About Martha Ramage

We live in Texas and can't be at the Cape all the time. I have been there in every month of the year and love each month. The summer has plenty to do - the rest of the year there aren't so many visitors and it is quiet and peaceful.

Martha Ramage purchased this house in 2009

Why Martha Ramage chose Harwich - Harwichport

This house looks brand new and is kept pristine. It is our home and we have set it up with all the amenities of our home in Texas. When I cross the Sagamore Bridge, I breathe a sigh of relief and know that the real world is behind me and paradise is ahead! We have found the people on the Cape very friendly and hospitable - a welcome respite from the pressure of everyday life in a big city.

What makes this house unique

We knew the minute we looked at this house that it needed to be ours. The previous owners built it and for ten years came every summer for two months. It was built with 'good bones' and we have loved being in it.

Perfect home for our family vacation

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely home in a quiet scenic neighborhood (hydrangeas galour!). It's great for kids with plenty of toys, balls, bikes, swings. The ping pong table in the basement was the scene of nightly tournaments. it's a long walk to the beach (20 minutes) but very pleasant. We drove one car loaded with chairs/coolers etc and small children and the rest of us walked. Beware....There is a parking fee of 20 per day at the beach. My only complaint is that we had to find the sheets and blankets and make up all the beds ourselves. And at the end of the week we were supposed to wash and fold all the towels. That might be typical for cape code?? I have always had laundry built into the cost of home rentals and that would have been my preference. Overall our stay was very very nice and Martha was very accommodating.

Perfect Cape Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house! It was perfect for our family vacation! We didn't want to leave when our week ended. The house had plenty of space, all the amenities you could ask for, and more. The house was spacious, the deck and backyard perfect, and the daily ping pong tournaments were exciting. Plenty of space to read, relax, hang out, eat, and convenient to the beach. Even though my children are all adults, the street is a family friendly location for walking and biking! Martha is a very thoughtful homeowner, and a pleasure to rent from and communicate with. The beach pail of some items you may need and information makes you feel welcome.

Good location, great porch

  • 4 of 5

Very nice home with good facilities and amenities - we especially loved the porch with an optional shade that can roll out. Location was close to Red River Beach, which was nice, and close to both Harwich Port and Chatham for restaurants, shops, and walking around. We were there for a wedding in Harwich Port, so the location was perfect. Our group used all of the bedrooms -- the upstairs bedroom gets very hot (especially if the weather is exceptionally hot, as it was) and the A/C unit is so noisy that it wasn't possible to sleep with the unit running. Some beach supplies like chairs and umbrella were provided, but not enough for 8 adults; that ended up being okay since we rarely went to the beach all as one group, but something for others to keep in mind in bringing some of their own supplies or renting additional items. The cleaning requirements became a bit challenging to also be out of the house by 11am - like washing and drying and folding all towels from the week; perhaps something can be worked out with the cleaning crew if the towels are at least loaded in the washing machine and started.

Owner was helpful and accessible throughout the week despite being out of town.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback. There are 8 beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, & numerous other beach things. This summer was extremely hot and the central A/C doesn't cool upstairs sufficiently so we put in a window unit, which makes the normal noise for a window unit. ( I sleep with a sound machine every night so never noticed the sound of the A/C). Most rentals on the Cape do not provide linens or towels - the rental rate for the week for 8 people is $342. I will let renters know that if they don't want to wash towels, they can rent. The cleaning crew is only at the house for an hour between renters so they can't help with that.

A quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

We found what we needed when looking for a house with 2 king beds and central ac close to Wychmere Beach Club for our daughter's wedding. Accommodations for us and our extended family were comfortable and very convenient to everywhere we needed to go. Best of all, it was the perfect quiet retreat in the hubbub of wedding celebrations. Can't wait to return for further relaxation and exploration of the Cape.

Perfect Cape Vacation Home for Multiple Families!

  • 5 of 5

This home is perfect for a family vacation in Harwich! If you have multiple families vacationing together there is plenty of space to accommodate everyone. Located on a quiet street good for riding bikes and taking a nice walk. The house is well equipped with all the essentials you will need, from towels for the beach and towels for the shower to comfortable beds and all the bedding. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need for cooking any meal. Martha is a pleasure to speak with and is extremely organized. An overwhelming favorite at this house continues to be the beautiful outdoor shower!

Beautiful Home!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year that we have stayed at this amazing home. We have already booked our week for next year. The house is clean, organized and is in such a convenient location. Three couples shared the house. Plenty of room for all of us and each couple had their own bathroom. So perfect! Love Red River beach just down the street. The outdoor shower is such a treat! The owner is so accommodating and lovely to deal with. I am so glad we found this house!

Notes:
Cape Cod is a unique place away from the rest of the world. There are so many things to do: whale watching in P-Town, seal watching in Chatham, Friday night band concerts, Cape Cod Baseball League, Hyannis Sound concerts, many beaches, unique shopping opportunities, the best food in the world, great biking/running trails, museums, Heritage Gardens, Cape Cod railroad, and so much more. There is a 1800 square foot basement that has a Ping-Pong table and just a place to get away. This is our home and I have a notebook full of things to do and places to go. We come here to get away from the world. I want our guests to enjoy what there is at the Cape and each other. We play games, work puzzles, relax, eat, drink, and be merry. My hope is that you will do the same.
