Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6 comfortably

You'll love the historic charm of this 2-story Foursquare Bungalow home!

Built in 1925, 'Dew Drop Inn' has architectural details found only in early Florida homes. Beautiful hardwood floors and custom decorating accent the living room with brick fireplace.

This home has been completely renovated with new kitchen and bathrooms.

The large kitchen has granite countertops and French doors lead to a large deck and the back yard.

There is one full bathroom with shower and custom tile downstairs, and three bedrooms and full bath are upstairs.

The master bedroom has a queen size Select Comfort bed with sitting area and vanity. The middle bedroom also has a queen size bed, and the front bedroom has two twin beds.

There is a front porch with seating area, and large deck in the back.

This is a family-friendly neighborhood with 'coastal urban' appeal. The location is very convenient to beaches, downtown, restaurants, shopping, and area attractions.

Public bus service and beach trolley are within walking distance.

Your hosts, Bruce and Melody, live on the same street (as do their daughter, son-in-law, and 3 lively grandchildren) and make sure that everything runs smoothly. They've been here over 15 years, and this is one of seven renovation projects they've successfully completed in the neighborhood.

About Clearwater:

Clearwater and its island beaches are one of Florida's most popular vacation spots - featuring award winning beaches, warm tropical breezes, breathtaking sunsets, a temperate and mild climate and a safer, more affordable, quieter and calmer destination. Clearwater offers extensive water recreation and both nature-based and land-based attractions, a wide-variety of special events, a unique history and culture, and accommodations for everyone's style and budget.

Top Ranked Beaches

Clearwater Beach has been named the 'Best City Beach On The Gulf Of Mexico' by experts. Caladesi Island and Sand Key beaches have been named among the best natural beaches in the United States. Caladesi Island State Park is currently ranked #1 and previously placed second, primarily for its water quality, rustic charm, clean beaches, on-site amenities and its emphasis on wildlife. (website hidden) readers ranked Clearwater Beach in their Top 10 list of best beaches from Maine to Hawaii. Cond‚ Nast Traveler has also recognized Clearwater Beach as the best city beach on the Gulf of Mexico.

Sunsets at Pier 60

Every evening the place to be is Pier 60 in the heart of Clearwater Beach. For two hours before sunset and two hours after, artisans, street performers, musicians and more take over the activity center of Clearwater Beach.

Beach Walk is a winding beachside promenade with lush landscaping, artistic touches and clear views to Clearwater's award-winning beach and the water beyond, a place where bicyclists, rollerbladers and pedestrians all have safe and convenient access and where visitors and locals can socialize, dine, play games, or simply enjoy the spectacular sun and surf.

Nature

Unspoiled and protected, our beautiful and natural parks are refuges for birds, mammals and humans alike. Brooker Creek Preserve's 8,500 acres are home to more than 160 bird species, 20 amphibians, 50 reptiles and 40 mammals, many of them rare or listed as protected in Florida and/or the nation. Weedon Island Preserve's 1,500 island acres offers 9 miles of hiking trails, 4 miles of canoe and kayak trails, a fishing pier, observation platforms and an elevated boardwalk providing an intimate view of the flora and fauna of Florida.

The Gulf of Mexico and our rivers offer watchable wildlife. Approximately 2,600 manatees inhabit our springs, bays and canals, feeding on aquatic plants. Everyone's favorite, the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, can be seen cavorting with beauty and grace. Alligators can be found in some freshwater areas of the county. And over 300 species of fish swim in our waters

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Dew Drop Inn is a nice house on a quiet street. The drive to the beach is five minutes. Bruce was very easy to work with. He was kind and welcoming and responded to text messages within minutes. The house was well furnished and had plenty of room for 5 adults. While in Clearwater, we went to the beach, to the Florida Botanical Gardens, kayaking with dolphins at Honeymoon Island State Park, on a sunset cruise, etc. It was a great time, and the Dew Drop Inn was a quiet, personal home base during our trip. Thanks to Bruce for his hospitality and his great house.

The house fit our needs and was very comfortable. Bruce was a great host and came over to meet us and let us know we could contact him for anything. Kitchen was stocked well with everything we needed to prepare meals. Loved the location. Very quite neighborhood. I can't think of anything to say negative. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic Property and Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with four friends recently stayed at the Dew Drop Inn in Clearwater. We needed a place large enough for all six of us to stay while we were attending the Clearwater Jazz Festival. We could not have chosen a better place as it was only about a mile or so to Coachman Park where the Festival was being held. The property was as advertised in the listing description, very clean and well maintained by Bruce and Melody the owners who live next door. The large house with a quaint front porch reminded us of places that we grew up in or visited back in our younger days. The interior of the house is so beautiful and very, very comfortable for all of us. Not often can you get 6 people to agree on everything but all of us did do that in regards to staying here. We are hoping to return for next years Festival. Bruce and Melody have some other properties to rent nearby so check them out! We would also like to give a shout out to "Lenny's" a fantastic restaurant that is not too far away and has the best breakfast anywhere!

Great house with a few significant complaints.

  • 2 of 5

My family and I stayed there 4/8/15 - 4/12/15. The house is very nice, spacious, clean, fully stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies, reasonably safe neighborhood. The owner Lives next door. The only problem we had was the internet wifi didn't work, which to us was a big deal since this was a working vacation and we needed the Internet. We contacted the owner and he tried to adjust the signal extender but it didn't work. The Internet is coming from his house next door and the signal just isn't strong enough, even with the extender. You can pick up the main signal from the owners house only if you're sitting on the front porch but even there it goes in and out and is very hard to keep a connection. I again notified the owner and didn't receive a response. I notified him a few more times by phone, text, and email and he never responded. This would have been an easy fix with a quick trip to Best Buy and I'm not sure why he didn't since he seems like a nice guy. I at least expected a response but didn't receive one. Three of us ended up having to buy extra data through our cell carriers so we could "hotspot" our laptops and iPads. It would have been a 4 star review if we didn't have this problem. One other thing I'd like to note is the map seems to imply the house is right on the water but it isn't. It's located near the bottom right edge of the vicinity circle, well into town, which is a bit misleading. Happy travels and if the Internet gets fixed this is a fine place to stay

Owner's Response: If you’re a prospective guest who has just read the above review, please take a moment to read our other reviews before judging us on this one review. I’m not sure why this guest “Bram A.” felt that having problems with the internet connection warranted a drop from “4 starts” to “2 stars”. I had explained to him that we have had ongoing problems with our internet service provider (BrightHouse), and the connections had been dropping recently. He, his sister, and his brother-in-law texted, emailed or called frequently, and I kept up with responses as best I could. He was not totally ignored, as indicated in his review, and our other reviews will attest to our attention to host responsibilities. His brother-in-law, who also stayed with him, sent me this message two weeks after their departure: “Hello Bruce. My wife, brother-in-law, and I stayed at your home a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that the pictures you are listing your home for rent with in no way do your unique house justice. I’m a photographer and while we were there I took a few photographs. I’m sure that some great photography would definitely help increase bookings. Thanks again. My family really enjoyed your place and we'll be back again.” We have not had any other complaints about the internet service since their departure. Regarding the map issue: VRBO had placed a general location circle on the map, giving the impression the home is closer to the waterfront. I have corrected that after Bram brought that to my attention. We have never stated that the house was waterfront, and the address is easily located on the map. The home is ½ mile from the intra-coastal waterfront, and 2 miles from Clearwater Beach – an easy drive or bike ride on the trail.

Spring in clearwater

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful stay in a wonderful house! The house was great! Clean, updated baths, kitchen. Everything is well cared for and the house is stocked with everything you'll need for a pleasant trip. Bruce was wonderful and easy to deal with, always available if needed.

The house was a 5 minute drive from Clearwater beach and 10 from sand key!

Spring is great in Clearwater! We had a great stay and would love to return! Thanks Bruce!
