About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6

Come sleep in one of our Geronimo tipis! The tipis are amazing. There are 5 in total surrounding a stock tank pond located on 4.5 acres (Geronimo Creek Retreat) that borders the beautiful spring-fed Geronimo Creek. Great for family getaways or rent all 5 tipis for larger groups! They look like a traditional tipi from the outside but inside they are fully furnished and have all the conveniences of modern day living including air conditioning, heating, basic satellite TV, kitchenette with sink, under-counter refrigerator, stove top and extra large toaster oven. Each Tipi comes with its own private bathroom with a large walk in tiled shower. The bathroom is located in a separate building, all of the tipis have their own private bathroom.

Geronimo Creek Retreat is an oasis of peace and fun nestled in the pecan trees overlooking a babbling creek in the heart of nature and on the edge of Texas Hill Country. We also have 4 tree-house cabins (1 bedroom with a loft) on the property and a 3 bedroom house for rent, these properties can also be found on the HomeAway site and our website.

Do you long to swim and fish in the creek like you were a kid again? Want to throw some horseshoes or drink a cold one while you chill out in a lawn chair enjoying the feel of warm Texas sunshine on your face? Envision your own cozy tipi with plush furniture, fully equipped kitchenette, private bathroom and gorgeous view, not to mention BBQ pit for grilling, picnic table and fire pit for chatting or just relaxing with your friends and family. Imagine escaping from the real world for a while.

The retreat also has a community game room with big screen TV, ping pong table and a large covered area with picnic tables and a community hot tub. The creek has excellent fishing. We have a dock with kayaks and kayaks for guests use. We also keep tubes, lawn and lounge chairs, and life jackets for your convenience.

Why Best Texas Travel Representative chose Texas Hill Country

New Braunfels and the surrounding area has so much to offer: tons of Live Music venues, Schlitterbahn Water Park, Gruene Hall (which is the oldest dance hall in Texas), the beautiful Guadalupe and Comal Rivers which have excellent tubing, the picturesque Canyon Lake and Lake Placid which offer fun daily boat rentals and the many great restaurants located down town as well as the great tasting local BBQ and burgers in the area! We are also a short drive from the San Marcos outlet malls as well as San Antonio to see the Alamo, River Walk, Sea World and much more.

What makes this cabin unique

In one word: Tipi! Why stay in a condo or hotel when you can have the unique experience of staying in a plush and air-conditioned Tipi which sits on a beautiful property

The Geronimo Creek is a gorgeous spring fed creek lined with centuries old great big pecan trees. The water is cool and inviting, our location has been a favorite Texas swimming hole since the 1930s though all of the accommodations are newly built.

Do you long to swim and fish in the river like you were a kid again? Want to relax with a cold drink while you chill out in a lawn chair enjoying the feel of warm Texas sunshine on your face? Geronimo Creek Retreat is such a peaceful, beautiful and relaxing property that people just fall in love with it and want to come back right away.

Though you feel like you are way out in the county when you are on the property, due to the silence at night and the bright stars overhead, we are conveniently located just minutes away from all the fun activities, shopping and great restaurants that New Braunfels, Gruene and San Marcos have to offer. Lake Placid is also very nearby and has boat rentals for you to enjoy! Seguin is conveniently close with an HEB supermarket, Walmart should you need groceries or forget anything.

Reviewer Comments:

My husband & I totally enjoyed our time spent at Geronimo Creek Retreat!!We loved the privacy,& we were able to relax and enjoy our time together without someone constantly checking on us. There was someone available if we needed something, but otherwise we were left alone. The property was clean, and the tee pee was absolutely amazing!!! The surroundings were perfect for us, & we enjoyed every second that we were there!! We cooked all of our own meas, which was wonderful. We love to cook outside, & this was perfect. We utilized the fire pit, as well as the bar-b-q pit. We have already recommended this place to several of our friends & relatives who are already planning to go. My husband & I are definitely planning to go again, & maybe this time try staying in a tree house.

Reviewer Comments:

Pros: Although it happened to be a rainy weekend and did not have the opportunity to enjoy all the amenities this location has to offer, everything was exceptional. The location, recreational room, hot tub, tipi and grounds where exactly as expected. The self check in and exit seemed fairly easy and convenient. Plenty of room and furnishings in and out of the tipi to accommodate us. Con: The tipi's have an alarm system that may be a bit sensitive when the door is locked and triggered in the middle of the night due to the storm freaking everyone out. On the upside, I'd rather one verses none in the middle of nowhere. Recommendations: Explain how the alarm works. Overall the stay was great, I definitely recommend it and plan on visiting again!

Sub Par Tipi Experience

Reviewer Comments:

The tipi was a neat experience. The air conditioner / heat was not working. We alerted the property manager at 6:15pm the day of check in. We were told someone would come out shortly to check on it. Had to call back almost 2 hours later to find out they had called a few people and weren't having any luck. Finally made it out there around lunch the next day. They did not fix it. That night we needed heat. Was almost too cold in there to have our 9 month old baby. I feel they should at least supply paper towels. The water in the tipi only got lukewarm. Not all of the dishes were not clean when we arrived. Had to clean what we needed to use. And the bedding had an old odor. May be time to replace with fresh bedding. I am not one to complain often but in this situation I feel we should have been offered some monetary discount or such being that we could not move tipis and they could / did not fix the air / heat situation.

Reviewer Comments:

I stayed here with 4 girl friends for a glamping weekend. It is not true glamping, but it is cute for a weekend away. It's definitely better than camping, but not actually glamorous. Property was well maintained. They did not provide firewood as stated on the website. They provided huge logs that needed splitting to be usable, so bring your axe. There are 7 or 8 cats that roam the property and beg for food, so if you're allergic, bring your meds. The floors of the tipi are filthy but everything else seemed clean. The pullout couch mattress has a large stain on it, but if you're not using it, you're good. Also, the sheets smelled like bleach so they were obviously clean. There was a 2 inch gap under the door where any bugs and small creatures can get in, so you might bring some bug spray and something to block the gap. The hot tub had peeling paint and the water was murky, but if you go at night after a few drinks, you won't notice. To be clear, the bathroom is not attached to your tipi. It's a separate building you have to walk to. It's not super far but it's dark and wet at night. Definitely bring flashlights and extra batteries! The fire pit was very enjoyable once we bought firewood from Home Depot, which is very conveniently located 5 minutes down the road. All in all, my expectations were possibly set too high. I had an amazing girls weekend despite everything and I'll know what to expect next time!

The grandchildren ages 5 the 11 had a blast. The complimentary paddle boards, hydro bike, kayaks is what I liked because that was a savings in rental equipment. The rope swings were well used and worn them out to give grandma a break. We used the fire pit to roast drivers and make smores, it was a good time and a memory my grandkids will have being with their grandmother.
