About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6

Come sleep in one of our Geronimo tipis! The tipis are amazing. There are 5 in total surrounding a stock tank pond located on 4.5 acres (Geronimo Creek Retreat) that borders the beautiful spring-fed Geronimo Creek. Great for family getaways or rent all 5 tipis for larger groups! They look like a traditional tipi from the outside but inside they are fully furnished and have all the conveniences of modern day living including air conditioning, heating, basic satellite TV, kitchenette with sink, under-counter refrigerator, stove top and extra large toaster oven. Each Tipi comes with its own private bathroom with a large walk in tiled shower. The bathroom is located in a separate building, all of the tipis have their own private bathroom.

Geronimo Creek Retreat is an oasis of peace and fun nestled in the pecan trees overlooking a babbling creek in the heart of nature and on the edge of Texas Hill Country. We also have 4 tree-house cabins (1 bedroom with a loft) on the property and a 3 bedroom house for rent, these properties can also be found on the HomeAway site and our website.

Do you long to swim and fish in the creek like you were a kid again? Want to throw some horseshoes or drink a cold one while you chill out in a lawn chair enjoying the feel of warm Texas sunshine on your face? Envision your own cozy tipi with plush furniture, fully equipped kitchenette, private bathroom and gorgeous view, not to mention BBQ pit for grilling, picnic table and fire pit for chatting or just relaxing with your friends and family. Imagine escaping from the real world for a while.

The retreat also has a community game room with big screen TV, ping pong table and a large covered area with picnic tables and a community hot tub. The creek has excellent fishing. We have a dock with kayaks and kayaks for guests use. We also keep tubes, lawn and lounge chairs, and life jackets for your convenience.

We are also a short drive from the San Marcos outlet malls as well as San Antonio to see the Alamo, River Walk, Sea World and much more.

What makes this cabin unique

In one word: Tipi! Why stay in a condo or hotel when you can have the unique experience of staying in a plush and air-conditioned Tipi which sits on a beautiful property

The Geronimo Creek is a gorgeous spring fed creek lined with centuries old great big pecan trees. The water is cool and inviting, our location has been a favorite Texas swimming hole since the 1930s though all of the accommodations are newly built.

Mixed experience

The property manager was more than helpful.

The vacation rental was clean.

I was very happy with the location.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.

Reviewer Comments:

The tipis are novel and fun for kids. They had all the amenities that anyone would need. My son fished and kayaked and had a blast! The internet didn’t extend far enough to our Tipi, which was on the edge of the property. So it doesn’t really have free WiFi. The refrigerator was so frozen up with ice in the freezer part that it wasn’t cooling effectively. I did submit maintenance and they were quick to deal with it the next day. But, we needed a frig when we first got there, so I thawed it out and did it myself. Poor regular maintenance and upkeep. The beds had dirt all in the sheets when we first got there. Cats run everywhere on the property, they try to get in the tipis, and annoy you when you are outside. The restrooms need better ventilation. Mold was growing all over the bathroom wall and it was nasty smelly from that.

Reviewer Comments:

I surprised my son with a overnight camping event for me and the family. Everyone was so impressed with everything. The kids loved that they could fish, swim, kayak, and play basketball on the properity. We enjoyed that each Tipi had it's own BBQ and fire pit so we were able to make s'mores. Overall we would definitely return and stay longer. It was so peaceful, quiet, and most importantly everyone pretty much kept to themselves which you don't find very often. Great views and amenities.

Reviewer Comments:

My family has a great time. The creek, kayaks, rope swings made for a memorable experience. The only complaints that I have is the coffee maker was barely operational, took forever to brew, the freezer needs to be thawed in between guests, the rope swing retrieval rope can give a nasty rope burn if you dont pay attention.

Tipi #4

The property manager was very helpful.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.

Reviewer Comments:

Tipi #4 was nice and large on the inside, AC worked well. Slightly misleading as we thought there were 3 queen sized beds according to the photos and description, but there were 2 and a pull out couch. Everything you need as far as cooking and clean up. The floor didn't seem to be swept, but we did that ourselves with the provided broom. Beds were clean and comfortable. Outside has a nice seating area and fire pit as well as house shoes and corn hole game. The game room was fun to use, though many of the balls for the ping pong table and darts were broken. Other guests seemed to have no cares about leaving the room in disarray. The fridge inside that room is disgusting to say the least, it needs thrown away seems like a health hazard. Kayaks and paddle boards were fun as well, though there are not enough paddles for each one. Overall, great fun and we would likely come back.
