About the property

Falmouth Waterfront: Charming Waquoit Bay Three Bedroom Cottage

Experience Cape Cod charm in a cozy cottage on the water, for rent by the week, month, or other for the summer. The Cottage is on a large lot with a small beach at the foot of the bay. This three bedroom Waquoit Bay (East Falmouth) home is open concept with fireplace and 180 degree views of Waquoit Bay.

A nook alongside the kitchen provides the perfect place to start the day as you receive first light of the rising sun. The cottage sleeps six (probably more if they are children).

Excellent location for kayaking with easy access. Additionally, the cottage is 100 yards from a public boat launch if you would like to bring your boat (with plenty of room for trailer storage). While there is no dock it is easy to anchor the boat on the beach. Fishing is excellent at the mouth of the bay with Washburn Island (National Estuary Research Reserve) and South Cape State Beach framing the head of the bay. Waquoit bay is a shallow sandy bay great for the explorer, shell collector, and sun worshiper in all of us.

About Blake Cullimore

This is a family owned house, all of whom have spent time on the bay with fond memories of sailing, rowing, swimming, clamming, exploring, sitting, reading, and generally embodying summer on the Cape at its idyllic best. With my two children (7 and 4) and often a friend or two of theirs we spend several weeks of the summer exploring beaches and Washburn island. It is our hope that whoever joins us to experience Waquoit becomes a friend and an annual guest.

Blake Cullimore purchased this cottage in 1926

Why Blake Cullimore chose Cape Cod

The cottage was built in 1926 by my great grandfather and has been used as a vacation home or all season home since then. As generations of us have spent our summers on the Bay. it is the perfect location for a family, individual, or couple looking to relax and slow down.

What makes this cottage unique

There is sometimes nothing better than watching the comings and goings of life on the water. The house enjoys a near perfect location for a sunrise across the bay with views that extend 2 miles down-bay. While the area has plenty of public beach access. You can swim, Quohog, crab, and build sand castles right in front of the house. You can also go down bay and have access to incredible beaches on Vineyard sound or in the bay where the shallow water stays warm and inviting, perfect for children and lazing about.

Car: necessary

Falmouth is a town of villages all with something unique to offer. One of our favorites is to take the bike path to Wood Hole. All except the first couple miles is all along the waterfront an all in is about 10 miles to Woods Hole. For a shorter ride, drive to Woods Hole and take the bike path along the old rail line back towards town and stop whenever and turn around and go back to your starting point or noodle around Woods Hole and grab a drink. You will not be disappointed.

Also, for a great day trip ride to the ferry and take your bike over too Martha's Vineyard for the day. I think its best to do it by bike vs walking/bus and its cheaper than taking the car over never-mind the hassle factor.

There are a number of places that due sunset cruises, and an old schooner in Falmouth Harbor is one of the most enjoyable ways to see the sound and the cape from the water.
