********* WALK TO EVERYTHING! *********

For the ultimate in convenience this large 5 bedroom house is located on Osborne Lane in the heart of East Hampton Village. A short stroll down the sidewalk brings you to all the variety of interests East Hampton is known for. From the windmills, art galleries, museums and theaters of Main Street to the restaurants, bars, and designer shops along Newtown Lane nothing is more than a few minutes walk out of your front door.

This 1930 traditional is tastefully furnished with a combination of period pieces and modern amenities to help transport the guests to the simpler time of small farm-based community living without sacrificing the standard of luxury for which East Hampton has become synonymous

The house has an great flow with an open sunny living room framed on one side by a large wood burning fireplace and mantle, set into the room on a bias. Past the fireplace and through a set of wide French doors, you are led to to the formal dining room, fully furnished with a fine China service for 12 should you wish to host an elegant dinner party.

The dining room opens out onto the sun-drenched back patio where you can pick some fresh growing mint for a refreshing Mojito or homemade ice tea. The patio has matched seating Too much sun? A simple flick of the switch extends a motorized electric awning to shade the whole patio and protect your delicate complexion.

The fully stocked kitchen has recently had all of the original 20th century cabinetry stripped and restored including period details such as the built-in bread drawer and a few select functional period pieces like the 1952 Sunbeam Mixmaster stand mixer and Oster beehive blender seem to make everything taste a little more like they were made with your grandmother's gentle TLC.

All of the large appliances are modern and updated. A new LG Fridge with bottom freezer rounds out the appliance package including a the top of the line Kitchen Aid dishwasher (with High Heat Sanitizing Option), a GE range with extra-low simmer burners, and high efficiency front loading washing machine.

Provided for guest use are also a dazzling array of small kitchen appliances including Juicer, Espresso Machine, Smoker, Ice Shaver, Automatic Bread Maker & Food Processor as well as Microwave and Toaster. There is even an electric food crisper for those who want to keep the snap in their chips even on the most humid days.

There is also a second refrigerator located in the back pantry & vestibule. This small room, which sits on the first floor behind the kitchen, laundry, and full bath, opens out onto the pool area and is set up to serve the pool with towel storage and outdoor serving gear & games as well as this utility fridge.

The second floor has 3 bedrooms as well as a den / sitting room. Each of the bedrooms has a queen bed, cable TV, and independently controlled A/C unit with remote. There is also a conventional ceiling fan in each bedroom for those who do not wish to use A/C or to enhance the performance of the A/C.

There is a full bath with tub on this floor which was recently renovated with a new marble floor and completely new tiled shower enclosure. The upstairs sitting room is furnished in a period Art-Deco style and contains a beautiful full-sized bed as well as a reading library with a variety of art books, cook books, children's books, and books on local history and activities.

There is also a shared linen closet and stairway leading up to the finished attic which contains two more large rooms. One of the attic bedrooms has a Queen bed and the other contains two matched twin beds and has a decidedly child-friendly feel, containing several pieces of child-scale furniture including musical rocking chairs.

After bringing the kids to the children's playground in Herrick Park or playing some tennis, softball, Frisbee or soccer there yourself it is barely 5 minutes until you are cooling off in the heated pool located in the privacy of a backyard completed surrounded by groomed hedges and mature plantings. There is also a large side yard which is big enough to set up a volleyball or badminton game.

About Sean

I am a film industry professional and real estate developer who has a passion for restoration, historical perspective and the tasteful details that make a Village like East Hampton keep such a sense of community. I am passionate about local food and like to garden both for the beauty and also just to get my hands dirty.

Sean purchased this house in 2000

Why Sean chose East Hampton North

Known worldwide for it's stunning natural beauty and combination of fertile soil and seas as well as a climate tempered by both the Atlantic Ocean and Peconic Bay, the East End of Long Island is quite simply a natural paradise. The spectacular natural light that graces these shores has been bringing painters and artists here since the 19th century. The pristine white-sand beaches that were once celebrated have been one of the great cultural equalizers from the Gatsby era Wiborgs and their guests, who were the actual basis for many of F. Scott Fitzgerald's characters,

What makes this house unique

One of the greatest benefits I get when staying at this property in East Hampton is just seeing my neighbors and visitors a during my frequent walks to town which is only a few hundred yards away. I love visiting the volunteers who staff LVIS (The Ladies Village Improvement Society) and finding bargains.

Loved everything about this place!

  • 5 of 5

Why we love it:

1. LOCATION

Hands down the best location we could ask for. We wanted relaxation as we live in Hong Kong we wanted peace and quiet. But we also don't want something so secluded that going to restaurants, shops and some city life necessities (yoga class or spa treatment) end up being a chore. This house is so close to the best restaurants Hamptons has to offer - Babette's, Nichol's Serafina, Nick and Toni's among the too many of them to mention. I sweat we never had a bad meal. When I mean close, it is close because we walked to almost all of them (except Nichol's which was a 3 minute drive)

The main street beach was really close, a 10-15 minute bike ride. The shopping was topnotch as you get a selection of a well curated retailers which are again a 5 minute walk from Sean's house.

2. CLEAN, WELL-EQUIPPED AND COMFY EVERYWHERE

Sean's house was made and decorated for someone to be living in there. Not the type that's all polished, stainless steel and concrete. The most important for us is that it's clean and functional and we got it. This house doesn't aim to give hotel standards, or make you feel like you're in a serviced apartment. And that's what we love about it. As soon as you walk in, you will feel the warmth of the place, a house with a character that you can almost believe that it's your own after a few days. That's how comfortable it felt for us to be staying there.

And this house has everything you need. Bread maker? Check. Bicycles of various sizes? Check. Condiments of all sorts, everything really. We had more than what we need. The pool was ace. The dinning area was our favorite with lots of sunshine in the morning.

3. THE HOST

Sean was the most accommodating and attentive host ever. Beats every concierge I've met! And we've travelled all over the world in top cities from London, Tokyo, Milan etc. He will list everything from food, farm fresh eggs, train schedules even booked us a spot on the jitney just in case we decide to take it back to the city.

I could go on and on about this place. This has got to be one of my favorite holidays ever!

Owner's Response: Wow Jennifer, I am so glad you had such a special time at my house and I can see that it's character and warmth were truly appreciated. That means something to me. You were not my typical renters as there were just the two of you, but I am happy we could work out an arrangement within your budget for you to stay during what is often my favorite time of year to be there. The weather certainly could not have been better for you to enjoy all the area has to offer. I could tell by the condition in which you left the house that you were thoughtful stewards during your 9 day stay. Thank You for taking such care, it makes any time I spent to facilitate your enjoyment during the rental all worth while. I do hope I will get the opportunity to play host again to you when your travels bring you back to this hemisphere. By then I am hoping to have finished the Artists' Studio into a small separate apartment and should be in a position to again offer the type of discount to an individual couple that I was able to offer you this year.

A wonderful fall getaway.

  • 5 of 5

My daughter got married over the summer and they will be soon be moving away for work. We decided to start a yearly family reunion tradition and chose this beautiful home for our first one. Couldn't have been happier with our choice. Such a great location in this charming town. We made or bought picnic lunches nearly everyday and just walked till we chose another tranquil spot to enjoy our meal surrounded by nature. Our host provided excellent suggestions and left us a local hiking guide which never failed to deliver.

Even though it was the end of September, we lucked out and had some very warm and sunny days so the pool was also enjoyed more than we anticipated.

We are all looking forward to returning again, hopefully next year.

Another Fantastic Time

  • 5 of 5

My cousin Laura, who lives in New York rented this place last year while we were visiting from Germany. It was one of the highlights of our visit so this year we timed our visit to be able to come back. It ended up being a really hot week so we were so glad to have been out of the city for that time. The house stayed nice and cool but mostly we couldn't stay out of the pool. So refreshing.

There was some kind of fancy outdoor smoker that Laura had learned how to use since last year. We tried smoking meats and fish and had a nice supply of delicious local fresh food and breads which I still relish months later. I hope our visits to the U.S. keep lining up with the house rental here.

Amazing summer stay!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I booked a girls weekend here in June and had an amazing trip! Everything is walking distance - town, beach, etc. Great pool and amenities at the house itself. Had such a great time that we're trying to book another summer weekend here!
