This is a beautiful cabin! Plenty of room for the 6 of us. The listing is accurate regarding location, layout and amenities. Property is well maintained. Owner was great to work with, quickly replied to emails and provided all information I requested. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the deer and turkeys every morning and evening. Plenty of things to keep our family busy. Did the usual sightseeing (Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Badlands, Custer, Minuteman Missile National Park, etc.). Went horseback riding one afternoon at Andy's which was a lot of fun. Had our first Indian Taco which is amazing! If you go into Rapid City, be sure to stop and eat at the Firehouse Brewing Company. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
only downfall was I thought they had direct TV but not available when we got there. otherwise everything very nice. was very impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked. Very easy to find and will be a great location once the Lodge is built just up the road. Any questions we had were answered very promptly.
The cabin was great. Had turkeys and deer at the driveway every morning. It was so peaceful. The cabin had everything that was needed. All we brought was our food. I wish the address was at the street since we arrived after dark, but in the daylight was quite easy to find. We will be staying there again. We had our 4 adult children with us and we had plenty of room.
Cabin was easy to find with GPS. The kitchen was well stocked. My parents, sisters and I have rented a different cabin in the Hills for the last three years. This was by far the least desirable. All of the beds need to be replaced. The loft was only accessible by a ladder attached very closely to the wall. As far as I could see, only children would be able to climb it. This should be noted in the description. Overall, I felt the cabin was not a good choice for us.
My husband and I with my daughters family always enjoyed the Blacks Hills, the cabin was very well stocked, my daughter and I enjoyed our early morning coffee on the deck, it was so peaceful, we went on the ATV trails that were close by one day, otherwise just spent time by the cabin which had a nice walk trail beside it, my little granddaughter is 18 months and I wouldn't recommend this cabin for small children with the very very steed basement stair and the railing on the deck, the cabin is right beside Terry peak and very close to all the cabins up there this would be great for skiing
After one week in the cabin here are our thoughts from a family of 6.
-beautiful location not far from the many attractions in the area. We were at each destination within 30-45 min. (took scenic roads mostly) and had a nice, quiet place to spend our evenings. We enjoyed Custer Park, Bear Country, Crystal Caves, Reptile Gardens, Black Hills Maze, Mt. Rushmore, President Wax Museum, and more.
-enjoyed viewing wildlife from the deck (deer, snowshoe rabbits, birds, chipmunks, and squirrels)
-open floor plan allows for easy interaction and makes the cabin feel even larger than it already is.
-the cabin is well stocked, especially the kitchen. The owners have clearly thought of everything travelers might need and provided it for you. Bring food and clothes and you are set.
-You access the downstairs by a steep, narrow spiral staircase. This could be difficult for some to navigate however there is also access through an exterior door.
-there is not a railing on the loft overlooking the living/dining areas. What a fun place for the kids to stay and hang out in yet it would not be ideal for small children due to the ladder you use to get to it and that there isn't a railing to protect them from falling off.
We found this cabin to be great. Just the amount of thought that went into making sure it had everything travelers would want/need made it well worth the price.
