About Lisa Epstein

We have owned a chalet just around the corner for many years. We know this area well and take great pride in maintaining this naturally beautiful landscape.

We are environmentalists and animal lovers. Over the years, we've spotted many deer, a few fox, several owls, several beavers (and noticed quite a few trees missing along the lake) one baby moose, a few too many skunks and raccoon all over the area and it's always a thrill. Porcupines, wild birds, geese, ducks, hummingbirds, blue jays, red cardinals and others are frequent visitors.

There is a small farm up the road, although the cows are now gone. Casey the horse still lives there, and is always happy to receive visitors with carrots or apples.

Lisa Epstein purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Lisa Epstein chose Lake Memphremagog

This property is the ultimate escape from the busy city. The clear starry nights will leave you in awe. The early morning sunrise over the calm lake will rejuvenate you. The absolute quiet will restore your senses. The cedars smell divine in every season.

What makes this chalet unique

We bought this property because we wanted to protected the forest around it so we painstakingly renovated the existing structure to have as little carbon foot print as possible while creating a beautiful vacation spot for you to enjoy. If you enjoy the country, you'll love this chalet.

Sheltered in the cedars

Wonderful fireplace with lots of wood. Comfortable, clean and close to several excellent amenities, spas and restaurants. Could use some mirrors in the bedrooms. Shower is small. Lots of hot water. Drinking water supplied. Great get away!

Authentic, Nostalgic, Pleasure.

  • 5 of 5

Highlights:

- Warm shower in the outdoor stall, in the pouring September rain under towering, fragrant conifers.

- Spending a whole day on the dock playing with my 2 big dogs, watching the clouds billow over Mt Orford

- watching Canada Geese flock, listening to loons call, on Lac Mephamagog

- delighting in the hand-made, decades old, character of the chalet

- local food (cheese, venison, duck, rabbit, more cheese...) in the local grocery store.

Property has long lawn and private lake front and dock. Shoreline is sheltered from the main lake.

  • 4 of 5

We spent most of our time at the cottage waterfront and enjoyed the provided boats: kayak, sailboat, surf board and paddleboat. The lakefront scenery is beautiful and is very quiet. The cottage location is a good base for small day trips to some historical towns and scenic farm lands. The local town of Magog has a plenty of restaurants and shops to keep you occupied.

The cottage has fully working appliances and a large kitchen. The bedrooms are a tight fit but adequate for sleeping. The large family room has a nice view of the yard, and serves a good social hub.

Brits at a lakeside summer cabin.

  • 4 of 5

Visiting from England we were very pleased to find this lakeside cabin, an easy drive from Montreal Airport. It definitely fitted the dream of a North American summer cabin with it's own canoe and kayak ready for use. We are two adults with a sixteen year old son and consequently differing holiday needs, but we all enjoyed our various priorities from reading many books, enjoying an outdoor fire, to early morning kayaking and swimming in the lake. We all appreciated sightings of the local wildlife - the deer, the squirrels and chipmunks, a racoon crossing the road on the way to Magog and the kingfishers and woodpeckers. The proximity of Magog helped us to choose this cabin - it's a very pleasant and useful place. We found the Metro Plus supermarket easy to get to and only 100m from the main crossroads near the lake. We ate twice at Bistro Chez Sirano and would certainly recommend it for food, atmosphere and service.

We visited Montreal taking the Limocar Coach ($60 a head) from the services at Exit 115 where you can leave your car overnight, as we stayed one night in the city very reasonably at a downtown Travelodge Hotel.

We also enjoyed a visit to Mount Orford Park and road trips to the canton villages , e.g. North Hatley and Georgeville.

A very comfortable, clean, well-appointed holiday home - the only thing missing for us tea-drinking Brits was a kettle!

A typical cottage

  • 4 of 5

Location is great! The owners are very nice and attentive. The week flew by. We enjoyed sitting on the dock admiring the tranquility and beauty of the surrounding area. Cottage is set back on the property and is covered by tall trees with a direct view to the water. Water access is perfect for young children. Amazing dock to view the lake from. The living room is very large and comfortable. Bedrooms are cozy with comfortable beds. Plenty of towels. Indoor shower is very small, but outdoor shower with hot water is much bigger. Fully equipped kitchen and very functional. Except for a breaker that jumped repeatedly whenever a small appliance was plugged in, on occasion at the same time as the fridge compressor was running. All in all, It was a magnificent stay. Thank you Lisa and Dave for sharing this property .
