The Old Country - Vintage Home with Small Town Charm.

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,180 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps up to 4 adults)

This is a comfortable, unpretentious, home in west Petaluma. The streets are wide and tree shaded, and you are a walk or bike ride away from the historic downtown, the Theatre District and many local parks.

Dine out or dine in, or picnic in the back yard garden. Amble to the Farmer's market (Saturdays) and take your finds home to create in the vintage kitchen or just hang around the house and relax with the modern amenities of WiFi/ flat screen TV. Or pretend you're not connected, and play some board games.

You can catch a live act at the Mystic or the Phoenix, or stay home and jam on the piano or guitar. The walls are hung with local art and the organic cotton linens are fresh and new.

Take the scenic back roads west to the coast/Point Reyes, or east to the Sonoma and Napa Valley wine country; jaunt up to SF, or explore local history and antique stores -whatever your plans you'll find Petaluma a unique town that works as well as a destination as a starting point.

'The Old Country' was the term my children used for this house after they left home. Like immigrants to a new land recalling their roots, they always felt a connection to the house they grew up in. We hope potential visitors feel as welcome.

Cute cottage perfect for our girls' weekend

  • 4 of 5

We had a fun time in your home and it was a perfect location to walk around Petaluma. We walked to wishbone for breakfast and it was so good too. We mostly hung around the house in the backyard where there were a few outdoor couches. We had wine and cheese plates every night and sat and chatted the nights away. It was also very close to the Russian river where we went tubing and rope swinging. Also close to Francis Fod Coppola's winery where we rented a cabine and swam. Overall perfect weekend!

Fun, comfortable, retro house!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! The house was roomy, clean and a real treat when you looked at all the fun, retro type furnishings/appliances! We loved the fact that we could help ourselves to fruit from the trees in the yard, and Patricia had left fresh nectarines, 2 pies from her fresh fruit, and a beautiful floral arrangement on the dining room table! A real treat! You'll enjoy this comfortable, homey retreat!

Wonderful, charming, well maintained

  • 5 of 5

This rental is just as described and it is a fine little gem. Surrounded by flowers and fruit trees, the cottage is perfect and spacious for a couple but could certainly accommodate a family. We enjoyed the peaceful setting with Ruby the outdoor cat, the vintage kitchen, the comfy bed, and the excellent shower. The 15 minute walk to town was a delight. Patricia is so welcoming that you will immediately feel at home. She was very flexible for our check-in and greeted us on arrival with two small pies and fresh flowers.

This is a great rental in a cool town that provides access to all Sonoma Valley Offers.

Cozy beautiful Petaluma cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this charming cottage in Petaluma. The house is immaculately clean and full of sunshine and character. Jessie's mom Patricia was super friendly and left a plate of Petaluma Pie company mini pies on the kitchen table along with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. These are the touches that really mean a lot to us! We enjoyed lemons from the tree in the backyard and had fun with the outdoor kitty Ruby. Patricia gave us great local information and we enjoyed a casual dinner at Dempsey's along the river and also at Sugo for some delish Italian. Also, amazing ice cream for dessert at Layla's on the main drag. The neighborhood is really cute and we enjoyed walking around. Will recommend this house to our friends, a great experience!

Quiet location, charming home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience in this home. It was so nice to meet Patricia, who has owned the home for years and raised her family there. She pointed out some of the really charming features and history of the home which made our stay all the more enjoyable. She even had gourmet pies set out for us which made us feel so welcome, just like visiting at grandma's. It was remarkable how everything in the home seemed to be original and in absolutely immaculate condition! The only slight inconvenience was that the modern day clothes dryer was not operational, but as Patricia pointed out, there is an "organic dryer" (clothesline) for our use.
