Beautiful and secluded

  • 5 of 5

My son was getting married in Asheville, so we wanted a place for our family to stay. The Lodge was very big, with plenty of room to spread out, clean and inviting. And to our surprise, it was also located on the same property as the house the bride's family had booked. This was very convenient but the houses were also not right on top of each other as the property is very big. Booking was easy and my questions were always answered quickly. Dog-friendly. The only word of advice I would give to anyone is to make sure you get all the info you need to enter the house before you get to the house. Phone service with our carrier was non-existent at the house and very spotty in the area. You might also want to use the old-fashioned method of printing out directions before you drive up to the Lodge, just in case you lose service. Once inside the house, you can connect to the WiFi and text others if you don't have service.

Second time staying here and it was just as fabulous as the first time! The house is amazing and the location couldn't be better - You have nature and quiet but are conveniently close to downtown. Will definitely be going back!

2 nights not enough

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, who live in Raleigh, rendezvoused at the Lodge with our daughter and her husband (Philadelphia) and our son and his family, wife, granddaughter 3 years, and grandson 2 years, from Anderson, SC. The house was perfect for a reunion. Although it was freezing cold outside the entire time, we had plenty of room indoors in front of the fire to visit and have a "second Christmas". The ping pong table in the garage area was a great asset for cold weather. The grandkids had room to work off energy, too, even spending brief periods in the huge deck hammock, wrapped in their warmest clothes.

Because it was so cold, having the large windows in the living and dining/kitchen areas let us still enjoy the outdoors. On our last morning, it snowed lightly, and there were wild turkeys outside.

We had breakfasts and dinners at the house. The kitchen is amazing, with wonderful appliances (two ovens!) and pots and pans, bakeware, plates, bowls, glasses, utensils, etc., to prepare and serve meals.

There were two shortcomings in the kitchen. I never could find an empty cabinet for the non-refrigerables that we brought to the house. The other item that would have been useful was a mid-sized pot (~2.5 quart). Otherwise, we were all set.

In summary, the entire house was ideal: spacious, clean, bathrooms well-appointed, beds comfortable.

I hope we can come back when the weather is better, so that we can take advantage of the trails and the deck area.

Great house. Really lived up to our expectations.

  • 5 of 5

The addition of almost 10 inches of snow only added to the peaceful wooded setting. It was nice to look out the window and watch the deer go through the yard. The lodge was exactly what the web site said and very well maintained. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed and all the rooms were clean and comfortable. The snow made it a little hard to get up the drive but that only added to our adventure. Would love to return and stay at one of the other cabins on the property. Great place.

Loved, loved, loved the kitchen, especially the island, and open floor plan. It was great having a TV in each room so we could separate if needed. The property is beautiful. We appreciated having the firewood if needed. It was also nice to have wifi
