Overview

Kenai Peninsula House Rental Photos and Description

Large Duplex, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 11 singles in beds, 15 max)

LUXURY CUSTOM HOME WITH HUGE DECK/LAWN WITH FANTASTIC MOUNTAIN AND WILDLIFE REFUGE VIEWS!! PERFECT FOR FAMILY GATHERINGS. KID FRIENDLY!

Welcome! We invite you to stay in our wonderful custom-made post and beam home. Designed and constructed by master builder Gregory Corse, this architecturally stunning home will provide a comfortable and inspiring retreat for your Alaskan adventures. The house was built using centuries old techniques from the German master builders. The 40' vaulted ceiling of the great room boasts incredible hand-hewn beam and joinery work, with a cascading wall of windows overlooking rich green forests and stunning glacial capped mountains.

Situated on 9 acres of beautifully forested land on a bluff overlooking the Kenai Wildlife Refuge, this house is just a THREE-MINUTE drive or 15-minute walk from the world famous Kenai River at Morgan's Landing State Park headquarters where you can fish from the bank. Located in Sterling on the Kenai Peninsula, Soldotna (shops, dining, laundry, movies, etc) is just a 15-minute drive away. Day trips to Homer or Seward for saltwater fishing, glacier fjord tours, art/crafts/artifacts shopping and amazing seafood dining are just 1.5 hours away. Whitewater rafting, hiking, mountain biking and canoeing are all within 20 to 45 minutes away.

From the large Chalet deck enjoy midnight sun BBQs after a hard day's fishing or hiking. You can relax here with friends while watching eagles, hawks, and loons soar in the valley below. Early morning coffee on the deck may also offer views of moose as they wander across the property.

Guests really enjoy the large lawn area which has a lovely fire pit and sitting area. Imagine relaxing by the fire, enjoying the setting sun and endless views of the Kenai National Widlife Refuge and distant Chugach National Forest mountain range.

The Chalet has a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and quality bedding/towels, and outdoor gas Weber grill. Guests have access to 2 adult mountain bikes and a variety of children's bikes. There are also a variety of fishing poles, nets and other items which can be utilized. You will have access to freezer space for your fish catch, but there is a strict NO FISH CLEANING policy on the property so as not to attract bears.

The Chalet is the upper two-story portion of a duplex. The Hide-A-Way is the bottom unit of the duplex. The Chalet master bedroom (1 queen bed) is on the top floor, with alcove (and additional full size bed) and en suite bath with jetted tub. The master also has it's own private balcony with incredible views. Downstairs are two bedrooms and another full bath. First bedroom has 1 queen bed, and enough room for an aero bed (supplied) if needed. The other bedroom (great for kids!) has a twin bunk bed, and room for regular or toddler aero bed (supplied) if needed.

The ground floor also boasts the "great room": large and comfortable kitchen, dining and living area with lots of windows and incredible views.

The Hide-A-Way has 2 bedrooms (1 with 2 sets of bunkbeds, ok for kids or adults) and the other has one queen bed). There is a 3/4 bath with laundry room. The kitchen/living area boasts a custom made rock wall gas fireplace. There is also a daybed in the living area which can be used for sleeping.

The Guest House (on same property just next to the Chalet VRBO #473943) is a second-story in-law apartment with 1 bedroom/1bath with a lovely deck and views and is available if you have a larger group. The Guest House can accommodate 3 people. Please inquire if you'd like to add the Guest House to your reservation.

This property has been in my family since 1979. Having grown up in Alaska, I understand and appreciate what a unique experience The Great Land can offer and I hope to share that with you. The Chalet is our personal vacation home, and we look forward to coming home each summer from our work overseas. Since this is our personal home, you'll find everything you need.

Alaska is a wonderland of natural beauty and amazing resources, which our family has spent generations protecting through conservation efforts. We welcome you to our home where you too can become a 'Sourdough' and share in this unique experience. The home is available year round. Winter travelers will be rewarded with an incredible show of colorful northern lights and millions of stars in the dark Arctic night. Nearby winter activities include cross-country skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and hot beverage drinking! Summer guests will be rewarded with midnight sun, vast and expansive views, solitude, wildlife, and world-class salmon and halibut fishing. COME EXPERIENCE YOUR ALASKAN DREAM VACATION!

About Juniper Neill

Raised in Alaska...this property was our family homestead. We lived a subsistance lifestyle here...which I didn't fully appreciate until I was grown up! Now I live and work overseas, but Alaska, and this property, will always be our home. I work in international conservation, and growing up in Alaska gave me a real appreciation for protecting our planet's most amazing natural places...this area being one of them!

Juniper Neill purchased this house in 1979

Why Juniper Neill chose Kenai Peninsula

There is no place like this in the whole world. We love coming home from our work overseas to this special house and tranquil setting. It's the only place in the world that feels like home.

What makes this house unique

We love to BBQ on the large back deck, overlooking the forest and distant mountain range. Nothing but trees for hundreds of miles! What a view! It's a great way to relax and just reconnect with your family in a quiet and peaceful place.

3rd Time is a Charm...Again

  • 5 of 5

This was my 3rd time staying with you and it just keeps getting better and better.

This has become my "Alaska Home" and I could not ask for a better place to be.

Your hospitality is superb, the accommodations first class + and the location and view are truly spectacular.

We had a great time on the river and the fishing was exciting as usual. Sure was nice to come back to the lodge after a cold day on the river and walk around with our socks on and feel the warmth of the radiant floor heat warming our toes.

Mahalo Juniper for your graciousness and courtesy.

Best pick for Alaska get away

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely property with multiple families and lots of kids and had the most wonderful vacation. Perfect house with every convenience, modern appliances, and everything you want/need in a rental. The back porch from the main house offers spectacular views, from breakfast to dinner, we enjoyed the lovely set-up and access to BBQ and grassy area for kids to play. You will not be disappointed!

Thank you!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time! The house was perfect for our large family get-together, and the location was the perfect base for our activities along the Kenai Peninsula. Juniper has it all covered for you when you get there, and there are no surprises.......just a beautiful home with spectacular mountain views conveniently located near all the activities. And Sharron was the perfect host to make sure we had everything we needed. We loved it!! The Harvey's and Smith's - Tennessee and New Mexico

Had a brilliant time! magnificent views! Beautiful property inside and outside. A most welcoming truly Alaska space with personal touches from Africa and Asia. Juniper has thought of everything that would make a stay comfortable. Indeed, we felt like we were staying at a friend's home. Great location to explore the area and great space to come back to after our adventures. Sharon and Buddy are great welcoming committee. Loved it. Love the Kenai. Can't wait to be back :)
