Grachtengordel Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Attached Unit, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Very nice and charming apartment (55 sq M.) in a recently renovated canalhouse, built on one of the smaller canals (lijnbaansgracht). Located in the old city center in the district called the 'Jordaan' .

The Jordaan is a lively but quiet, picturesque, local, authentic, safe and friendly neighborhood, scattered between and around the Amsterdam canals. It is just off the noisy commercialized tourist zone but with everything right on your doorstep: small streets and squares, tree-bordered canals, loads of monuments, a variety of small restaurants, bars, terraces and all sorts of shops (amongst which supermarkets, bakery, evening shop, etc.). There is a street market around the corner every Saturday (also organic food) and Monday (also flea market). Amsterdam Central Train Station is only a 15-minutes walk away. Anne Frank House only 5. You can get everywhere easily by foot but if you prefer also by public transport

The apartment has a private entrance. Once inside the apartment you enter the living/kitchen (ground level). The living has a very nice couch. (if necessary you can sleep on it)

Through the windows you can see the boats pass by. The kitchen is fully equiped. A good bottle of Chardonnay awaits you. The nespresso coffee machine is ready. George Clooney made sure there is a supply of cups.

The stairs down lead to the 'souterrain' where the master bedroom is located. Attached to it is a small second bedroom 'or attached unit' (6 sq. meters) where you can find a bunkbed and a closet. The bathroom is also located on this floor. It has a very nice and large bath and a seperate shower unit.

The whole apartment is tidy, new and clean and has a nice wooden floor.

The apartment is easy to reach from Central-Station by citybus 21 (4th stop is Marnixplein) Only 2/3 minutes walk to the apartment.

About Danny Veerman

My name is Danny, I have two kids, Sarah and Yuri.

Danny Veerman purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Danny Veerman chose Amsterdam

We decided to buy this apartment because we have seen it being completely renovated and we really like this area. I live in this neighborhood for 15 years now and we love it. Its the city, but it feels like a village.

What makes this apartment unique

Amsterdam is great by foot, bike and boat. Bikes are available everywhere in Amsterdam (nearest on Bloemgracht).

I also own a small boat. If the weather is fine and my schedule allows it, maybe I'll take you for a ride. If not, there is a rental company nearby. It's really worth your while.

The apartment is brand new, clean and comfortable.

Great and Quiet

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at Danny's apartment during May 2016 with my wife and teen daughter.

The apartment was overall very nice. the entrance is the living room, kitchen, dining area and down stairs (not as steep as I thought it would be) is the main bedroom, attached sleeping quarter (for kids...) and the bathroom. A little bit of maintenance would be nice but nothing was urgent enough to ask Danny to fix it while we were there. When we departed, I text him with the couple of maintenance items I found.

The area was perfect. The apartment is on the edge of trendy Jordaan close to the center if you like to walk but also very accessible by public transportation (Tram and bus stops 3 minutes walk). The average walk time to the main attractions is aprox 20 minutes.

Overall for us it was very good experience and for those traveling with kids it is a perfect solution. The VFM was better than any other hotel.

We will certainly get back again when in Amsterdam and recommend the place to my friends.

Great place for a family!

  • 5 of 5

We loved Danny's spacious apartment for our family of four. It was the perfect size and awesome location. We loved looking out onto the quiet but scenic canal, and it was right around the corner from a great Ethiopian restaurant, 5-10 minutes to lively, local restaurants, coffee shops and bars, and not too far to the grocery store (about a 10+ minute walk). We especially appreciated the location after we saw how crazy crowded some of the other areas were - we were really glad to go back to our less touristy but very charming neighborhood. Danny was very responsive and came immediately when we needed something (thanks, Danny!). We rented bikes nearby (Bike City), which was great.

Great location and apartment!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two weeks with our three young children. The apartment had everything we needed and the location was fantastic! Our canal was beautiful and quiet and only a few blocks walk to the commercial center of the Jordaan. The stairs are steep, but every stair case in Amsterdam is! The bedrooms are in the basement which meant it was quiet and dark for sleeping and the living space is the ground floor with a big picture window for seeing the canal and passerby. It's a two block walk to two different tram stops if you don't want to walk everywhere. We would stay there again and highly recommend!!!

Nice location, house equipment not terrific

  • 4 of 5

The house is conveniently located on the rim of the center, view on a quite small canal.

Something was lacking (towels), something did't work (television), and some equipment was broken.

Quite below the level of other 5-stars VRBO houses.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Amsterdam for 6 nights and enjoyed our stay in this apartment. Danny provided all relevant information for our stay. He checked back with us to ensure everything was operating as it should be. It was a very easy check-in and check-out. The wifi worked great and we enjoyed the central location and easy access to all tourist sites. the washing machine and dishwasher worked great and for a small apartment everything that is needed is provided. There are great restaurants close by and the area was relaxed and quiet. We walked home late on a few occasions and at no time did we feel unsafe. We would book here again if our travels bring us back to Amsterdam.
