About Peggy Jo Nadler
Dean and Peggy Jo Nadler are just crazy about Port Royal. They discovered this sleepy little village after marrying in 1994 and spending time in the Beaufort area. Visiting Port Royal during trips to the coast became part of their routine. In 2009, while staying in a Beaufort vacation rental, they found this cottage and their retirement plans solidified. The Nadlers love shrimping, fishing, thrifting, the Port Royal farmers market, and the street dances. They enjoy walking around Port Royal with their two rescue dogs, Ellie and Rainy. Several years away from retirement, the Nadlers decided to share Port Royal and their cottage with vacationers. They are especially glad to host Marine families coming down to celebrate graduation from Parris Island with their new Marine - OORAH!! They issue only one warning: once you've experienced Port Royal, you'll be hooked, just like they are!!
Peggy Jo Nadler purchased this Cottage in 2011
Why Peggy Jo Nadler chose Port Royal
This little cottage has it all. While it looks like an older cottage, it was VERY WELL built in 2004. The open floor plan is simple and very comfortable. Everything happens in the great room/kitchen: the cathedral ceilings create a wide-open space, and the knotty pine floors add warmth. Lots of windows bring great light into the space. The cottage is located in a quiet residential area with friendly neighbors. Walking around the village and watching stars at night is wonderful, and a short walk to the Sands Beach at sunrise or sunset is particularly enjoyable!
What makes this Cottage unique
New construction means clean lines, TONS of storage and new appliances. Outside, the tiny front and back yard are easy maintenance. The screened porch is SO RELAXING for morning coffee or wine before bedtime. The fire pit and patio chairs are perfect for cool evenings.

Peggy's home made us fall in love with Port Royal
We absolutely loved the home. Clean and comfortable with so much room. House is nicely laid out and beautifully decorated. Everything you need was there and then some. We fell in love with Port Royal and it's charm. I hate staying in hotels or places that have so many other guests but this home was so immaculate and comfortable it took all my stress away. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful home and making our vacation and new Marine graduation a memorable once in a life time experience. We read all the reviews prior to booking this home and they were all accurate to a "T". Everything is labled and neat and there is literally everything supplied you could ever need to feel at home. The street was so peaceful and quiet and everyone we met in Port Royal was super nice and friendly. You just couldn't help being in a good mood there. It's super close to Parris Island and shops and we enjoyed the Saturday music in the main street. Spent most of our time on the beautiful pier fishing for Blue crabs. I even caught 2 baby sharks and an eel. 5 star place Peggy! thank you so much for sharing this wonderful home. Gina and Joe Pittsburgh PA
Thanks for use of bicycles and pass to state park. Very charming cottage ❤️
Perfect and had everything we needed available.
Peace and Quiet in a Lovely Setting
We absolutely loved our weekend stay at the cottage. So glad we were able to travel with our dogs! The doggy door and fenced in backyard were perfect. Sitting on the porch with a cold drink watching the spanish moss dance in the trees was exactly what we needed to reset and escape the never-ending Ohio Winter of 2018.
This cottage has everything you could possible need and more. Toiletries, kitchen supplies, etc. Everything is labeled and easy to find which I appreciate so much! Made the stay that much more relaxing.
We could have stayed at the cottage all day but ventured to the Sands Beach for sunrise and to hang out one afternoon and Cypress Wetlands park for an afternoon walk.. such a cool place! You cannot skip this. We checked out the Farmers Market on Saturday morning which had awesome locals goods. We spent Sunday morning exploring Hunting Island. We walked about 5 miles of trails and each one has something different and cool to offer! So amazing this park pass was included with the home rental. It was windy but laying on a blanket on the beach with our pups after our long walk was so relaxing.
Overall amazing place to travel and if you have dogs don't leave them at home! Everything here is pet friendly and we all had a wonderful time. Stay at this cottage!!!
We are so glad you enjoyed your visit and agree that this Cottage is the perfect place to relax! Our goal is to have everything you need. We are pet lovers too and are happy to welcome yours to our Cottage. Please visit us again anytime!
While contemplating retirement in the south, I rented this cottage for 6 months, from autumn until spring. The house is, simply, perfect. It has everything you could want or need...comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, linens and a wealth of information on interesting things to do in the area. The street is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. A huge plus for me was being able to rent with my dogs, which many places don't allow. Port Royal is a delightful little town, good for walking to the Sands for both the sunrise and sunset or watching the birds at the Cypress Wetlands. But the best thing about this rental are the owners, Peggy and Dean. They are conscientious about keeping the house clean and the yard neat. They take care of every need, are readily available and could not be any nicer. I can't imagine there is a nicer rental anywhere around. I highly recommend this cottage!
Highly recommend staying here! Very clean and convenient!!!
We loved it!!!
Hunting Island State Park has a beautiful public beach. Nature lovers will enjoy exploring Ace Basin National Wildlife Refuge and Donnelly Wildlife Management Area. The Port Royal farmers market is a MUST SEE on Saturday mornings. Great produce, artisanal coffee, breads, pastas, cheeses and oils, baked goods, fresh seafood, organic and farm-raised meats, eggs and vegetables, landscape plants, and fresh kettle corn! Prepared food ranges from BBQ to wood-fired pizza, to Indian cuisine and more. THRIFTING is GREAT in this area, with a guide to many shops in the Beaufort/Port Royal/Bluffton/Hilton Head area. You could spend a week just visiting all the thrift, consignment and antique shops! Savannah is only 45 miles away, Charleston is 75; both make great day-trips from this location. Don't miss downtown Beaufort just 5 miles away, a very old port town, reminiscent of Charleston, but smaller.
