I have a one bedroom townhouse in trendy Lawrenceville (rented until October, 2016) and a duplex in Pittsburgh's 'Little Italy' Bloomfield neighborhood that can be rented as a one or two bedroom.
All of my properties feature comfortable, thoughtful furnishings that make you feel like you're at the home of a friend rather than an impersonal hotel. Amenities include lots of little extras free of charge, including WiFi, free parking, free laundry facilities. Every apartment is equipped with a hair dryer, SPA robes, and toiletries in the bathroom, ironing board and iron.
Located on a quiet, residential street, but just a block or two away from a bustling thoroughfare with shops, banks, restaurants, coffee houses, grocery, and more. No car needed!
Less than half a mile to Children's Hospital and West Penn Hospital. Less than one mile to UPMC/Shadyside.
One mile to 31st Street Studios in the Strip District.
Transit is one or two blocks away and will get you to downtown, strip district, Oakland, north shore in 15 minutes or less.
Three miles or less to:
- Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh
- David L. Lawrence Convention Center
- CONSOL Arena
- PNC Park, Heinz Field
- Carnegie Museum, Warhol Museum, Heinz History Center
In 2007, I quit my job as administrator of a school, confident I would quickly find another job. A year later, I was still looking and turned to one asset I had to earn money: my 5 bedroom house. Renting one bedroom turned into two and finally three and a bed and breakfast was born.
I welcomed guests from all over the globe to my adopted hometown. When I began getting requests for extended stays, or individuals who wanted amenities the B&B couldn't offer, like laundry facilities and a full kitchen, I bought a small house, nearby, and this is the property that is listed on this site.
In 2013, I sold the property that housed my bed & breakfast, and buying a three unit property, so all my guests could have the amenities they told me they preferred: self-contained, private units with the comforts of home and the amenities of a hotel.
So what came out of the sheer need to make money to keep a roof over my head seven years ago has turned into a thriving, full-time business. It would be my pleasure to host your stay to Pittsburgh and share with you all the treasures this wonderful city has to offer.
Julie Ransom - owner/property manager purchased this house in 2011
These two east end neighborhoods have undergone a dramatic transformation through the perfect storm of young, energetic first-time homebuyers willing to put sweat equity into their new purchases, shop owners and restauranteurs who took a chance on a tired neighborhood and turned the main thoroughfare into one of the most bustling, energetic, and eclectic destination for food and shopping--nearly all local and independently owned!
If you don't believe me, consider this: USA Today recently named Lawrenceville one of the top 10 neighborhoods in North America. The New York Times included Bloomfield as one of the top ten Italian neighborhoods in the US.
It's for people who want the space and privacy renting a house or apartment affords, at an affordable price, in a walkable, safe neighborhood where you can sip espresso, sample antipasto, and chat with the locals.
My intention is to make this place warm, welcoming, comfortable, and with everything you'd need--whether it's a stay for a few nights or a few months. I don't want you to feel like you're staying at a hotel or some cookie cutter place, I want you to feel like you're at home. Because if you're there, it is home.
I think what's unique about renting from me is that I bring you the best of both worlds: all of the amenities you'd want and find in a hotel room (down to the SPA robes), but with the ease and comfort of staying with a friend.
As a traveler, you get to stay in a bona fide neighborhood, sharing the greetings with fellow residents as you make your way to town. Stop into the local coffee house for a quick cup--guaranteed, the next time, the friendly barrista will greet you by name and pour you 'your usual'. It's not the kind of experience you get staying anywhere else. And one of the best parts is that it's less than the cost of staying in a traditional hotel. Hope to see you soon!
I had an extended stay. The apartment was a perfect one bedroom house located in a great area of Pittsburgh. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner always was quick to respond and take care of any needs.
I would definitely stay there again!
