Dean and Peggy Jo Nadler are just crazy about Port Royal. They discovered this sleepy little village after marrying in 1994 and spending time in the Beaufort area. Visiting Port Royal during trips to the coast became part of their routine. In 2009, while staying in a Beaufort vacation rental, they found this cottage and their retirement plans solidified. The Nadlers love shrimping, fishing, thrifting, the Port Royal farmers market, and the street dances. They enjoy walking around Port Royal with their two rescue dogs, Ellie and Rainy. Several years away from retirement, the Nadlers decided to share Port Royal and their cottage with vacationers. They are especially glad to host Marine families coming down to celebrate graduation from Parris Island with their new Marine - OORAH!! They issue only one warning: once you've experienced Port Royal, you'll be hooked, just like they are!!
Peggy Jo Nadler purchased this cottage in 2011
This little cottage has it all. While it looks like an older cottage, it was VERY WELL built in 2004. The open floor plan is simple and very comfortable. Everything happens in the great room/kitchen: the cathedral ceilings create a wide-open space, and the knotty pine floors add warmth. Lots of windows bring great light into the space. The cottage is located in a quiet residential area with friendly neighbors. Walking around the village and watching stars at night is wonderful, and a short walk to the Sands Beach at sunrise or sunset is particularly enjoyable!
New construction means clean lines, TONS of storage and new appliances. Outside, the tiny front and back yard are easy maintenance. The screened porch is SO RELAXING for morning coffee or wine before bedtime. The fire pit and patio chairs are perfect for cool evenings.

The cottage was a perfect spot for relaxing and a great base from which to explore the low land country. The front porch has been screened since this photo and it was a perfect spot for coffee or happy hour! The kitchen was stocked. It was helpful to have the laundry. The owners provided information about dining and sight seeing. The neighborhood is safe. A few restaurants are within walking distance. It's a short drive to grocery stores, restaurants, Star Bucks, the river walk in Beaufort, etc. We would definitely recommend this for people who want to relax and/or see the sights and enjoy this part of the US!
The owners thought of everything to ensure you have a comfortable stay. This house was perfect for us. There was 6 of us. Also very clean and beautifully decorated. We stayed here when our son graduated Marine boot camp and it was 2 miles from base. Great for those early mornings for sure! If we came back down to SC we would try to stay here before any hotel/motel! Owners are very positive, upbeat and very willing to answer any questions you may have. I will definitely recommend this home to others! The only downside was we hated to leave!
First time using HomeAway. Wonderful experience.
Great location to Parris Island. We felt safe in leaving our furbabies there while we were gone. We liked the quiet area and everyone on the street were friendly. Everyone enjoyed the open floor plan. Thank you for letting us stay with our babies
The owners were great and the house was reasonably priced. Great place to stay for a vacation, I highly recommend.
We had a wonderful time over the christmas holidays. The location is perfect for day trip to Charleston or Savannah too and all the islands in between. We would like to thank Dean and Peggy for giving my family a holiday to remember.

The Port Royal farmers market is a MUST SEE on Saturday mornings. Great produce, artisanal coffee, breads, pastas, cheeses and oils, baked goods, fresh seafood, organic and farm-raised meats, eggs and vegetables, landscape plants, and fresh kettle corn! Prepared food ranges from BBQ to wood-fired pizza, to Indian cuisine and more. THRIFTING is GREAT in this area, with a guide to many shops in the Beaufort/Port Royal/Bluffton/Hilton Head area. You could spend a week just visiting all the thrift, consignment and antique shops! Savannah is only 45 miles away, Charleston is 75; both make great day-trips from this location. Don't miss downtown Beaufort just 5 miles away, a very old port town, reminiscent of Charleston, but smaller.
