was just what we expected and had everything we needed. Nice and sunny, Good sheltered deck area and good sized section which created a feeling of space.
It is everything a classic kiwi bach should be and then some - no excessive rule book, comfortable beds, large shady deck, mozzie screens on every window and door, a very well-equipped kitchen and such luxury having hot showers, flushing loos, gas cooking, solar lighting and a fridge/freezer in the middle of a national park. A stones throw from the inlet - couldn't fault it - oh and the USB connection on the stereo can charge your camera phone.
The location is absolutely amazing. The Awaroa Inlet is a very beautiful place and it is not very hard to keep you and the kids entertained for more than a week.
However, we were a little suprised at the state of the house. Most of the closets and cup boards have been filled with old stuff nobody cared to tidy up or remove. And we are talking REALLY old here (sunscreen from 2012, food "best before 2009", ...) To be honest: such a beautiful location deserves a more loving touch.
