One of a kind space with art, great kitchen, hangout space, propane fireplace.
I bought this church from the Roman Catholic Diocese 15 years ago.
25 foot cathedral ceilings, six burner cook stove, soapstone farm sink, double shower heads, two full baths, original stained glass with beautiful morning light. House yoga mats, gas fireplace, 40" flat screen with cable and couch and stuff chairs for lounging and talking, 9' cherry dining table
The stained glass is original and is illuminated each morning by the sunrise coming up over the hill. This stunning space is the result of a three year renovation. The curved walls and archways create a true sanctuary like space that is hard to leave once you are there.
Stratton Mountain is 30 minutes to the access road and under 35 to Mount Snow. Brattleboro, just five minutes away, has been voted consistently as one of the best small towns in America to visit. If you want to ski, snow shoe, shop, eat, sip local brew and explore the town, or never leave the Sanctuary, this is your spot!
The master suite is up in the extended 'choir loft' that I built out to make a spacious bedroom and dressing room, and has it's own full bath with double-headed shower and 54" claw-foot tub.
There are two beautiful, very small private rooms to the left and right of what used to be the altar. They feature curved walls, queen beds, and a large skylight in each. There is a full bathroom for these rooms with European style shower as well as full laundry for the house.
The kitchen is a chef's delight with a six burner, two grill, double oven Garland Restaurant gas stove, double soapstone farm sink and beautifully detailed concrete countertops. Lots of counter space and a large farm table island in the middle provide adequate prep, serving and 'hang out' space (everyone seems to love to congregate in the kitchen!).
The heat is radiant floor which is wonderful for this space with 25' vaulted ceilings. There is also a propane instant on-demand glass door fireplace on the 'altar' for ambience throughout the space and cozying up to after a day on the mountains.
The TV lounge under the choir loft has couches and a lounge chair for watching movies, reading and relaxing. We have cable, Netflix and Amazon capability through the Blue Ray player, and of course, high speed Internet.
There are country roads for walking, a wonderful river to visit nearby, a great neighborhood if you want to make friends, and the US post office right in the village.
The Church is a most welcoming and generous space for one to six!

About Natalie Blake
The church has been my home since 2001. I am a ceramic artist (website is my name) I co-own a contemporary craft gallery three miles from the house called Fire Arts Vermont which is three miles from the house-- a twenty artists collective showing my ceramics, furniture, blown artglass, jewelry, lighting and more. My partner Nick bought and renovated the home next door, and we live in both like Frida and Diego. The church is technically my home, and the house next door his. We love cooking, and therefore great kitchens, and most of all, we love to create great spaces so that friends and families can let down and have a great getaway.
Natalie Blake purchased this Apartment in 2001
Why Natalie Blake chose Dummerston
Because it's a renovated church, and it's a womb. It loves having friends come to stay. I have had so many guests stay, and we all agree, there is a vibration in the space that feels like home, and loves you up with all the beautiful colors, art I've collected, stained glass, and places to lounge, stretch on the floor, or site by the fire.
What makes this Apartment unique

We look forward to your stay!

Kind of funky, exactly what we were hoping for
The pictures and description do a good job of representing the space. Lots of art and pottery all around. Plenty of space for lounging / relaxing with friends. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. The property had everything we needed. Would recommend.
My daughter and I stayed here while touring schools in the area and we both loved it. It is a wonderfully eclectic, artistic and unique space on a quiet road. It would be a great space for a "girls' weekend" because of the open floorplan. Our host was perfectly lovely and extremely helpful. I appreciated the detailed book with instructions on how everything in the house worked and where are the light switches were. Can't wait to stay here again!
Beautiful art and comfy furnishings.
4 of us. Great space to hang out for morning coffee. An outdoor seating area would be nice. Enjoyed our tour of Natalie's studio. Made us appreciate even more all the artwork in the Church.
My family came from California, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York for a gathering to remember our mother/ grandmother who died in March. What a great place to have a dinner where you can seat 12 people at one table. The extra was all the Natalie ceramics in the house - something we all appreciated as we have some. We also the loved the character and openness of the "church".
Peaceful, aesthetic, comfort.
Warm home with cozy feel, comfortable beds, hot showers and a lovely light filled kitchen. Could not have been happier.
Stunning and Unique: Better than the pictures could ever capture
Amazing experience. Came up for a late winter ski weekend on late notice and Natalie was available and accomodating throughout. Made it a cakewalk to book, and called to check in and make sure we were comfortable.
When we got to the church, it is as idyllic as one could imagine. Set in a little village about 15 mins north of Brattleboro, it is a work of art/history and serenity. Easily comfortable for a large family, everything about the place is gorgeously quirky in an awe inspiring way. Far from a normal ski rental, this gave a warmth and memorable space that we will seek again. Filled with great art, tech, essentials, and open space in a historical and tranquil space unmatched.
33 mins of beautiful drive to Mt Snow base, easy in and out to Brattleboro, scenic walking out your door.
I couldnt recommend the space or Natalie's hospitality any more whole heartedly! Truly an indelible place that I hope to make part of an annual tradition.
We are thirty mins from Stratton and Mt Snow. Brattleboro, five miles south, has been listed several times as #1 small art towns to visit in the US.

We do have an apartment downstairs with full time tenants. We do ask that loud music or loud thumps on the floor be kept to a minimum. Generally the floor noise is the most bothersome since it is unpredicatble to someone living below. We want guests to feel totally comfortable and feel at home in the church as a weekend away to chill and relax. So we ask you to take your shoes off when you come in the door, refrain from knocking dirt or snow off your boots on the front step, and walk around in socks or barefoot on our lovely warm radiant heated floors!
