This is our main residence and we are happy to offer it to guests of San Francisco during the time we are traveling. It is a very spacious and tastefully furnished house on multiple levels. It is in the southern part of town, close to both 101 and 280, as well as 19th Avenue. Closest BART station Glen Park is 3-4min drive away. SFO airport is 15min to the South, the Ball Park and the Ferry Building are 12-15 min to the North.
The house is located halfway between two neighborhoods with their own distinct character - Glen Park and West Portal. Both offer a variety of restaurants and a short drive North will bring you into Noe Valley with yet more choices. San Francisco is - for some surprisingly - a rather small town, so a short drive will get you into a very different neighborhood within just minutes.
The beach is 12-15min away from the house. And if you want to leave the car behind, bus #23 will take you there without transfers.
And now about the house...
Large living room with a fireplace invites you to kick up and discuss the events of the day. Floor to ceiling windows as well as skylights fill the upper level with light. The living room offers sweeping views to the South - on a sunny day on one side you see the ocean, on the other - the Bay.
Beautifully remodeled kitchen with all necessary appliances and tools. Adjacent breakfast room with a unusual and fun feature - a huge white wall you can draw on! Beautiful patio just outside offers a quiet spot to relax in a retreat atmosphere. Large dining room with lots of space and a large dining table for a formal meal.
The spacious master bedroom with a Cal King size bed is on the top floor and has a large bathroom in suite. Beautiful views from the balcony.
Two spacious kids bedrooms on the lower level - one twin bed in each and a bathroom right in front.
The house is unusual in the sense that there is plenty of room, yet only four proper beds - 1 Cal King and 2 Twins. There is plenty of space though to put additional mattresses, and there is one gigantic and incredibly comfortable couch. Let me know the size of your party and I will respond with suggestions.
We are a family from Europe - after many years of living at different places, San Francisco won our hearts and became our home. We are a family of four - Stoyan is a software industry professional, Irina has her own landscaping business (you can search for Squared Root Landscaping) while Helen and Julia attend Chinese American International and University High School respectively.
The house has huge windows and lots of a skylights, so even on a grey day it is still filled with air and light. Beautiful views. And lots and lots of space.
We found this house to be very comfortable, clean and spacious and most of all very central and close to downtown. Irina, the owner was extremely kind, and gracious and very helpful, she answered all our questions and made our weeklong stay in SF unforgettable. Thank you Irina and Marina!!
Great neighborhood, close to downtown and great places to eat. The house is charming, clean and comfortable. The parking on the driveway is a big plus. The owner is very kind and gracious and always willing to help. Enjoyed every minute of our stay.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming house. We loved the driveway space after having spent previous days finding places to park near our first rental. The house was clean and just as it is presented in pictures. The backyard is an added treat! Loved the kitchen and bathrooms. We would definitely stay there next time if it is available. The owner is gracious and went out of her way to help.
Lovely home in quiet residential area, convenient access to freeway, but within walking distance to local area shops, grocery, restaurants. Comfortable, clean, we really enjoyed it and would stay there again.
Chose this place because it was near our daughter's house, but we were amply rewarded with a well appointed home with great kitchen and relaxing space, great sun and views. Our family loved it. We are VRBO veterans and this was a 10!
I was visiting San Francisco with an employee to attend a trade show at the Marriott Marquis and to do a bit of sight-seeing. Rather than rent 2 expensive rooms at the hotel and pay the exorbitant cost of parking, I found this wonderful home.
The off-street parking was the draw at first, but after staying here, I was pleased for so many other reasons.
As to location, the home is 15 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from the Moscone Center and the Marriott Marquis, and 15 minutes or so to the wharf. It was an hour’s drive to Napa.
As to accommodation, the upper floor is where you enter from the street. Here you will find the living room, den with TV, modern kitchen, bedroom with queen sized bed and a bathroom with tub that is entered from the common space. The kitchen was modern and the living room and den were perfect for unwinding after a busy day. The view from the rear deck offered a great view of the bay in the distance.
The lower floor offers a reading room, a bedroom suite with a queen sized bed and bathroom with shower, a bonus room that we used for ironing our clothes and the biggest walk in closet you would ever need. There is also access to the garage. While the garage is very small, it is also the space where the clothes washer and dryer are located. I would not plan on using this space to park a car.
There is access to the backyard from both floors. From the main/upper floor there is the deck that offers a breathtaking view of the bay and the surrounding hills. From the deck, you can go down stairs to reach the yard, which is nicely landscaped and has nice seating area with 2 Adirondack chairs.
The neighborhood is very hilly and offers a great opportunity to get some exercise. On our first morning we walked up the hill to Mount Davidson from which you are offered a view of the city in the distance. While the view is blocked by another mountain, it is worth the walk. Later the owner of the home told us about Twin Peaks which offered an even better view. We drove there on our way to the airport. It turns out that this was the mountain that blocked some of the view from Mount Davidson.
Anyway, I would highly recommend renting this home on your next visit to SF.
A few restaurants (French, Italian, Thai, American) are available in downtown Glen Park - 3min drive down Bosworth street or 10-15min walk.
Another dozen are available in West Portal, 7-8 min drive to the West of the house, as well as in Noe Valley, another 7-8 min drive to the North.
Our favorites s are:
Le P'tit Laurent on Diamond and Chenery, French
Regent Thai on Church strat 29th street, Thai
Eric's on Church str at 26th, Chinese
K's kitchen on Monterey and Ridgewood, Japanese
Tartine, Guerrero and 18th, French bakery - fabulous!
Bus 44 stops 3 blocks away - it will take you straight to Golden Gate Park and will deposit you in front of the De Young Museum.
BART (local fast train) has a stop in downtown Glen Park - it takes you to the city center (Union Square or the Ferry Building) in 10min. Parking is difficult in San Francisco, so leaving the car behind is not a bad idea. Walking to BART is 10-12min, the walk back to the house will take 15min as the street has two blocks of steep incline.
Highways 101 and 280 are very close - while you hear none of the noise the on-ramp is 2min away. The Ferry Building is 15min away by car. SFO airport is 15min.
The Zoo and Ocean Beach are 12min away by car as is spectacular Fort Funston. Bus 23 will take you straight there in 20min.
Twin Peaks outlook - not to be missed! - is 5min away. Glen Park, a beautiful natural canyon, is 3 blocks down the street.
