Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Four Bedrooms With King Size Beds, 3 Custom Baths, Plus Bunk Room/Game Room.

Take in the beauty of Grand Lake from the decks of this luxurious home with four bedrooms and a bunk room/game room. Recently customized inside and out, this home is one of the most pleasant and comfortable locations on Grand Lake. All bedrooms have king beds with new, comfortable mattresses. The bunk room has a double bunk and a day bed with trundle.

There is also an upstairs nook with a queen sleeper sofa. So the house will comfortably sleep 12 without the sleeper sofa. All bedding and furniture is new and was meticulously selected for comfort first. The living room is equipped with a 60' smart TV with internet connection through Wavelinx.

There are two magnificent decks, both of which provide a beautiful panoramic view of the Monkey Island area of Grand Lake. Wildlife is abundant with ducks, geese, pelicans (in season), deer and bald eagles. A large outdoor grill is located on the upper deck for 'outdoor cooking with a view'. Speaking of the view: the nicest thing is that when taking it in you will have a hard time finding anything man-made. There are many places on Grand Lake that have a view--of the neighbor's docks or marina. Not here. You look out on the wilderness of Snake Island (named for its shape, not what's on it) and Governor's Island, and beyond that, is Monkey Island where with good eyes you can see a distant water tower and hotel. Enjoy the sunrise with your coffee and nature.

The kitchen is beautiful with granite counter tops and stainless appliances. It is fully equipped with convection oven, five top burner range, convection microwave, refrigerator/freezer with ice and water dispenser, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, and crock pot. A good supply of cookware, baking pans, and cooking utensils are available for your use whether cooking for small or large groups. Basic staples such as flour, pancake/biscuit mixes, various types of sugars, corn meal, syrups, basic salad dressings, mayo, mustard, and relish are provided along with a large supply of spices and rubs for cooking or grilling. There is a large dining table with full view of the lake.

About Barbara Bogan

My name is Fred Bogan. My wife's name is Barbara. Together we have enjoyed running a busy chiropractic office in Tulsa for more than 35 years. Shortly after getting married we purchased an old cabin cruiser on Grand Lake which we kept for 10 years. As the kids came along and life got more and more busy we reluctantly let the boat go. However, our love of Grand Lake never went away. Many years later we purchased another cruiser which we keep at Arrowhead Yacht Club. We love our boat but that didn't stop Barbara from dreaming of a house on her favorite lake. This home is the culmination of her three year search for the perfect place for her to call her home away from home. We hope you agree.

Barbara Bogan purchased this house in 2014

Why Barbara Bogan chose Afton

As you might imagine, I was not particularly ecstatic about owning a second home. But, I can tell you without doubt that what hooked me about this particular house, in addition to its many amenities, is the view. When I saw the view from the decks or almost any place in the house I was hooked. The house is beautiful, well laid out on a very nice lot, and with a view that can only be matched by fewer than a handful of homes anywhere on the lake. I challenge you to look out any window or step out on either deck and not stop to take in the beauty that God has provided. There are very few places on the lake that offer a view that is not cluttered with docks and other man-made structures. Not here. What you see is thousands of acres of water and wilderness. It's just indescribable

What makes this house unique

Our dock has a large upper deck patio for sunning, reading, eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or just hanging out while the kids swim. The 'kids' of all ages seem to love jumping of the top deck.

For the smaller group of kids we have a very special place for them to play called the fantasy room. We provide lots of costumes with all the extras such as hats, jewelry, wands, swords, capes, shields, and ect. We have hand puppets, puzzles, arts and crafts, books, and many more exciting things for their little imaginations to go wild.

We have some extra amenities for various needs or occasions.

1. 12 - 5 place settings of China with serving pieces for that special dinner.

2. Punch Bowl & 24 sets of dessert plates and cups.

3. 2 - Pack - In - Plays

4. Booster seat high chair

5. Bouncy Seat that hangs from door

6. Saucer seat

We have a private boat dock on our property. It has a large upper deck patio for sunning, reading, eating, for just hanging out while people swim. It has a boat lift which accommodates a 23 foot boat and up to 6,000 pounds total weight. Radar arch style boats do not fit on the boat lift because of the upper deck patio, but we do have mooring whips to accommodate radar arch style boats. We also have two jet ski lifts. Bring your boat and/or jet skis. You can rent our pontoon boat for group fun on the lake or it has trolling motor and 4 fishing seats for the fisherman in the group. For those special occasions we have available for use; 95 piece Noritaka China Set (Silver trim with white on white) 12 - 7 piece place settings 8 - serving pieces Punch bowl with 24 dessert/snack plates and cups

Absolutely AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5

Oh my goodness where to start....... first of all, the correspondence with the owners (Fred and Barbara) was always easy and prompt. Everything was clear and lined out perfectly for our stay. Upon arrival, we met with the house and boat manager, and they were both very nice and extremely helpful the entire trip (Jim was hilarious!) The house was spotless and had every amenity you could think of. Fresh baked cookies on arrival, a bottle of wine..... a pantry filled with flour, sugar, seasonings, etc..... They literally thought of EVERYTHING. We only had to leave ONCE during our entire stay and that was to go get groceries for our stay........The view was just INCREDIBLE........ no matter where you went you could see the lake in all directions...... I'm not sure you could even get a better view than the view from this home! There is not one complaint that we have about our stay other than we wish that we owned the home ourselves so that we could never leave.......... It rained every day that we were on vacation, but it didn't matter.... we took the boat out fishing, fished off the dock, played cards, grilled out, played foosball in the kids room and spent quality time together..... it was one of the best family vacations we have ever had! The owners are such wonderful people, the house manager and boat manager were awesome and everything was absolutely perfect. We would recommend this to anyone that wants a nice, relaxing vacation in a huge, gorgeous home with an unbelievably beautiful view.......the family time away from all the "hustle and bustle" is just priceless. Love, Love, LOVE the Bogan House and we can't wait to go back!

Beautiful house with a "Grand" view!

  • 4 of 5

This stay was a 4-generation family vacation. The house was fantastic with all the amenities you could ask for. There were 12 of us and we enjoyed every minute of it. We spent a lot of time on the deck, enjoying the beautiful view! We only had one issue and that was something we should have discussed with the owner before we booked, so that's on us. For my 87 and 85 year old parents, getting to the dock was difficult because of the steep stairs, but we worked it out. You won't be disappointed if you stay here, it's lovely!

Beautiful Home

  • 4 of 5

This home is gorgeous. The view on the lake is amazing. Every evening we would sit out on the patio and watch the sunset. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the mattresses are soooo comfortable. The only reason I gave the house a four is because we had to use fans to keep the house cool. The design of the house is an A frame with a lot of windows. Since it was 95 degrees, the main floor and the top floor were significantly warmer than the bottom floor.

Family trip to Grand Lake

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was great. The lake view and convenience to the lake was great. The trolley down to the boat dock made the trips to and from the boat easy. The family is already talking about next year.

Incredible Property

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 9 was blown away with how incredible this home was during our stay. The house is in a great location, and it has to have one of the best (if not THE best) views on all of Grand Lake. In that respect and others, the pictures online really don't do this home justice. The owners and house manager were also very accommodating, being willing to provide us anything we needed. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a Grand Lake rental.

Great place for family of ten to stay

  • 4 of 5

The Bogan House was everything as advertised. My family of ten really enjoyed our weekend stay at this lake house. Absolutely beautiful East facing view of the lake. Swimming and fishing off the dock was a real treat for the grandkids. The cable tram to the dock was a real bonus since it is a steep walk to get to and from the dock. We were met by the property manager and the owner upon our arrival. We were given a tour of the house to point out key features of the house. We were approved to bring a small dog with us. The fenced backyard and gated deck keep our dog secure. We didn’t rent the pontoon boat since it was not approved to be used to tow a tube for the kids. The kitchen was very well stocked with appliances, pots and pans and tableware. Dining room table seated ten. Plenty of room for four or five cars on the driveway. We did encounter a small ant problem which was resolved with some ant traps and spray. The boat guy showed up one day unannounced to move the boat from the dock. Since we didn’t know him we would have preferred prior notice before he showed up. We had not requested the boat be moved. We were able to easily keep in touch with the property manager by texting her phone.
