Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay in Shell Cottage. We had perfect weather! The house had plenty of room for 3 adults and 2 kids. The house included everything we needed and was really comfortable. We spent most mornings fishing, hiking, and hanging out on the beach. We took advantage of using the trailer to take the kayaks out on the water. The pool was great for relaxing in the afternoons. Although we didn't get to meet Pat on this trip, she was always quick to answer questions prior to our trip and even helped us locate a metal detector when my sister in law lost her wedding ring on the beach (we actually found it!). Make sure you leave plenty of time to stop at the grocery store on your way, lines were long on a Saturday afternoon. Better yet, do as much shopping at home if possible, groceries are pricy near Pine Island. It was a great first trip to North Captiva for us!

Comfortable beach home - perfect location on the island!!!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location on the island and all the comforts and convenience of home. Roomy, comfortable, beautifully decorated beach home. Enjoyed our stay and plan to return in the future. Thanks to Pat for helping to make this an easy and relaxing trip for our family .... meeting us at the dock, staying in contact, and working with any of our needs or concerns quickly.

Great location on North Captiva

  • 5 of 5

House is great, liked this location on the island better than some other spots. The Levins are accessible and helpful owners. We enjoyed the beach, pool and wildlife here. Kids enjoyed shelling. I was also able to do a treasure hunt with them around the island which was so cool. Relaxing to walk and cart everywhere. Such a unique location which we found quite by accident and so glad we tried it. Tip to first timers: prepare that grocery list carefully. You can get a few staples on the island but not produce or frozen goods. We did well but just emphasizing the preparation needed.

Fantastic Week

  • 5 of 5

We booked Shell Cottage because we were looking for a home on the island that had all the amenities but still had the cottage feel. And that is exactly what we received. A short ferry ride over was a fun way to start the vacation. Pat and Tom met us at the dock as planned. A short drive in golf carts and we arrived at the home. The upper level of this home and been beautifully renovated to include a fresh island feel, wonderful linens, great bathrooms and a kitchen with everything that you would ever need and more. The upper level porch on this home provides a relaxing place for morning coffees, reading a book and outdoor dining. The lower level includes a beautiful pool surrounded by lush planting and great dining area (especially at night under the stars) The beach access at the end of the street provides one of the best beaches with daily dolphin sightings and sunsets to die for. Would highly recommend this home for small group looking for relaxing week in a quiet atmosphere. Enjoyed dinners at local restaurants and renting a boat was also a highlight for us. These owners provide an easy rental experience from beginning to end. Thank you Pat and Tom

Adorable comfy cottage with fantastic hosts

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time staying at Shell Cottage. Wonderfully decorated and updated, the cottage had a very "homey" and welcoming feeling upon entering. Pat has made sure the cottage is stocked with everything you need to spend comfortable days at the beach - or for just relaxing at Shell Cottage, hanging out by the pool!

The beach is just a short walk away, but the hosts provide a golf cart that gets you there even quicker, with a designated parking space waiting, I might add! The golf cart not only assists with taking beach essentials to the shore, but it also can be used to explore all other parts of the island. In addition, Pat provides a trailer that easily attaches to the golf cart, so we could use it to help transport the kayaks (also provided) to another part of the island where it's easy to launch them. Therefore, we also got to spend time ON the water, paddling around. And yes, we got lucky and had dolphins swim and splash around our kayaks! It can happen! Definitely something we will never forget! :)

I want to make sure I emphasize how nice it was to work with Pat and her husband. She makes sure to pick you up from the ferry and brings you (and your luggage) to Shell Cottage, where she points things out to help familiarize yourself. Pat also made sure to bring us down to tour the ground level where the heated pool is, as well as a pool house that contains a bathroom for convenience. I particularly appreciated the very nice and modern outdoor shower, which has good water pressure and also offers soap, body wash, etc. for you to use.

Pat was very responsive if we needed anything, and made sure to resolve any issues that came up. Pat is just an overall fantastic host, who is willing to go that "extra mile" to ensure you have a stress-free trip.

As a previous review mentioned, for doing laundry, only detergent is available to use. If you are someone who needs fabric softener or dryer sheets, or in fact really plans on doing a lot of laundry, I would advise you to bring your own supplies. That's not a criticism, just a "heads up."

We absolutely loved staying at Shell Cottage - I hope someday to return! Thank you Pat!!!
