Come sleep in the Trees! Cabin 5 - Robins Roost

The moment you arrive at our property and see the enormous eighty foot cypress trees with decades old wild mustang grapevines hanging from their limbs, and a 100’ footbridge that takes you safely across the seasonal creek to your private tree house, you realize you are in a special place.

“Wait a minute, did you say a treehouse?” many people ask. Yes, but this is not your childhood plywood fort of days gone by. Our treehouses are newly constructed, engineered custom cabins with all the conveniences of modern living including air conditioning/heat, wi-fi, satellite TV, kitchen and bathroom.

Picture your own custom cabin, with attached private deck and an open living, dining area and kitchen with a loft above and a master suite attached and a fully functioning bathroom with a walk in shower. The treehouses are actually attached to the large hardwood trees that run along a seasonal creek, which lend to the picturesque setting that will give you an overall exhilarating experience.

We are very fortunate to be located near a very beautiful section of the Guadalupe River on River Road between New Braunfels and Canyon Lake. Though not right on the river, our cabins sit over the seasonal dry creek bed and have 400 feet of river access across River Road with hammocks, picnic tables, fire pits and chairs for your use as well as a nice grassy area to hang out, wade in the water or tube.

Also be aware for those guests staying in the lofts upstairs, our cabins are custom built around the trees, to decrease the weight of the structure, we used spiral staircases to the loft which can be a bit narrow, but it is part of the charm of our treehouse cabins.

Since we are so centrally located, you will be able to easily access and enjoy many of the best places the Texas Hill Country has to offer including river access from our property, Canyon Lake (a boat ramp is only minutes away), Whitewater Amphitheater, River Road Icehouse, Koozies, historic Gruene Hall, Schlitterbahn and the many attractions New Braunfels has to offer, which is 11 miles from the treehouses.

Many of our guests come here to tube and enjoy the Guadalupe River and take advantage of the ease in which they can access and enjoy the river by simply walking across River Rd. to the river access. By taking a shuttle up river and simply floating back down to the river access, you can tube with your group very easily!

**KAYAKS and TUBES ARE NOT included, but can be rented at nearby outfitters. After a long day of tubing and river fun many of our guests enjoy relaxing and barbecuing along the banks of the river recounting the day’s excitement. Afterwards you can enjoy the nightlife and many live music venues nearby or simply hang out with your family and friends on your private treehouse deck.

After a day or two of tubing and river fun, many guests change pace and rent a deck or ski boat at Canyon Lake or go to New Braunfels to enjoy Schlitterbahn Waterpark. When your group is ready for shopping, Gruene Market Days or the San Marcos Outlet Malls are only short drives away.

While all of these activities described above are the main reasons many of our guests come to stay, others simply come for a quick escape from the city to recharge their batteries and enjoy the relaxing sounds of the croaking frogs or chirping crickets at night as they watch for shooting stars in the starlit sky. Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, you will find it here.

Come for a romantic weekend getaway or try your hand in the blue ribbon trout fishing on the Guadalupe. Our property is located next to the spot on the river where they often times stock the trout which makes it a great place to fish! You can wade the river yourself or hire a fly-fishing guide to take you down the river in a raft or fishing boat.

About Best Texas Travel Representative

This property is managed by Best Texas Travel which is a locally owned, small business who deeply cares about our guest’s comfort and over-all experience. We know you are here to relax and have a good time, so we strive to make each of our guest’s stays as enjoyable and hassle free as possible. Should you have any questions or need anything, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail us. We look forward to your stay with us!

Why Best Texas Travel Representative chose Texas Hill Country

We initially found this property while we were enjoying the beautiful drive along River Rd. Though originally vacant, we absolutely fell in love with this piece of land which had huge trees and really good river access. After thinking for some time about what we could do with the property, the idea came to us to build treehouses in the majestic hardwood, cypress and pecan trees that lined the creek taking advantage of the beautiful canopy view this property possessed.

Shortly thereafter, we began researching treehouse building techniques and were amazed at all the information we found (there is actually a treehouse builders organization as well as people who make and sell specific tree house hardware.) After much planning and engineering we began building our treehouses in the winter of 2010 and finished at the end of July, 2010. We love this property because of the way in which the tree-houses are set and nestled in the trees and the convenience to all the fun activities and venues the area has to offer.

What makes this cabin unique

This is to our knowledge the only treehouse rental complex in the area. You will absolutely enjoy staying here among the tall cypress and pecan trees. The creek is seasonal, though it typically runs ½ of the year (as long as we get rain every 3-4 weeks) and is very soothing to listen to. It is so pretty and our river access is fantastic! We invite our friends over often and try to stay as much as possible ourselves.

Reviewer Comments:

The property was set in beautiful surroundings but the interior was lacking basics. The stale musty smell you were engulfed in made you feel sick and obviously the property had not been aired out and cleaned despite being charged a cleaning fee.The frying pan could not be used as the Teflon has been scratched and not cleaned too. The stove top was not working.

Beds broke upstairs, filthy under beds, couches and the trash can had food all over it and inside after you took out the trash bag. Poorly maintained.:(

Reviewer Comments:

The cabin was always cold, colder even than outside as the thermastat was impervious to any setting. The upstairs loft had no lights so was unusable. A staff member said they had reported the outage but nothing had been done, however there was a lamp up there, well how do you find it in the dark. It was dirty, we paid $75 for cleaning and had to strip the beds ourselves to discover a mattress pad with a dead bug, hair and dirt on it. The bed was uncomfortable to the point we kept waking up and the pillows were hard. The bathroom had no place to put your clothes, a small table behind the door would have been nice. The wifi did not work properly, it should work on an iPad as well as a computer - it took a staff member over an hour to get it to work on the computer. The deck was dirty and half the lights were out. Website did not match instructions in cabin for checkout time, 12:00 website, 11:00 in cabin. The staff tried to be helpful but these are poor maintenance and management issues.

Visited Robins Roost for a girls getaway weekend. We all absolutely loved it and will definitely be coming back. Really enjoyed the location, the deck/porch and proximity to Gruene. Didn't get the email giving the code to unlock the door to the property, however called the # and was promptly and politely helped. Thanks for a great weekend!!!

Reviewer Comments:

I was very disappointed in the house. There was mold/mildew in the shower. The furniture upstairs is in need of repairs. The end board on the bed has a chuck of wood missing. The couch upstairs is in bad shape too. I can't believe that for the price that is charged that the burners on the store has aluminum foil on them. Half of lights on the deck area didn't work. I was actuallly checking the area and the treehouse(s) out to see if I would host a Women's Retreat there. I will not recommend this treehouse to my family or friends. Disappointing indeed, Dr. Jan McNutt

It was an awesome experience! The only thing we didn't like was the roaches and that there were no rafts or tubes included which I was told they were.
