Overview

Kona Coast Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Our Kona Bali Kai 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom with Full Width Lanai Condominium is DIRECT OCEAN FRONT with an underhand rock toss to the sea wall. You can't get any closer and stay dry. If you want DIRECT Ocean Front, DIRECTLY in front of the most popular Island surf break in a TOTALLY remodeled unit at a great price you have found it.

Note: I am traveling until June 7th. I do not have phone access while traveling overseas but can respond to emails/accept bookings/block out dates, etc. during my trip. Deposits would be ran thru my 3rd party secure transaction company upon my return or you can book direct thru the VRBO site but it does have an extra fee by doing so.

Our late 2010 purchased condo underwent a complete (demo'd to block walls and rebuilt over a 3 month period) $75,000 remodel with the work managed by the retired Project Manager Owner. New custom cherry cabinets in Kitchen/Baths, Matching Granite slab counters, new front walkway windows and rear Lanai sliders, new custom tiled showers (Master bath w/ glass block enclosure), new patterned floor tile in Greatroom/lanai, new bedroom rugs, newer Samsung 52" flat panel High def. TV and Blue Ray player. Quality Casablanca Fans in each major room and 12,000 BTU AC unit. We also provide free long distance calls to the Mainland US/Canada and free Wifi.

The famous (site of frequent competitions) Banyan Surf Break is again DIRECTLY in front of our unit so you'll enjoy watching the surfers while relaxing on the lanai. Our unit is on the convenient 3rd building level with free ground level parking and no steps to unit with use of the elevator.

The Living Room and Master Bedroom each utilize floor to ceiling sliders accessing the spacious ocean front lanai. The new sliders are double glass so you can control the ocean surf noise level in the condo by opening or shutting the doors. Custom shoji type silhouette sliding glass panels (Unique to Kona Bali Kai) separate the Greatroom from the MBR.

The accessible coastline in front of Kona Bali Kai has tide pools and sandy areas - perfect for poking around on a lazy afternoon. Free propane fired outdoor barbeques are available for guests and a turtle (Hono) visitor or two is a frequent sight.

Condo square footing including lanai is about 1,000'. You will notice VRBO ads for KBK 2BR units show different sizes. All 2 BR KBK units are the same size to my knowledge! The interior is just over 800' and the full width lanai is about 200 square feet.

White Sands County Park is 1 mile south, Kahaluu snorkeling beach/bay is 2 miles south and there is a great small hidden beach a short walk away I'll tell you about in my client letter upon booking.

We live a mile south of KBK most of the year at an ocean view condo we managed as a vacation rental for 10 years before retiring and moving to Kona in 2009. We understand how important our guests vacation time is and do our utmost to provide a positive experience. You are dealing directly with the owners here (not a Property Management Company).

Important Note: VRBO/Homeaway instituted a new, expensive "service" fee in Feb. 2016 for direct thru VRBO bookings. This service fee is collected and kept by VRBO (not the owner) and in my STRONG opinion does not benefit you, our customer.

For direct VRBO bookings VRBO charges me, the owner, a higher than market rate for credit card transaction fees.

To save money please click on the "owner send email" button (NOT the book it button which directs you to the expensive, direct VRBO booking system.

After I receive your date request, etc. I will send you a proposal, usually within 24 hours, which will include no VRBO service fee, no refundable security deposit and savings on the posted nightly rate. I use a 3rd party provider for secure credit card transactions.

Note: If advertising owners don't agree to allow VRBO direct bookings they are severely "punished" by lower placement in the site rankings/searches which is why I currently allow it.

If you do some research on the web you will find massive anger about this new VRBO service fee and their new business model (VRBO was recently purchased by Expedia).- it will be interesting to see what shakes out on this topic in the near future.

We provide a detailed 16 page guest letter to our clients listing our favorite guide book and information on a host of our favorite beaches, day hikes and snorkel spots to help you with your vacation planning.

There is a Concierge available in the Kona Bali Kai lobby to help you with commercial excursions like Luau's, etc.

Sharon is a part time commercial artist specializing in tropical flower water colors. You will enjoy several examples of her paintings in the condo.

Master Bedroom has a full size king bed with nightstands and chest of drawers; 2nd BR has a queen bed with nightstands, dresser and 26' LCD TV.

If unit 305 is booked check out our sister condo @ Kona Bali Kai unit 219. Its listed under VRBO #490632. Unit 219 is just like 305 except a reverse layout and located 1 level below + a few units to the north of unit 305. Unit 219 welcomed our first client in Dec. 2013 after completion of an $80K+ full remodel.

Kindly take the time to read our client referrals - you will find them unparalleled!

About Lynn Noffsinger

Lynn Noffsinger (retired Intel Engineer) and Sharon Noffsinger (retired Elementary Educator) were able to achieve a long term goal by moving to Hawaii in early 2009. Our nearby residence (1 mile south from Kona Bali Kai) was a successful VRBO vacation rental (# 2767) for 10 years from 1999 to 2009. We understand the importance of our clients vacation time and make every effort to provide an outstanding value. Many of our former clients were repeat visitors or friends and family of previous clients.

Except when off island we accomplish all turnovers ourselves to insure the condo is perfect for your arrival.

Lynn Noffsinger purchased this condo in 2010

Why Lynn Noffsinger chose Kona Coast

Direct oceanfront facing a world class surfbreak with the best climate in the world. What else can we say other than how do you spell Pina Colada??

What makes this condo unique

First you need to make the impossible choice of enjoying the lanai view or hop in the rental car and go exploring.

For lunch why not utilize the provided ocean front barbecues or check out the small 'POKI Shack' take-out lunch spot next to the lobby for some island 'soul' food and a brewski?? Poki is the island version of Ahi (Tuna) sushi.

Across the street is a convenience store for those forgotten condiments, drinks and snacks.

A concierge is available in the lobby nearly every day to help you plan excursions and local events.

Free island bus service is available in front of the building along with a frequent $2/trip tourist shuttle into town and shopping.

Too many options, not enough time - recommend enjoying the lanai view and watching the surfers wipe out while you mull over options.

There is also a small, secluded sand beach with water access a short walk away I'll tell you about it in my Guest letter after you complete your booking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"This Apartment was incredible. The ambiance and scenery were amazing and the sunsets on my goodness... The convenience of this location coupled with the activities in the neighboring community was all I needed. Great Apartment. Would highly recommend to anyone."

The Absolute Best

  • 5 of 5

This is by far the best condo we have ever stayed at in the Hawaiian Islands. Totally updated and at the best location on the island. You get a surf show from dawn to dusk and it is as oceanfront as you can possibly be. Conveniently located for most island activities. The owners are very helpful and live nearby. We would definitely stay here again. I would give this six stars if I could.

Nothing Short of Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Kona Bali Kai three times, and this trip didn't disappoint. The condo is steps from the ocean, and our view from the lanai was spectacular. We were able to see whales from the lanai, as well as watch the surfers hop into the ocean right below our lanai, swim out to the waves, and surf on some of the best waves in the world. The condo itself is very comfortable, with a nicely upgraded kitchen and bathrooms, and the master suite was very comfortable. There is plenty to do on the Big Island, but if you feel like a quiet day at "home" there's no better place to enjoy a relaxing day than spending it on the lanai, coffee in hand in the morning reading a book and watching the ocean waves, and enjoying a glass of wine and spectacular sunset in the evening. We highly recommend the Poke Shack for a new culinary experience if you haven't tried it yet! We tried snorkeling for the first time, and enjoyed our first trip to Hilo. Don't forget to hike to the Green Sand Beach. It's an experience you won't forget! We are looking forward to another trip to the Big Island in 2018, and would enjoy staying at this condo again. Lynn was easy to work with and gave us many helpful tips on making the most of our stay on the Big Island. It truly is paradise on earth, and it's a privilege to have the opportunity to visit.

Excellent Condo

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just finished our second stay in this condo. We were first here in 2013 and enjoyed it so much that we knew we would return. The condo is very clean and modern. The lanai, which is my favorite spot to relax while at the condo, is nearly 30 feet from the ocean. One of the many great aspects of the lanai is that it is facing west and the sun is rarely bearing down on you. This makes it a very comfortable location in which one

can read, watch others surf, listen to the waves, or enjoy a meal at any time. When it comes time for sunset, you already have a first class seat.

The kitchen is fully stocked, which makes meal time easy. The convenience of having a washer and dryer in the condo is fantastic. The beds are very comfortable and loaded with pillows.

The condo is in a great location. It's close to a lot of activities and great places to dine. Da Poke Shack is located on the property, which is one of the local treasures everyone should try.

Lynn and Sharon are very helpful and live nearby. When we return to Kona again, we will definitely be staying here.

island paradise

  • 5 of 5

we greatly enjoyed our stay at Kona Bali Kai resort. Lynn, the owner, was very helpful and his information was bang-on!! Condo was clean and nicely upgraded and the location was perfect..fairly close to the downtown area but just far enough out that you were out of the downtown hustle and bustle and still close enough to take advantage of all Kona had to offer. had surfers put a show on daily right out our lanai, from 6 am to dusk.... Pool, hot tub, and Poke shack restaurant at complex are all great. Lots of sea life all along the coast and so many fish, turtles, and sea life right below our lanai that we were exploring daily right outside our door!! we toured most of the island and can't say enough about the abundance of activities the big island has to offer! we had 3 families in our group with the youngest a five year old, and we went hard for ten days...with everyone included...the island has something for everyone!!

we would recommend a car rental for the duration of your stay. be kind to yourself and pick it up at the airport and drop it off there on your way out...keep things simple..you're on holidays!!

Must see items for us:

Volcano park - be kind to yourself and stay overnight if possible...so much to see and do here that one day doesn't do it justice.

Waipio lookout and black sand beach - tough hike down and much tougher going up, but the black sand beach below is worth the effort. A one of a kind experience again, watch the surfers or just walk the beach..but don't forget your camera!!

Hwy 200 between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa - An otherworldly experience in the moonscape between these two peaks. highway is fantastic and the sights are like no other. many options for hikes and pics of different lava types and vegetation here. at the end is city of Hilo and all the culture and activities there.

Kohala Coast - with its white sand beaches, this area is great for the families with boogie boarding and body surfing, and all the sun and white sand. picture perfect!!

Green Sand beach- very walkable from parking area - about 45 min but bring good footwear and lots of water. also very windy everywhere here so be ready for a lot of sand, etc in face and eyes. beach is one of a kind so a must-do for us. we paid locals to drive us to beach..$100 for 10 of us was worth it. great surf beach but not great for unattended young kids. stop at coffee stop on road back to hwy...

read Lynn's newsletter- most valuable!!

Awesome Stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I rented this condo for nine nights recently. We were just feet from the beach and spent many relaxing hours watching the surfers and the waves, it was just stunning! In the evenings we often saw turtles swimming close to shore. The condo was perfect- updated and contemporary with every item you needed to cook your own meals. I would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay, the view is unforgettable! Watching the local surfers, whales and turtles on the beach are all great, but the amazing sunsets were our favorite. We appreciated the casual feel of the condo and how clean and comfortable it is. Free parking is always great too! Thanks Lynn and Sharon!

Kona has the best climate in Hawaii/perhaps the world. Little rain and what there is comes mostly in the evening and nighttime. Enjoy waking up to sunny mornings and enjoying your direct ocean front Lanai.

Lots of beaches/ocean activities/golfing/restaurants and hiking to keep your days as busy as you want them.

When booking our condo we provide you with the name of our favorite guide book and our favorite activities with a 'difficulty' rating!
