Updated 3 bedroom, 2 Bathroom beach condo on the 9th floor. Great ocean views, and property views from the terrace. Flat screen TV, DVD, Free Wifi. Master bedroom has a king size bed, with a full bathroom and walk in closet, two other bedrooms have queen beds. All rooms have A/Cs and ceiling fans, though with the trade winds from the ocean, you will likely only need the fans.
On the property you have access to tennis and basketball courts as well as playground and communal pool. And to the beach!!
I am a native New Yorker and my parents are born in Puerto Rico. I spent most of my summers growing up, on this beautiful island. As an adult, I have visited many other islands and Puerto Rico remains one of my favorites. I am Bilingual Spanish and English.
Janet Licet purchased this condo in 2013
Playa Azul is a great property. Not only for the obvious reason because it is on the beach...but it is in an area that is conducive to tourist, while not being overrun by tourist. So you get the feel of resident living with all the amenities and attractions you want as a tourist. This property is in a gated community with a security desk. The personnel is friendly and helpful. And follow security protocols.
Supermarket across the street, restaurants within walking distance, bank right outside of the property. Tourist attractions such as El Yunque within 5 minute drive. Building and grounds well maintained.
We enjoyed Luquillo beach areas. We walked many steps in both directions. The public beach was a little crowded on the weekend but even at that it's plenty big for folks to get in the beautiful aquamarine water. There were other places not so smooth that was good for boogie boarding and surfing which we did not do either of. But it was fun to watch. The rain forest is very close by and we did that two days as we somehow got the rainiest week of the season. It did not matter if we were wet in the rain forest so that was fine. Everywhere we went we heard this was very odd to have high rain and winds. It's amazing that you have an ocean view from all the rooms. Sounds impossible but you see different parts of the water. The owner and caregiver we're both very helpful at a moments notice. The elevators work fine which was important to us as one of our sons had knee surgery a little while back and did not need to use the stairs anymore than necessary. We enjoyed the cats sitting around outside. i'm sure that families with young children would enjoy the playground outback. And the big pool. It was too cool for us to do much of that with all the rain and wind. We enjoyed being on the beach for two full days when we had sunshine. We also drove back to Olde San Juan to visit one of the forts. That was a fun day. We would not hesitate to stay in the same unit again we had a wonderful time.
We spent five days in this wonderful property. It was everything as described in the HomeAway site. Very tastefully decorated, Impeccably clean, comfortable, with all the amenities. Very peaceful. The three rooms provided the comfort, and privacy, we wanted for our stay. Walking distance from great restaurants, food store, bank and pharmacy. Easy walk to the beach. We will come back again!
My mother, sister and I rented this unit to celebrate our mother's 81st birthday. We wanted a place that we could be comfortable in and feel at home. This condo was perfect. The unit is very clean, and the furniture is nice and comfortable. The owner Janet, provides all of the essentials (bath towels, kitchen equipment, etc) and some nice extras (beach chairs, wifi) and is very responsive if you have any questions and/or concerns. The property manager Enoc and his staff were also a pleasure. He was available and took care of any minor issues quickly and efficiently. The security staff at the front gate and in the lobby of the building were extremely friendly. We felt very safe in this gated complex. My mother, sister & I were very comfortable in our bedrooms. There is a wonderful breeze that comes through the windows and terrace, plus every room has a ceiling fan, so if you prefer not to sleep in air conditioning, you will be fine. My mother isn't a fan of bugs, and we were very happy to NOT encounter a single one during our stay!
The location is quite convenient and across the road from Walgreens, Amigo Supermarket, KFC, McDonalds & Subway. There is a great strip of restaurants about 2 minutes away as well (Los Kioscos) where we had some awesome authentic Spanish food. When you decide to venture out of Luquillo, the complex is easy to get back to as it is right off of a main road, but if you have Waze or Google Maps, you'll be fine.
We did not spend time at the pool as there wasn't any shaded areas and our mother wasn't interested in baking in the afternoon sun, but we could see that it was very clean and well maintained. We spent time on the beach, which is right outside of the complex and it was very nice (with Palm Trees to sit mother under). My mother said she could hear the waves from the ocean in her bedroom every morning (she slept in the master bedroom).
Thank you Janet for helping us make our mother's 81st birthday a special one! We had an awesome time and would definitely stay in your unit again. My mother and sister kept commenting on how impressed they were that you checked in on us several times; your customer service is impeccable!
May God continue to pour His blessings upon you!
The location was perfect and easy to find. It's located on one of the nicest beaches in PR. The condo had everything we needed. The beds are comfortable, and two of the 3 bedrooms have beach views. The security staff was very friendly and we felt very secure on the property.
Janet, the owner, and Enoc, the property manager, were both very responsive and answered all questions aboit check in and checkout within a couple minutes.
This beach was perfect. Straight out from the property, the beach had big waves rolling in, perfect for boogie boarding and playing around, just a couple hundred yards west and their is a reef that breaks the waves and is perfect for snorkeling Along the outside edge. You can see the calm water here from the condo balcony. A short walk on the beach east will bring you to Boardriders restaurant. It was a little pricey, but food and drinks were delicious.
There is a Walgreens, Amigo supermarket (Walmart owned) McD's, Subway, and KFC/Taco Bell, all in walking distance or a 2 min drive from the condo in case you need groceries or a quick snack.
Fajardo is only about 10 minutes away and has a little more shopping and higher end dining options. We only drove through on our way to Ceiba for a scuba excursion (About a 35 minute drive) . The rainforest is also only about 20-30 minutes away- which you also have an amazing view of from the condo.
Tip- if going to the rainforest, I do not recommend a guide from this location. It was easy to get to and the trails are very clearly marked- the most popular trails are actually paved. I was nervous about this, but was thankful we didn't waste money on the guided tours. Those people were getting rushed around in large groups. I find it much more enjoyable to hike and sightsee and our own pace and was not nervous at all once we got there and saw how well everything was marked.
Finally, we would definitely stay in this condo or another in the Playa Azul property if we get a chance to come back to PR.
The condo itself had nice furnishings and was clean and comfortable and was a good value for the money. However, there is no wifi. And we had several questions during our stay and never got any answers. It wasn't a big deal as we figured everything out with the help of the building's security guard. The biggest complaint is only having one key for the condo and the grounds. We were traveling with two other couples and we had to do everything together, i.e. walk the beach, use the pool, etc. The one key is needed for everything you do on the property. And the beach gate is locked at 7:00 p.m. One night we walked the beach to get dinner at Boardriders and when we returned, we had to walk several blocks through a neighborhood to get into the property through the main gate. I understand it's for your security but it was a little frustrating. The beaches are beautiful and you can walk a long distance in both directions. Most restaurants in the area have closed their individual locations and are located in the Kiosks on the main beach. There are plenty of options for dining at the Kiosks. We would definitely return to the area, just not sure we would stay in this condo complex.
My husband and I occupied this apartment on our 5 days stay in this great secured location. This apartment is very comfortable with patio and kitchen including utensils which was my perfect stay. The huge flat screen tv with cable and leather sofa set we enjoyed a lot. The nice bathrooms were very clean and well kept. The view of the park, tennis court, beach and the sounds of the ocean with the breeze, through the palm trees it's just like paradise. No need for the AC. In the area about 2 mins drive, there is kioscos, restaurants and the El yunque (the waterfall). Across from the apartment building, there is a shopping area including Walgreens, and Subway. While we were being welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff, the owner Janet made it a perfect home away from home experience for us.
My husband and I would like to thank Janet and the staff for this great wonderful experience . Our stay was super awesome !! We will be back soon. God bless.
Condo is on one of the best beaches in the Island, Luquillo Beach. 5 mins from El Yunque Rainforest. Best snorkeling on the island can be found in Cuelbra which is a ferry ride away from Fajardo. For Casinos and golfing, you have El Conquistador Resort and Hotel in nearby Fajardo just next town over. In addition, there are plenty of options for shopping Walmart, Kmart, Ralph's, TJ Maxx and an Outlet Mall in Canovanas all within 20 mins. And San Juan is just 40 mins away.
