Lovely hideaway

  • 5 of 5

A terrific spot right on Peacham Pond. We loved the spacious newly constructed log cabin that easily slept our crowd (two families - 3 adults, 3 kids). The big open living room/kitchen with the fabulous fireplace was the biggest hit (we were there the first weekend of November which was gray and chilly). The kitchen is well stocked, we cooked many a fine meal and had everything we needed (ok, the peeler could use replacing...but what a small nit!!). The perfect spot for a hideaway. The house looks out on Peacham Pond which is beautiful and placid. A great area for walking (making sure don the brightly colored outerwear during hunting season (plenty of spares available to borrow). Nice firepit outside well-suited to s'mores making and tale telling.

The owners are delightful. Anthea sent a number of pre-arrival emails with directions and suggestions and was very responsive when I called needing to locate a replacement battery for a smoke detector (answer: spare batteries in a basket atop the fridge).

As beautiful as this place looks in pictures, we were astounded by the real thing! Perfect.

Not only is the place beautiful inside and out, it is fully and generously accommodating for grown-ups and children alike. So much attention and thought to every little thing. Our family had a wonderful time there.

This is an amazing, "must rent" property!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! This beautiful lake front cabin has it all... the pictures don't do it justice (not even close)! It has the rusticity of a cabin in the woods, but it has such nice touches... a beautiful gas range with pot filler, a floor to ceiling fireplace, even a water fountain built in to the front hallway for kids! Everything you could want is there for you... kayaks, boats, life jackets, fishing gear, fire pit, gas grill, "corn hole", adirondack chairs... the list goes on. If you have kids, this place is a dream. There are games, books, seating, and every imaginable baby apparatus. The decor is lovely and comfortable. I can't say enough good things about this rental. We will definitely be back... and we'll stay longer next time!!

Can't wait to return to this peaceful oasis

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful cabin was very clean, well stocked and full of character and charm! From the unexpected welcome gift when we first walked in, to all of the lovely reclaimed wood and so many little details, there was obviously a lot of thought and love that went into building this place. There were plenty of towels and a good supply of hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper ( small things that make a difference!) Anthea was so helpful about answering any questions we had and she provided a great list of local attractions and food options. The large grassy area next to the cabin gave the toddlers plenty of space to run around and also worked great for tossing a football. The cove is so peaceful and I enjoyed sitting down on the dock in the mornings and watching the mist rising up off the water.

We were surprised to see food and drinks in the fridge and freezer when we arrived but still had room for what we brought. We ended up using some of the butter and condiments but then left some of what we had brought for the next guests. Just something that might be helpful to know ahead of time.

We hope to stay here again in the future!

The Best of Vermont!

  • 5 of 5

This property is a stunning property and the perfect location for a quiet gathering of friends or family. It was well maintained and a well put together cabin with character and charm. My four kids enjoyed fishing, swimming, and boating ranging in age from 5-13 years old. Even on a rainy day my kids were able to enjoy themselves on the property. The owner offered many suggestions on amenities and activities to enjoy nearby. One of our favorite activities was Circus Smirkus in nearby Greensboro and you have to go to the Cabot Cheese Shop. The cabin has everything you might need for meals and we enjoyed Positive Pie in Plainfield as well as the Bakery in Marshfield. This was such a great experience for our family and the owner was extremely helpful with simple instructions for check-in and check-out was as simple as "We will clean the cabin. You are on vacation." My family asked for this to be yearly trip and to exclude the excursions along the way in order to spend our time on this property!

This is a custom cabin furnished with many salvaged and rustic details that we have collected over the years. It is well insulated with radiant heat throughout. The space comfortably sleeps eight with additional bedding that can made available for larger parties. We do not accept reservations for parties greater than ten.

Guests have access to the entire cabin. We provide a paddle boat and kayaks in the summer months. Guests are free to use the stacked firewood in winter.

We are available 24 hours a day by phone or email to answer any questions you may have or to help solve any problems that may arise. We also offer cleaning services at a reasonable rate for rentals longer than one week.

Peacham Pond is a scenic mountain pond and one of the few Vermont lakes where loons successfully breed. The cabins undisturbed waterfront offers a deep marshy cove with easy paddling to a couple of the ponds small islands. The wildlife habitat here and the easy access to the 26,000 acres of Groton State Forest is phenomenal for kayakers, hikers or any other outdoor enthusiast.

Direct access to VAST is within a five minute ride from the door up a groomed trail directly off of Peacham Pond Road.

We do not allow smoking or pets. We are animal lovers ourselves but have familial asthma and allergies. In our sons case, particularly to dogs.

We also do not allow burning of candles. They just present too many possibilities for accidents. We ask that outdoor fires be kept to the designated fire pit. In relation to the indoor fireplace, we ask that our visitors always use the fireplace screen provided. It is a Rumsford fireplace used for heat and by design has a shallow hearth. The screen is essential for safety.
