A good spot but not so sweet.
This property needs a lot of work. The location was the best thing about it. Although the inside was clean, there were dead roaches and live spiders inside. A huge wasp nest on balcony roof above chairs. The outside walls were covered in spider webs and bugs. Stairs were full of dirt piled up. Balcony rails were rusted and completely broken on corners. The street electrical cable is inches from the balcony. Outdoor carpet was torn and created a fall hazard. Furniture adequate but old; and limited glasses in kitchen along with broken can opener. Few towels in bath and broken tub drain but it was very clean. Twin mattresses were horrible- felt like boxsprings. Master bed ok. Roof leak under carport so big puddle next to car park. Big overgrown empty lot right across the street. Loud noise from train and bands playing at nearby bar. Good news- Very close to shops and restaurants so don't have to drive and park to get around. The location near main street was the most positive thing. Manager was nice enough though he did charge me a pet fee when we had no pet. Still waiting for my fefund. Price was low for the area, now I know why. Can't see us going there again.
Yes, the property does need work and is scheduled for an upgrade. Yes it is hard to beat the location. I do not know about the roaches and spiders, but I do know the contract for routine treatment had expired when the property was sold. Since then a new bug treatment contract has been put into place. Yes, there was a wasp nest on the front balcony which was inactive since the nest was treated and all the wasp were killed or gone before these tenants arrived.. The balcony rails are scheduled to be replaced. but are not unsafe. The street cables near the balcony areas are sometimes incorrectly identified as electrical cables.. These are AT&T phone lines. The outdoor carpet is being replaced. The furniture is only a few years old. More towels were added. Tub drain was a little slow. This has been cleared and now drains properly. There was a a problem with the AC drain line not draining properly causing water to drip thru the ceiling over the parking area. That was resolved as soon as I was notified. The owners of the overgrown lot across the street have been notified and the lot is now being used for storage. The train tracks are over two blocks away and cross Beach Blvd. They do have a tendency to blow the horn at this crossing. Sometimes you can hear music from some of the nightclubs nearby. Do not believe it is excessive, but actually an attraction. The area is know for its entertainment. When I became aware of the pet fee, I did refund this tenant's credit card on 8/5/19. II am thankful for this report. It will help get the improvements that I have been asking for from the owner.
Location, location, location
This property has a fantastic location! We walked to shops, restaurants, bars and the beach. It was clean and comfortable.
Wonderful Memorial Day Weekend Get-Away
My husband, adult daughter, and I, along with our pup, spent Memorial Day weekend at the Sweet Spot. Joey met us when we arrived to help us get in and acquainted with the apartment and surrounding area. There were no surprises. Everything was as described. The apartment was very clean and well stocked. We enjoyed to convenience of being able to walk to the beach, to shops, and to a variety of restaurants. Other reviewers have mentioned the train noise. We never heard trains passing through. We certainly enjoyed our stay at the Sweet Spot!
We really enjoyed the place. It was in a great location for the Pirate's Day event. My only complaint was there were only six towels in the room and no way to wash them. We had four adults in the room for two nights. It was hot and six towels were not enough. I had request more at check in but were not brought any as promised. I would definitely stay here again but bring my own additional towels.
There is a utility room downstairs with a washer & dryer. However, we believe out tenants should not have to wash our towels. Not sure what happened with the requested additional towels. We make sure that does not happen again.
Loved the sweet spot however, the beds were a little uncomfortable. Everything else was great.
Long weekend get away
Very cute, great location for downtown activities, restaurants and bars, but frequent train horns took some getting use to. Would stay here again.
This property is centrally located for special events such as Second Saturday, Harbor Fest, Crab Fest, Cruisin The Coast and Bridge Fest. All within walking distance including just touring the historic district of downtown Bay St. Louis. Also within walking distance are restaurants, bars, & shopping.
