Situated in the heart of Paris, on the unique island of the Ile St Louis, this is a charming 32 m2 duplex. Located in a quiet street, next to the river Seine, Quai d’Orleans, a few minutes from the Cathedral of Notre Dame, it is surrounded by the very special village atmosphere of the island, with its tiny streets full of little boutiques, bistros and typical Parisian cafes. You are also in walking distance from several open air markets, St Germain des Près, the Luxemburg gardens, the Marais, Place des Vosges, the Louvre and everything romantic Paris can offer you.

This lovely bright duplex is in a beautiful 17th century “Hotel Particulaire” and was completely renovated at the end of 2010.

The ground floor consists of a living, dining area, with the original beams and a separate kitchen. Decorated with taste, it is fully furnished with a sofa, 2 armchairs a dining table for 4, internet WI FI, HD TV with 150 channels, I pod dock, free telephone for land lines in France, and a fully equipped modern kitchen. About Nishu

Hello future friends, the left bank of Paris has always been home and I would love crossing the bridge to 'The Island', to take my son to play in the sandpit of the Notre Dame gardens, have some delicious Berthillon ice-cream, and lovely romantic dinners.... I never dreamt that one day I'd have a 'pied a terre' here!! If, like me, you love special places this is definitely one of them... so I wish you welcome to 'The Island' and hope you have many happy moments here........Nishu

Lovely Location, Lovely Property....but needs attention to maintenance and attention to details

  • 3 of 5

The property itself is located in a wonderful location for visitors to Paris. The apartment itself is well decorated & quite nice. Communication with the owner, Nishi, was excellent; with the caretaker, Marc (I think), a little more difficult, as his English is somewhat limited. The apartment is small - and yes, the shower is a bit of an issue - but the use of space is very good; as a couple with our niece & nephew stopping by, it never felt cramped. The lounge area is comfortable & pleasant. While we did not use the kitchen, it appeared clean & nicely laid out. The bedroom is also nicely decorated, roomy for 2 with 2 cases & the bed quite comfortable. Plenty of outlets throughout the apt for chargers & such. There were plenty of bath towels provided, which was appreciated & the offer of a universal charger (which we didn't need) was a nice touch.

Downsides? Well, there were a few. None that spoiled the experience, but enough to rate the property as avg - a high average, say a 3.8

1) The apartment needs a bit of general maintenance. For example, the taps/faucet at the bathroom sink is just about hanging on by it's hose; it rocks back & forth & awkward to use as a result. Ditto wall towel rail... Both would take less than 20 min to sort. Caretakers know about these issues, but not seen to as yet...

2) The bed had been made with sheets stained with what looked like pen marks on bottom & top sheets. This made them seem unclean - although we believe they were clean. It's a bit nasty to use stained sheets...

3) The bathroom was not quite clean. Oh, the loo & sink were wiped out & the mirror clean, but the bath/shower had brown hairs on the bottom & a clear beigey soap scum round the entire base. I'm picky about things like that being clean; that I had to clean the shower before retiring to bed at 1.00am was not acceptable

4) In fact, the whole place could really use a good deep clean. There is dust/dirt on every cabinet, baseboard, etc and it smells just a bit of a home that has been shut up & not aired enough.

And lastly, the loo roll was only 1/2 full at arrival & the only other we could locate was a 99% used roll under the sink. Honestly, is it really too much to have the courtesy to put on a full roll & maybe have a back up??? This, and the maintenance issues, speak of a lack of care & attention to the little things that make for a truly pleasant stay.

Overall, we'd stay again, but only if issues were addressed

A chic setting in a perfect location in the heart of Paris

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed at this lovely setting on the Ile St Louis and took full advantage of the local merchants, shops restaurants and historical sites which were all within walking distance of this perfect location. Each morning as we planned our day's outings we had fresh croissants from the bakery down the street, and each evening as we sat by the Seine we enjoyed ice cream form the many options available on the Ile itself. The rooms were well appointed with a sense of french ambiance that we fully embraced in the spirit of living locally. Nishu was ever so helpful in the planning stages . Marc made sure our stay was perfect including arranging to meet us at the apartment early on our departure date and scheduling our taxi for the airport . This made our stay truly memorable and we would highly recommend this location to those who wish to be in the spirit of Paris living.

Bad experience

  • 1 of 5

We were excited to spend a lovely vacation in Paris, however we had a very bad experience with this property. The unit is divided on two floor which makes the space feel extremely small. The photos as advertised are taken with a wide angle lens and are not accurate. The ceilings are low and a vent goes through the bathroom so that you hit your head everytime you get up from the toilet or get out of the shower. The clearance there is less then 4 feet. The first floor window is on the ground floor of a busy street and we had intoxicated people knocking on the window several times and speaking to us in French. There is an extra $50 euro charge if you arrive later then 8pm.

Owner's Response: Such a pity that these guests had a bad experience ... especially as most of the people who have stayed in my apartment have enjoyed their stay. It's rare that rowdy people make a nuisance of themselves on this street, but it is the centre of Paris and occasions like that can happen. So sorry it had to be when they were there. There is a full description of the apartment on the VRBO site explaining the layout and giving the correct size, specially written so that guests know what to expect before booking. Extra charges and cancellation policies are also clearly explained. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all my guests for taking the time to write their lovely reviews. It's a pleasure to know that my home is appreciated.

Sweet and quiet

  • 5 of 5

This petite apartment was perfect for my daughter and I. Although it is little in size it is packed with personality. I loved being on the island, very quiet and a welcome break from the other crowded areas. Just across the bridge from all the necessities. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Nishu was always helpful prior to our arrival and Marc and Danielle were friendly and welcoming.

The restaurant on the corner was great for dinner with a spectacular view and if you walk away from the river and turn left on the right hand side of the street with the best ice cream I have ever had.

We would definitely stay again should we have the opportunity.

Merci beaucoup.

Again, Perfect for Two

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time my husband and I visited Paris and the second time we chose to stay in Nishu's, small, but lovely apartment. It's location on the picturesque Ile St. Louis is perfect for accessing all of Paris whether by foot (many sights within walking distance) or public transportation. Nishu is quick to respond to inquiries and Marc and Danielle (apartment managers) were responsive, punctual and quite lovely to meet.

Best place to enjoy Paris

  • 5 of 5

Nishu opened her home to my daughter and me at the last minute when another place was unexpectedly cancelled. Nishu and Marc were so gracious and accommodating. The apartment was perfect, everyday we commented to each other how much we loved it. We cooked our breakfast every morning, the kitchen was well stocked. Isle St. Louis is our favorite part of the city, but it is also an easy walk to all other parts of the city. We ran every morning on the River Seine and ended each night enjoying the best ice cream on the island. We will definitely return to Paris and stay at Nishu's beautiful home.
