Spacious, charming 1896 cottage at the top of quiet, magical footpath. Has a peaceful, “tree-top” feel but is only a 2-3 min. walk to island grocery store, restaurants, coffee shop, ice cream, ferry (Whole Foods delivers!) and 8 min. walk to Sandy Beach. Also convenient for weddings at the Inn. Relax on the sun or open-air porches, read a book by the gas fireplace at night, grill your dinner on the large back deck or pop in to Portland for a day trip on the ferry. New couches, new beds in three bedrooms (two full, one queen) and various updates make this a delightful home-away-from-home for your relaxed island holiday. Welcome to the Coast of Maine!

Owner/Manager purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Owner/Manager chose Peaks Island
We bought this place to set down roots on the East Coast again, to reconnect our family with family and friends in the summer time and because we love Maine. We hope you will love this cottage and your time on Peaks.
What makes this Cottage unique
Some of our favourite things about this cottage are its spaciousness and character, the quiet and friendliness of the neighbourhood, and the closeness to the ferry, stores and Sandy Beach. Peaks Island itself is just so lovely and peaceful and close to the awesome city of Portland.

We came back
This was our second of what we hope will become an annual summer stay on Peaks Island in this lovely cottage. We booked our 2015 rental hoping for the best, and all expectations were exceeded, so we were back again this summer for 2 weeks. We love everything about this cottage: the location is close to the ferry & local island restaurants, but far enough from the main roads to be quiet and private. The beds are great. The kitchen, deck, and grill allowed us to entertain family members who visited from Portland (via their own boat) and the 4 who stayed for 2 nights in the extra bedrooms. And the short ferry ride meant that we could make dinner reservations at any of the amazing Portland restaurants and be there & back without a car. The cottage is furnished with all the amenities you'd expect for a rental plus a washer/dryer. We stocked up on groceries at Hannaford's in Portland before taking the car ferry over on our first Saturday and replenished at the little grocery on Peaks, Hannigan's. We had a few meals at the 3 restaurants: the Cockeyed Gull is the best, but the others are fine if you don't want to cook or leave the island. Our visiting family members rented bikes from Brad's, and we all spent some time at the sandy beach (where the water is chilly!). Peaks is the best of both worlds in Maine -- it's close to downtown Portland with all its charm and great dining, and in 15 minutes you're on an island!
this is our second trip here so we knew what to expect.
quiet and away from noise of the pier or restaurant down by the pier. I bring my own sheets, and also my car. Be aware there is no car ferry on Monday and Tuesday after 5:15 pm. I learned the hard way with a car full of groceries and two kids, stuck in Portland.
Comfortable house with a grand kitchen. Short cut to ferry is a plus. Great neighbors.
Definitely a classic cottage as the title states. You are responsible for garbage and recycling, but that is just a fact of island living. The drop off is a quick ride down the quiet road. Miss the sound of the fog horn at night....Definitely a place that you want to return to.
Dear Karen, So glad you had another good stay. Thanks for the tip about Monday and Tuesday car ferry--didn't realize that myself! Any chance you might be returning in 2018? We are getting inquiries already!
Loved this place. Large kitchen with a nice long table for meals and games. Beds comfortable. Great porch with comfy chairs.
So glad you enjoyed the house, Joan! Thanks for these comments and we'd love to have you back. All the best, Tim
The cottage was Perfect!
When I walked in I felt my dream of a Maine ocean cottage had come true! It was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Loved the Andrew Wyeth artwork throughout the cottage.
Tim was an excellent host...friendly and easy to communicate with. Received a welcome text and a departing text...very thoughtful.
Great location! Short walk to the Ferry, the Inn, the Church and the Market. It was the perfect place to stay for my nieces wedding weekend.
Already dreaming of my next visit! Hoping to return next summer for a longer visit!
Michelle, We're so glad you had such a good time and enjoyed the cottage! We'd love to have you return.
great location to ferry
owner was very hopeful. great location to ferry. easy walk to everthing on island.
So glad it was a good fall stay, Maureen!
Experience was peaceful and met our expectations. Great location-close to shops, eating, & ferry
Upon arrival, we had a problem with key pickup but owner quickly responded and resolved the issue.
We especially enjoyed the Cockeyed Gull's fabulous food and service. Enjoyed long walks and sightseeing. The ocean side was a pleasant surprise we discovered on a drive. We took our car over as we travelled many miles to get there but it was not necessary to get around as everything is close at hand.
The first thing about the cottage we noticed was how clean it was. The bed was great, the washer/dryer was a positive aspect, and the radio had several good stations.
