|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Welcome to La Casa Azul. If you fly across from the mainland look to your right as you approach the airstrip- you will see our blue house.
We are in a secluded area that is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy your stay. Swimming and snorkeling are right off the patio. 2 nearby piers provide an easy place to drop a fishing line. Large screened windows and doors provide cooling tropical breezes to sleep under. A short 10 minute ride on the bikes that are furnished will get you into town to enjoy some of the best food in the Caribbean. If you aren't a bike rider, gas golf cart rentals or taxis are readily available to help you get around. World class fishing, diving and snorkeling are available through the many first class guides on the island.
This is the perfect place for a couple or family who wants to relax and enjoy the ocean. The Island motto is 'Go Slow'. Many restaurants have sand floors, no cars on the island, sand streets - really a calm caribbean vibe. Leave your dress clothes at home. Our house reflects that attitude. Nothing fancy, just a really cool place to hang out and relax.
You will have decks on 2 different levels to enjoy the views of the ocean, island, and the surrounding cayes. At night you will be able to see stars that were never before visible. This is truly a special place to spend your vacation.
The area we are in has no electricity or city water system. The house is totally solar and rainwater is captured to supply the house. The water is filtered, then passed through a UV sterilizer to kill any bacteria. Since there is not an unlimited water supply some restraint should be used on long showers. We stay for around 2 weeks at a time, with 5-6 people, and haven't run low.
In case of having several days with out sunshine, we have a back up generator for power. We run fans, hair dryers, curling irons, and many personal electric devices with no problems.
Our caretaker, Michael, will meet you and get you settled in. He is a valuable resource for recommendations on restaurants, tour guides, fishing guides, etc. Michael can also arrange for a gasoline golf cart to rent. The cell phone that is provided will have his and other handy numbers programmed in.
This is an ideal location to chill out and recharge.

We recently celebrated our 25th. wedding anniversary. Mark works for a small independent oil & gas company, Susan is a self employed hair stylist.
Mark & Susan are owned by two chihuahuas; Ed and Bella, who love to travel.
Mark & Susan Walker purchased this house in 2008
After visiting Belize several times we decided that it was the ideal place to escape the Oklahoma winters. The short airline trip to Belize, as well a the friendly reception we get going through customs sold us.
Caye Caulker is really a special place to us. Thankfully it has managed to retain it's laid back personality. The fact that there are no cars on the island is great.
We have made many friends in our travels here. Hopefully within a few years we will be able to spend 3-4 months at a time there.
Our home is located on the south end of the island facing the west. We are about a 10 minute bike ride into town.
The calm evening waters and sunset views are some of the best on the island. When you get back home you will have tons of sunset pictures (can't help it). Even the most type A personalities usually end up spending most of their time just looking at the water.
Dolphin, Manatee, Eagle Rays, Bonefish, and dozens of other birds and reptiles are visible from the decks.
Swimming and snorkeling in front of the house is amazing. You can go out several hundred feet and still stand up. We have several air mattresses to use.
Most days we spend entirely at the house, swimming, reading, napping, and watching the airplanes. We will usually go into town at night for our evening meal and ice cream.
Cool place right on the ocean. It was perfect for my husband and I, and our friend! It was off the main strip a bit, so having bikes and a golf cart helped.
We had such a wonderful time at your place on Caye Caulker. Your home is truly spectacular and Caye Caulker itself is one of the most quaint and charming places we have ever visited. We truly enjoyed every minute of our trip. You really have a great spot there and I don’t know how you ever leave! It was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable trips that we have ever taken and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Our original plan was to celebrate our anniversary with a trip to Greece, but somewhere along the planning stages I stumbled upon your beautiful home and knew right away that was where we had to go. We don’t regret that decision one bit. Every day was an adventure, from our encounters with crockie in the mornings to the crazy crabs running sideways across the airstrip in the evenings to the you-never-know-what-you-might-score at the veggie stands in town to dodging the water filled craters on the always interesting bike rides into town. Our encounters with the locals were always enjoyable and interesting and I don’t think we have ever traveled anywhere where we felt more welcome. You have a true gem in Michael. We wish we spent more time getting to know him. The evenings that we enjoyed dinner in town were always interesting and each and every one was a very different experience. While we didn’t have one disappointing meal the entire 2 weeks, I think our favorite meals were at Fantasy Dining, Rose’s and Habanero’s, but our favorite dining experience was definitely Wish Willy’s. We did venture off the island too. One of the highlights was definitely a trip to the mainland to visit the Mayan ruins at Xunantunich & Cahal Pech as well as an incredible day of snorkeling w/Romeo at Carlos Tours. All in all it was an amazing adventure and one we will certainly never forget. Go slow....
My wife and I took our honeymoom to Belize looking for a relaxing beach vacation, this house on Caye Caulker was a perfect spot. Everything we experienced exceeded our expectations. We were very appreciative of the assistance that Michael the local caretaker provided during our stay. He was courteous, helpful, informative and he was a great source of information, including helping us with some fresh coconut water! He had lots of great tips and insight to the island, we followed some of his suggestions for tours and dining, and they were all top notch.
The house was immaculate and we actually ended up skipping a few of our planned activities because we were enjoying just being at the house so much. We really liked every aspect of the house especially the exterior decks looking over the water. We spent hours sitting outside taking in the views, multiple sightings of the rays feeding in the mornings, birds, dolphins, fish, boats, and sunsets. Everything in the house worked great and riding the bikes around the island was terrific.
Renting with the owners was seemless and they also provided great information about the house and island. We would highly recommended this vacation home to family and friends and we cherish all the beautiful photos and videos of the trip, we actually hope to come back some day. After travelling around almost the entire island we think La Casa Azul has the perfect setup.
I can't begin to say enough great things about Casa Azul and it's owners. This most recent trip made our 10th visit to Caye Caulker. In the past we have rented other houses on the island, however not a single one comes anywhere close to the experience of Casa Azul. The house itself is more than just a rental property. It is truly a home. Pictures of Mark and Susan(and the kids) adorn every room in the house and it has a wonderful "lived in" feel... not just some rental property(i think Mark even had some clothes in the closet... heh). The house is impeccably clean and is decorated in standard Belizian style with local furniture and art. Communication with the owner, Mark couldn't have been better. He always promptly returned emails. We now consider him to be a great friend. You couldn't rent from a better guy!
Located at the far end of the airstrip, Casa Azul is set off a little from the hustle and bustle of town. It feels like the island is practically all yours with no one else in sight. The view from the veranda is absolutely amazing. The third story of the house(master bedroom level) sits about 20 feet above the tree tops so you have a fantastic 360 degree view of the island. You can watch both the sunrise and sunset from this elevation. Every morning, we sat in our hammocks and watched the spotted eagle rays feeding right in front of the house(and on two mornings we even saw dolphins playing).
In the past, we've stayed in other houses on the island that required us to bring just about everything(sheets, towels, TP, etc.), but Casa Azul is very well stocked(much better than we had expected). The house comes complete with fresh linens, towels, local cell phone, ipod, bikes, snorkel gear, fishing equipment, and a variety of other amenities to make your stay perfect. There are also plenty of dishes and cooking supplies(nice grill, pots, pans, knives, etc). In the spirit of "pay it forward", we noticed plenty of other useful items that seem to have been purposely left behind by previous guests: bug spray(not needed too badly), sunblock, flashlights, books, and even a bottle or two of rum(not sure if thats standard, but someone left it behind and we graciously accepted the gift and left some in return).
We'll definitely be renting this house again next year!!!!!!

The house and location were beautiful. We had no problem with power or water. The house was clean and nicely decorated. The only downside were the sand flies. I don't know if we were there at a particularly bad time for them. 4 of us were eaten alive and deet and baby oil did nothing to protect us. I wonder if mosquito netting would make a difference for sleeping. We did rent a golf cart for getting into town at night because it was too dark for biking.
We stayed at this house with another couple for 8 days in February, looking to escape the cold winter. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The sunsets (and dolphins) were beautiful to view from the deck, and the hammocks were a wonderful place for reading and napping. We rented a golf cart and used it to head into town each evening for happy hour and many excellent meals. We also enjoyed grilling dinner on the charcoal grill. All of the people we met on Caye Caulker were friendly and fun. The sand flies were a bit bothersome, but bug spray and ocean breezes helped. We would recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a quiet vacation on a sunny island.
