Unforgettable vacations. Let yourself be rocked to the rhythm of the tides.
The house, on three floors, has been designed by a family of architects to respect the natural topography. It offers spectacular views of the St. Lawrence River, the village of St-Irenee, as well as the forest and the rocky cliffs that are the origin of the name of the domain. Its structure of wooden posts, gives a touch of warmth to its contemporary flavor. In addition to the uniqueness of this home, which will enchant you with its brightness and tranquility, you will fall in love with the region of Charlevoix which is known to have the best restaurants in Canada.
Activities : Domaine Forget ( music concerts ) - Parc des Hautes- Gorges (hiking) - Massif de la petite - Rivière St -François (ski) - Mont Grand-Fonds (ski)

This is a beautiful house in a stunning location with fantastic views right across the St Lawrence River from almost every room in the house. It is central to the Charlevoix region making it easy to explore the area.
We enjoyed our stay at the house but potential guests should be aware of a few things. The driveway is quite rough and unless you have a 4x4 you have to leave your car at the top (about a 50m walk), which makes things a little difficult if you have a lot of luggage. The steps leading to the front door were a bit dicey in the snow and ice and one of the steps was actually loose - a railing is really required here.
We couldn't find any instructions in the house for how things worked. This was a problem with the TV, which appeared to have both Netflix and Apple TV, but we couldn't work out how to access those and were stuck with just two (French language) free-to-air stations. The dishwasher doesn't appear to work very well - we tried it twice and got an error message halfway through the cycle. We ended up washing up by hand. The oven door doesn't close properly.
The main bedroom is lovely with fantastic views, but the bed itself, while comfortable, is a mattress on the floor - this could cause difficulties for some people. The shower door in the ensuite also doesn't close properly and there is an unattached shelf in the upstairs bathroom.
The laundry and lower bedrooms of the house are on the lower floor of the house which is still under construction - this wasn't a problem but was a bit of a surprise.
Overall, for us the positives outweighed the negatives and we are glad that we chose to stay at the property. The owners do need to attend to a few things, however.
We are glad you liked our home and the stunning views it offers to our visitors. We also thank you for the rest of your comments which will be helpful to improve our visitor’s experience. We must point out some things though. The stunning views of our property are the result of the house’s position on the cliff. At the end of every winter the freeze-thaw cycle on our land moves and displaces the landscape including our 4 steps leading to the house. When the snow melts, a worker takes care of all that. We have 2 sets of instructions in the house. One that we leave on the tablet behind the black sofa and one that we keep hidden in a drawer because sometimes our guests misplace them. We respond immediately to our guest’s requests. We could have helped you easily with your TV trouble. Concerning the dishwasher, sometimes when a dish or other item block the spinning arms it produces an error. Our cleaning lady did the dishes since with no more problems. As for the oven door, when you start baking you have to turn one of the knobs to the right in order to lock the door. We could have easily helped you with this also. The mattress is placed as such because it clears the views to the spectacular sun rises which would otherwise be missed by the balcony’s Gard-rail, as for the shower door and the tablet our worker was advised, and they will be adjusted shortly. The lower floor is not under construction! We have placed some construction materials in our mechanical room for future projects. This space is of no need to our visitors and is not included in the description of the house. In short, we are sorry if you were inconvenienced and if there are any further problems be sure they will be attended immediately :)
Who would not love this place. The views of the St. Lawrence River are spectacular. The chalet is also. All windows. My only thought is that if you have problems with stairs, this may be difficult for you. Also draw lots for the Master bedroom.........it is unbelievable...both in size and the views, I was fortunate enough to draw the winning straw. Would definitely love to return.
We had a lovely time. A little window clean-up would greatly help.
Spacious, modern villa
Family of 4 touring Quebec.
Villa is very spacious, very modern, very well-equipped.
It is isolated - several kms out of town - with some quirky features - several parts of the house are unfinished and remain under construction and outside areas look incomplete. But these aspects do not detract materially from what is fantastic property with superb views over the St Lawrence and two great balcony/terrace spaces.
Weather was mixed and there are limited wet weather things to do. But, villa has plenty of space to kill time until weather picks up.
Couldn't get TV to work beyond 2 channels and intro pack for TV, fans, lights etc could be helpful.
But property is stunning.
Our first visit to Charlevoix - region is much hillier than expected (and roads/views ofter spectacular). Recommended activities - whale watching at Baie St Catherine (abt 1 hr), ferry across to Tadoussac - especially late evening (15 mins further), Riviere Malbaie National Park (abt 45 mins).
Restful spot overlooking the St Lawrence
We LOVED this home - it was everything that we hoped for: quiet and serene but within a reasonable drive of restaurants and sights. Fully equipped and owner was very responsive to questions. My only caveat would be if you need a dark room to sleep bring an eye mask! The master bedroom is glass on all sides with gorgeous views but sun starts shining in at 4:30 am - not a problem for us but might be for someone else.
We truly enjoyed our week at Vila Lyla and especially the responsiveness of Laki, the owner. The views were stunning, the people were very welcoming and the sites, out of this world. Even saw the belugas right out front of the Vila.
A couple of things that might be helpful for future visitors might be a welcome booklet with information on the property and area. Also, often properties will provide a suitability group for the accommodation. For this particular property, it is not suitable for children or for seniors. Also, clean windows would certainly improve the experience.
Thank you again, Laki.
