A creative barn conversion. This enchanting open plan property has 1 double ensuite bedroom on a separate level to the kitchen/ lounge which is accessed by the street .
Situated in a stunning location which has fabulous countryside views in the quaint medieval village of Mont Saint Jean. Two hours from Paris makes it an ideal break on the way South. The stripped back wooden decor gives this house a true mountain retreat feel.
There is a large sloping garden overlooking a vineyard and an orchard, ideal for picnics and lounging about in the sun.
At street level the property has a big country kitchen with a La Canche stove, log burner, tommette floor and floor to ceiling windows. The double bedroom is accessed via this floor and has a walk in shower and separate toilet.
This is an artistic home with loads of character and a great base from which to explore the region. For history lovers , the oldest hospice in France is a walk away as well as a beautiful feudal castle.. Vineyards.' spring gardens and bric-a-brac markets, summer music and wine events, autumn Jazz, Christmas markets and winter wine festivals; there is always something going on no matter what time of the year.Close to home is Saulieus Saturday food market , a hunt for treasures at the local brocante, wine tasting, or a balloon ride across the region. For nature lovers - the region is a bird watchers paradise.
But don't let all that get in the way of a stay in this welcoming, warm and invigorating home.
Please note there is a lower ground floor studio apartment which has its own entrance and is available to rent separately.
I am Australian and after 2 decades in the UK decided I needed to have a complete change. In my mind Burgundy has the best of France, great food, magnificent cattle and wonderful wine. I hope visitors can enjoy the change of pace as much as I have.
anna morgan purchased this farmhouse in 2011
Mont St Jean is one of Burgundy's hidden treasures. The best views in the Auxois region.
A peaceful home to rest and recuperate from the fast pace of modern life.
A lovely place to rest, to walk, to smell the grass, hear the birds and have drinks on the terrace, to sleep and wake up with a good feeling.
Anna is a gracious host with some good tips on places to visit. Her studio condo is beautiful but we were lucky to be upgraded to the much larger one bedroom. The views are so good I felt like I was in a painting - the vineyard, the gardens (both flower gardens and vegetable gardens), the cows, the rolling hills - it was mesmerizing! The evenings were cooler and the fireplace added just another romantic aspect to the lovely barn. She did an incredible job creating this very special home; the quintessential barn/farm house in the French countryside. It was spacious with a full modern kitchen, fireplace, washer/dryer, large shower, plenty of hot water and peaceful. I would recommend this with 2 thumbs up! We also had dinner at the Château just across the street and I would highly recommend that as well.
The property is in a quiet hamlet with impressive views of the valley. The property is well maintained and has been tastefully renovated with adequate kitchen equipment. The amenities were as described except there is no washing machine, but Anna kindly did a load of washing for us. It was delightful sitting on the deck overlooking the valley eating our meals or having pre dinner drinks. Anna was a most helpful host whose local knowledge was much appreciated. A lovely weekend escape or a quiet time away from busy city living. We enjoyed a meal at the hotel La Roche just across the road and spent time looking at the nearby villages and chateau Neuf .
Anna is lovely friendly hospitable host & has set up a very stylish spacious & comfortable studio apartment
The village is charming and friendly
Great location for peaceful retreat & easy to get to many delightful villages as well as Meursault & Beaune
The setting was wonderful - overlooking a typical Burgundian valley with pastures of Charolais cows, forests and local vineyards. Our hostess, Anna was charming, fun and full of ideas for things to do and places to visit in the area. Some of her suggestions were wine tastings locally and in Beaune, (we discovered a Marsannay Rosé, exquisite), Châteaux visits, antique hunting at "vide greniers" and the "incontrournable" Saturday morning market and Café Parisienne in Saulieu. The glass of chilled white wine at 11 o’clock on the terrace and the after-market hustle and bustle created that unique French atmosphere unbeatable anywhere in the world.
The accommodation is bright, clean, cheerful and recently decorated. We had breakfast and dinner on the terrace almost every day. It was early in the season and the under floor heating was divine. Everything was as advertised. I do recommend Anna’s Studio to all.
I cannot recommend this highly enough. It is a beautiful place in a wonderfully scenic location! It is so peaceful and Anna is a great host who could not have been more welcoming! Will be telling friends about this hidden gem!
A beautiful rustic property with a modern twist! Our stay was comfortable and pleasant. Beautiful views, unique features in the house and garden with a charming medieval village nearby!
