Villa Blanca - Design and Sleek Sophistication in Montecito
The streamlined architecture of this contemporary home stands in contrast to the natural rolling foothills of Montecito. The message is subtly clear: rest and rejuvenation are built into the design of this home.
Villa Blanca sits atop Ortega Ridge, a well known perch with spectacular ocean views, but it will be the magnificent mountain landscape that will capture the souls of those who stay here. Often during the year, and especially in the fall and winter months, colorful sunsets paint colors of primrose and lavender across the hills. It is this fleeting "pink moment" that locals cherish about this location.
With a minimalist aesthetic, soaring ceilings and wall to wall windows and doors guarantee an abundance of light and sunshine to permeate every space. The Living Room, with whimsical striped sofas, compliments the "pink moment" of twilight. Twin chaises with a design nod to fainting couches of the 20's, are the perfect spot for an afternoon nap, or to enjoy a good book in front of the wood burning fireplace. Adding to the casual sophistication is the formal dining table of glass and comfortable upholstered chairs.
The large gourmet Kitchen has sweeping granite counters, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and cabinets of stainless steel and etched glass. Echoing the unique lighting in the Living Room, enormous pendants of iron and glass crystals are suspended above the center island and breakfast bar. In Great Room style, a sitting area adds options for guests to relax and unwind in front of a second fireplace and still stay close to the Kitchen for conversations and culinary genius!
Connecting patios on the north side of the home face the mountain views. Conveniently located just outside the Kitchen is a patio with barbecue and a round teak table that seats four. The more formal outdoor dining patio seats 8 guests, and is adjacent to the Living and Dining Room. A spectacular glass arbor soars overhead and frames the magnificent views.
The main Master Suite is large in scale, with a richly colored Mahogany sleigh bed offering more traditional style in contrast to the contemporary design. Sliding doors lead to a private Patio with mountain views and access to the Dining Patios.
The grand Master Bathroom evokes the most luxurious spa. An oval soaking tub in front of floor to ceiling windows is the focal point of this amazing room. A dry sauna, his and her vanities, and large glass shower with drenching rain shower head complete the luxury appointments. Outside, a small enclosed patio is steeped in fragrance with a formal rose garden and access to the pool and terrace.
A second Master Suite features a fireplace, king-size bed, book collection, ocean views and sliding doors to the pool terrace just outside. A full Bathroom completes this spacious and romantic suite.
Two more Guest Rooms share a "Jack and Jill" style bathroom. Each bedroom features ocean views, queen-size beds and sliding doors to the pool terrace.
The Media Room will be the most popular gathering place for family movie nights, or the big game! A sleek glass desk in the room makes it possible to get important work done while keeping track of the score! As with every room in this home, sliding doors lead to outdoor patios.
When one needs to enjoy the peace and solitude of the outdoors, enter the "Zen" garden. With its comfortable seating arrangement and hammock, quiet your mind, body, and soul. The large fountain and fire pit add tranquility, with warmth to gather around for relaxation.
The lap pool and built-in spa are the central focus of the pool terrace facing the ocean and island views. A large, lipstick red sectional sofa offers a comfortable place to lounge and remain close to pool activity. Purposefully, a low pony wall surrounds the property to avoid taking anything away from the blue crystal waters and islands that make up the nearly 360 degree views from the mountains to the pristine coastline.

7-Night minimum for all bookings made before May 1st.
3-Night minimum for current year bookings made after May 1st.
Thanksgiving Week (Any dates which include Thanksgiving Day)
7-Night minimum for all bookings made before Oct 1st.
3-Night minimum for current year bookings made after Oct 1st.
Christmas Weeks (Dec 19 - 26 & Dec 26 - Jan 2)
7-Night minimum (in the fixed weeks above) for all bookings made before Nov 1st.
3-Night minimum (and flexible dates) for current year bookings made after Nov 1st.
Stays of less than 30 nights are subject to a 10% Lodging Tax + $2/night Tourism Tax.
$400 Cleaning Fee (14+ night stays require additional cleaning fees), Booking Fee (varies based on reservation cost).
$3,500 security deposit refundable within 14 days of checkout. Deposit is reduced to $875 with purchase of Damage Waiver.
30+ night stays require extra security deposit, and do not qualify for the damage waiver program.

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful house for two months this winter. The views of the mountains are spectacular, and you also have a distant glimpse of the Pacific. The enormous windows and glass doors make you feel as if you are living outside. The Montecito location is beautiful and quiet, but still convenient to downtown Santa Barbara. One level living was definitely a plus, as was the comfortable media room.
