My wife and I are avid travelers and enjoy exploring far-off reaches of the World. When we are home we love to cook, walk around our neighborhood, and have friends over. Jon is an avid golfer and is learning the guitar. Meg is taking a photography class and loves to run on the lake. We are the proud parents of a little boy and a baby girl.
Jonathan Urban purchased this house in 2010
If you are looking for a spacious, comfortable and elegantly modern home a few blocks from Wicker Park (the actual park that the neighborhood is named for!), this is the home for you. It was the perfect location for our family to gather. Great amenities in Wicker Park. Great access to Chicago. Very hip; very private; very comfortable; very proximate! This is a modern home in a historic neighborhood. It is very clean and well maintained. The hosts were very easy to work with. Would stay here again!
Jon really made us feel at home in his fabulous tri-level home. The pictures simply don't do it justice. It was modern, spotless, well maintained, and had all the essentials you'd expect like towels and soap, pots and pans, etc... He even left us coffee and donuts! He was always available by phone or text and responded timely.
Jon is a real class act, and we expect to return to his home whenever our travels take us to Chicago.
All 4 members of our group agreed - nicer than nearly any hotel in town!
We quickly booked a one-night stay, but wish we could have enjoyed this Wicker Park beauty for a few more nights!
The owners care about their home and it shows. They also care about your stay, and make available any creature comfort you could want. Jon and Meg were very sweet, and showed us around when we checked in. This personal touch served two purposes: We became instantly familiar with the operation of the house (Which was great since we didn't have a few days 'learning curve'), and we could see that we clearly were staying in someone's home, and not a typical rental. But we seamlessly moved in, and felt right at home thanks to their warm greeting.
Everyone in our party of 5 had plenty of room, with the beds and bathrooms sprinkled among the 3 levels. The hot tub is a great additional getaway, and adds to the big feel of a what is a relatively small footprint. The common spaces are really cozy, and everywhere is a poetic mix of modern meets tradition.
The neighborhood is great. Walking to shopping and dining is a breeze during good weather, and we were 20 minutes from downtown either driving or on the Blue Line.
Thank-you for letting us experience your home!
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful house in a great part of Chicago. Jonathan and his family were lovely and a delight to work with. I would highly recommend this location!
The visited Chicago for a week and the house was perfect for our family, six adults and a toddler. The play room in the basement was a big hit for the little one. Jon was excellent in communication, very flexible and the house has everything a family need to spend a vacation time in Chicago. We arrived after a long long flight and we found fresh flowers and fancy pastry waiting for us!!!. Quiet and safe neightborhood close to everywhere in Chicago. I highly recommend for families and certainly we will come back next time in Chicago. thanks Jon.
This home is every bit as beautiful as the pictures show, if not more. The very kind homeowners and their adorable little ones greeted us with open arms and were more than helpful. They were extremely responsive and eager to answer any questions we had. This is their primary residence, so as the other reviewer mentioned they (obviously) have all of their belongings there, but it was no bother, and plenty of storage space was available for our six day stay. Also, because it is their home it is much better maintained than most rentals, so for that reason it is a great place to stay! We were traveling with our infant and two year old, so the set up of this beautiful home could not have been more perfect for us, so highly recommended if traveling with kids as well, which is so hard to find. My two year old could not have been more excited to play with all the new toys and play "ting tong" in the basement ;) The neighborhood was so much fun, with great local places to eat and tons of shopping you can walk to! Super close to public transport, my husband was working downtown and got there easily every morning. Don't have a single complaint! Highly recommend! Also LOVED the Stan's Donuts!
