About Owner/Manager

Have lived in NH and played in Maine since 1976!

Owner/Manager purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Owner/Manager chose Western Maine

Tripp Lake is a very special place for our family. The Wee White Cottage is set among tall pines, and family camps along the western shore. We own both the Wee White Cottage and a larger year round vacation home next door. We welcome guests that enjoy the peace and quite of a Maine lake.

What makes this cottage unique

Go to sleep in this cottage to the sounds of the loons. Wake up with the sun. Watch the moon rise from the dock. Kayak to sunset cove. Sip coffee on the new dock. Take a nap on the hammock. Swim in crystal clear waters. Check out the local farm markets, ice cream stands and antique stores.

This is the perfect spot to get away. Quiet, private, cozy and calm. Very important to note that this is a very small cottage in a neighborhood of summer cottages. Friendly neighbors, dead end road, very quiet. There are limited amenities but the cottage is clean and well maintained. There is no air conditioning, but there are fans. There is a small flat screen TV, but there is no cable service so it is used only for playing DVD's or you can hook it up to your computer for internet movies. Free WIFI. There is a dock for swimming or fishing. Easy access to lake. Call if you have specific needs or questions about the cottage or the area. There is an older pontoon boat available for rent. You must arrange for use of the pontoon prior to check in and there are additional fees and waivers that must be signed before use.

An enjoyable lakeside getaway.

The Wee White Cottage is clean, cozy, and quaint. We spent a lot of time sitting on the dock and kayaking. Beautiful sunrise and sunset viewing. It was a perfect mini vacation for us.

The cottage was a true classic lakeside cottage and only steps from the lake. The cottage was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The owner was helpful and responsive. Having kayaks available was a nice perk. Hearing the loons one evening was magical!

Wonderful Maine cottage with beautiful views of Tripp Lake.

The cottage was charming and right on the water. We had our own dock which was a perfect place to watch the sunrise and the loons. We would stay here again! Owners were very friendly.

25th Wedding Anniversary trip

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay at the Wee White Cottage. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Our thanks to Dorthea she was a pleasure to deal with and was very attentive, nice letter for us on the table when we got there with info. One item we especially enjoyed was the old cemetery in the area, great history and saw among others someone who fought in the war of 1812. The cottage was as described and location was great for us to travel for day trips to Portland, Salem Mass., and the White Mountains. Also enjoyed greatly the property and lake, we kayaked, fished, sat lakeside and watched the loons. Overall great experience!

Peaceful, relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a delightful stay at the cottage!

We were there during the week, and it was peaceful, quiet and private. However, it's worth noting that the neighbors on either side were not there during our stay.

Access to the lake was wonderful for swimming and kayaking. Two kayaks with paddles and lifevests were provided by the owners.

The lake is magnificent at dawn, throughout the day, and especially at the amazing sunsets we saw. There's abundant nature, and the call of the loons was a memorable experience.

The cottage interior was beautiful, cozy, and eclectic, and had what we needed to do some light cooking. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. There's plenty of linens and towels and a small hairdryer.

Bring your provisions on the way in, as the nearest store is a few miles away. There are good restaurants within an easy drive. The owners were helpful with information, and available for any questions. We were very happy with our stay, and highly recommend it.

The cottage, property, and owners were amazing...the view is unbeatable, not only from outside, but inside too - the sunset framed by the beautiful arched doorway is stunning. And the stars, mirrored by the lake, are breathtaking. We had an issue with the first property we rented, and we weren't able to stay. These property owners made accommodations for us to come that next day, on short notice. And the property exceeded all expectations. Our dogs also had a amazing time!!! Thank you so much for everything!!! We can't wait to come back :)

When visiting this area you will enjoy checking out the small villages of Norway and South Paris. Each have lovely cafes, restaurants, museums, and gardens. There's a great kayaking spot near Poland if you want to take an - off lake trip. You put-in near the town garage and float to middle Range Pond, where there are eagle's nests and incredible fishing. We have seen turtles lined up 10 deep on a log, loons right next to the kayak and many shore birds. There is also a nice beach for swimming. Other must do items is take a day trip to the coast of Maine, just 30 minutes away. Pick from Freeport or head to down town Portland and take a ferry to the prettiest little island - Peak's Island. Great for sightseeing, biking (you can rent on the island), museums, great lunches. Only a 15 minute ferry ride. Call me for more info about the area, we are happy to help you plan your vacation.
