The properties provided the best of both worlds: contemporary and rustic camp. The main house had a beautiful kitchen that we were easily able to prep food for our large group of 18. The large cabin would be great for teens to sleep in. The lake was unbelievable quiet so everyone was able to enjoy fishing, boating, tubing, swimming and kayaking without worry. There is a shallow area for little ones to easily play, but not a sandy area to build (just fyi). The owners were wonderful! We had a great time!
This house is truly wonderful! It is not only beautiful but also also warm and welcoming. You can just kick off your shoes in the entrance way and start your vacation. There were 14 of us in our family. 4 couples and 6 children, ages 7 to 81, and we all had a terrific time. The house has many comfortable spaces to sit, read, play and relax. Even the library has a fabulous book selection! Every room has an amazing view of the lake. In the kitchen it was so relaxing just to prepare a meal and gaze out onto the lake. The bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable. The lake is great. We spent hours there everyday, before and after breakfast, after lunch, before dinner and after dinner - swimming, floating, kayaking or in on the paddle boat. We even took out the sailboat one day! There are great places for day trips. We went on a family hike to Mount Kearsage one day and spent time in Warner and Henniker, both wonderful New England towns.
In the evenings, after a long dinner at the huge dining room table where we all sat together, we would play games, watch movie or have a campfire by the lake and make smores. It was awesome! The owners, Kim and Joe were terrific - relaxed, helpful and accommodating. We are hoping to come back again next year.
We were a big group staying at the house as well as the more rustic cabin. The location is great right between a pond and a lake, the lake water was beautiful and clear. The lake is on the small side but not at all crowded. The house is spacious and comfortable, the cabin is cute but very rustic, our teens had a blast over there. The owner was wonderful and helpful, the house was clean, the beds were COMFORTABLE!!!! and we were able to have our dog along which was perfect. The weather was cool (high in 70's) and the yard and beachfront are very shady, a warmer week would have been great. I would definitely stay again.
