Lindissima house on the seafront in Serrambi, next to Serrambi Resort, newly renovated. House really beautiful with decoration of charm, pool, large wooden terrace with bar, shady garden with hammocks, 2 rooms, 1 pantry, kitchen, service area, 07 suites all with air conditioning and sleeps up to 19 people - Kayaks and 1 raft the disposal of the tenants. The Serrambi Resort next door also boasts a sailing club. The value of the daily incluie service of a homemade super helpful and a great cook who had offered delicious fish stew them, tapioca, fish grilhadas and meats, cakes, etc.
The property is fabulous: the pool, the covered bar area, the patio and beach are gorgeous and where we spent 95% of our time. The pictures don't do the beach justice; far better swimming in our little area than down the beach at Serrambi Resort, and the waves lap the side of the house when the tide is full.
There is a kitchen in the bar area where we cooked several meals, a large screen TV (perfect for World Cup game viewing),plenty of towels (a rarity in Brazil) and comfortable chairs & tables in both sun & shade. There was generally a nice breeze moving through the outdoor bar, but glass doors closed off the seaside wall if it was stormy - even in full rain it is comfortable to sit out there without getting wet.
Eduardo, the caseiro (house manager) was fantastic. He speaks no English, but was very patient with my few words of Portuguese and we always managed to get the point across. We nicknamed him "Dish Ninja" because he was always quietly cleaning, sweeping, putting up/down umbrellas - anticipating our needs before we thought of them. He and his wife and children live on-site and they were truly charming: helpful, never intrusive, but friendly.
The one thing that would make this a 5-star stay would be improvements to the bedrooms. (There is a reason there are no pictures of them on the listing). With the exception of the master bedroom, which is quite spacious, most of the bedrooms are VERY tiny: simply room for a bed or two and nothing else. While it's great to have a bathroom in every room, it would be better to have simply one or two bathrooms that functioned properly: there was hot water in only 1 of 7 showers, two bathrooms had a leak in the ceiling, one had no electricity, another had a bare mist of water coming from the shower head. We also lost all water for a while one evening (which may be controlled by the city water supply replenishing the roof tank?). In the master bedroom, the bathroom was open to the air via a slatted window and was thick with mosquitoes every morning. We needed to keep the door shut to limit mosquitoes in the bedroom, so it quickly developed a dank, mildew smell. There was no hot water and the shower was none too clean. The air conditioners were also semi-functional at best; some worked well, others barely at all.
All in all, we loved our stay in Serrambi. A few improvements to the bed & bathrooms would take this place over the top - but I would go back for the beach/patio alone.
