Simply and spaciously laid out, the open plan design features a beautiful modern kitchen area, bathroom, living room and double bedroom on the ground floor, with a second bedroom on a mezzanine level above, hidden behind swathes of linen.
Two sets of French doors open onto a delightful wooden deck with steps leading down to the lawn which overlooks a small, steep, riotously planted orchard garden thick with cranberries, lavender, fruit trees, grapes and wildflowers.
The owner?s own kitchen garden is to the side of the house and is always bursting with whatever is in season.
The two bedrooms have all the details necessary for a good sleep - all with fine Egyptian cotton linen and feather duvets.
The living space includes comfortable furniture and dining table and a heat pump for cooler days.
The bathroom has underfloor heating, heated mirror and towel rail, toilet and handbasin and a walk-in shower.
There is Sky, Wireless broadband, a DVD player, and piles of videos, reading material and games.
The cottage is an easy 10 minute walk to the historic Akaroa village where there are restaurants, cafes and a variety shops. Wander down the wharf to buy fresh fish, peruse the gift shops, cafes and restaurants, or book a trip on one of the many excursions on the harbour.
Extras: Cleaning (Optional, NZ$60.00 per stay); Linen (included);
Spectacular views of the harbour and Akaroa Village
Lovely property with great character. Fabulous views but steep access. Well appointed kitchen and great living areas.
Wonderful views over Akaroa and its harbour. Very well equipped. Had a wonderful cosy/ beach holiday feel about it. Wouldn't hesitate to return. Noel&Jane Thompson. UK.
Beach Road Cottage (or the Gardeners Cottage as we know it) is fabulous. Very well equipped and cosy and spotlessly clean. Views over Akaroa Harbour are stunning. Would not hesitate to return.
The location was great, and the views were incredible!!
If there was an "11" button, we would click that one.
This property is amazing.
A great stay was had.
There is only one downfall with staying in Akaroa.
That is when you leave, you just do NOT want to.
Make sure you check out the cinema near the school.
I would recommend this wonderful "Batch" to anyone needing a quiet stay away from everything.
But be prepared, you will NOT want to leave charming Akaroa.
It is quite honestly, heaven.
