Beach End is a simple peaceful beach front holiday cottage set amongst native bush with beautiful sea views and plenty of bird life. Beach End is a ten minute walk to Collingwood village. It is a real bach. The kitchen and lounge are open plan with french doors opening out to a deck. There are curtains separating the double bedroom from the lounge and the second bedroom has a loft bed and two single beds and it has a door. The bathroom is small and simple. There is a warm cozy fire for winter evenings.
Beach End has a wild, untamed garden and a lovely deck for resting on. It is located one km from Collingwood township and 10 minutes drive from the Mussel Inn and a half hour from Takaka. Rosy Glow Chocolate shop is dangerously close.
The beach is tidal and at low tide you can collect cockles in the channels. You can walk along the beach towards Milnthorpe Park and explore the trails there or walk to Collingwood and have a coffee, fish and chips, or even pizza or sushi. There are kayaks to rent in Collingwood. The Safari Tour leaves from Collingwood for tours of Farewell Spit and the Gannet Colony.
The best thing to do at Beach End is to open the french doors and sit and watch the tide come in slowly over the sand flats, watch the moon rise out of the sea, or see the sunrise.
The deck has a seat railing and is not suitable for very young children. There is a short 50m. walk down the road to an easy pathway to the beach. The car park is down a short path. The bach is most suitable for couples and families. The third bed in the children's bedroom is up a loft ladder and may not suit some people.
The bach is bring your own linen however if this is not possible sheets are available for a charge. Please note the sheets provided are clean and fresh, but not ironed.
Extras: Cleaning (Optional, NZ$40.00 per stay); Linen (Optional, NZ$15.00 per person);
It was gorgeous, the perfect kiwi bach. Location's amazing, the beach and the bush, you pretty quickly measure your day by the sunrise and the tide. It was impeccably tidy and clean and had everything we needed - good appliances, hot water etc, also great style and an excellent book collection. My kids spent hours on the beach at low tide, I could see and call to them at all times easily from the bach. Greeting sunrise from the queen bed is something that won't be forgotten. Hard to leave!
We loved staying at beach end. A relaxed Bach over looking the sea and a 10 minute stroll to Collingwood. We had a sunny, laid back back Christmas and we we'd love to come again.
Special little Bach right on the sea - rain didn't matter at all - very happy stay thank you
