About Barbara and Menno Good

We're retired and always dreamed of owning a lakefront home. We are grateful to realize our goal!

Barbara and Menno Good purchased this house in 2013

Why Barbara and Menno Good chose Blue Mountain

It only takes us an hour and five minutes from the Lansdale interchange of the northeast extension of the turnpike. For those living near this interchange, friends and family can easily come for day visits during vacation. Easy travel from New Jersey and New York.

What makes this house unique

Relaxing deck chairs watching geese, ducks, birds, deer, an array of rhododendron and mountain laurel around our home and throughout the community. Lake sparkles with ripples most of the time (unless covered with ice and snow in the winter). Many hummingbirds and other birds and wildlife. The open floor plan with lake views from the great room, kitchen, master bedroom is breathtaking. It's wonderful watching the fire in the fireplace (electric insert). The full basement is 2110 sq. ft. is a game room with skee ball, foosball, air hockey, pool, poker table, ping pong, regulation shuffleboard, and a number of other games.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This is such a beautiful house! We enjoyed the view of the frozen lake, and the deer each morning as they slipped and slid across it. Spent all of our time tubing/snowboarding around Blue Mountain--we had an amazing time! Thank you so much!!!

We all had a wonderful and relaxing time. The surroundings contributed to that. The listing description was as described. The owner provided good customer service. I would recommend this property to my friends and family.

Owner's Response: Thanks, and we are happy that you had a wonderful time. We are sorry that the summer was so hot and dry, and the water in the lake was lower than usual. We hope you caught some fish! The water level will be back to normal with the spring rains. And the garage door has been repaired--apologies for any inconvenience due to scheduling to get it fixed. Very comforable and accessible to many activities.

  • 5 of 5

We had a very relaxing vacation in this large, comfortable well appointed house. Then owner responded promply to all our enquires. The basement rec room provided hours of entertainment for our sons. The neighborhood was so quiet we thought we were the only people on the lake. The house was a great jumping off place for all kinds of activities in the area. We particulary enjoyed many nearby hiking trails.

My family had a wonderful time!

  • 4 of 5

The home is very clean, roomy and nicely stocked with kitchen appliances, pots, pans, etc. The family room is very sunny and relaxing. My family enjoyed the peaceful lake and took advantage of the two canoes that were made available. We were greeted each day by a pair of ducks who we named Lucy and Ethel! The basement was very cool and we had fun playing ping pong and shuffleboard. We enjoyed sitting around the firepit on the deck. The boys took advantage of the local public golf course and the girls enjoyed a relaxing day of shopping and manicures/pedicures in town. We also recommend making reservations at Ferrara Brothers Italian Restaurant. Best meal we had out in a long time. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay. Thanks Barbara and Menno!

Owner's Response: Thanks Steve and Maria, We are happy you had fun at Lakeside even though I believe it was the hottest week of the summer! Thanks for the heads up about Ferrara Brothers Italian Restaurant. It was nice that Lucy and Ethel entertained our guests all summer. I think they were requesting food. Have a great year and come visit us again.

Beautiful, Relaxing, Inviting

  • 5 of 5

Loved the stay, we were so impressed with the offerings. Quiet little lake. Excellent game room. I would not take off points for the minor issues. Lake has a lot of muck you have to walk through, although most of our time was spent on a 4 person raft... BIG recommendation, Get one before you come!! It was great... And the days we spent there happened to be very hot... although the whole house fan helped at night, the daytime was hard to keep the house cool... not the worst scenario just a note to the owners. And, of course, it was quite a distance to any restaurants/shops but many people enjoy that, we didn't mind all that much. But all in all, wouldn't trade the time there, enjoyed it so much! Thank you for the excellent vacation experience.

Owner's Response: Thank you for reserving at Lakeside, and we are happy you had an "exceptional vacation experience.". We do provide 2 canoes and a 4 person raft for our guests, plus various size paddles and oars as well as life jackets. It has been an unusually warm summer, but the game room is always cool--from 60-70 degrees which is great for activity. The whole house fan does cool down the rooms; especially at night. The ceiling fans also help. And there is usually a breeze from the lake on the deck. Restaurants and shops range from 5 miles to 20 miles away. Come visit us again!

Amazing house, very comfortable stay

  • 4 of 5

Barbara is a pleasure to work with. She made every accommodation necessary and more to make our stay a comfortable one. The weather was bad one day during our stay, and we loved the house so much and all it had to offer that we ended up extending our stay for an additional day. The house is much bigger than the photos let on, as the other reviews mention. Barbara even arranged for an additional boat for us to use, and it really made the vacation for us. The game room is endless fun. We really made ourselves at home!

Beautiful lake house

  • 5 of 5

A perfect getaway for my dtr (3) and I. She loved the swing under the deck, the daily visits from the ducks, going out on the raft each day, and nature hikes around the lake. The inside was beautiful and spacious for playing and the kitchen was great for cooking and looking at the views at the same time. Would definitely go back !!!
