About Marcy and Ken

Recently retired and now living permanently in the Black Hills.

Marcy and Ken purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Marcy and Ken chose Black Hills

In 2005 my husband and I were looking for a place in the Black Hills for when we were able to retire that was centrally located to all that the Hills have to offer. We built this cabin and used it for our many vacations to the Black Hills. Being adjacent to the national forest we have enjoyed many beautiful hikes and abundant wildlife just outside our door way. Since we recently completed the building of our permanent home we are now able to share this piece of heaven with others.

Guestbook comments from the owner

From our guest book:

The cabin was a bonus on our stay! You guys thought of everything a person needed. Really enjoyed the morning view with coffee. Seeing the wildlife was relaxing. The cabin was cozy, our family was very relaxed when we walked in! The board games were a plus. A very peaceful and enjoyable stay. We will come back again and recommend anyone to stay. The weekend was just not enough time. Thanks you guys

Clean, cool, and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful little cabin, very clean and comfortable, we had everything that we needed for a perfect stay (the grill was in great condition for cooking, not like some of the places we have stayed). The cabin is in an ideal location, central to all of the activities and sights in the western part of the state. We watched the turkeys in the mornings with our coffee and the deer in the evenings with our cold drinks. Ken's suggestions about some of the scenic routes took us to a few locations that we would not have found and made our last day much more enjoyable. We were surprised that despite not having air conditioning, and with the outside temperatures in the 90's we could return to a cool inside temperature of 68. We hated to leave and would recommend this location to anyone visiting the area.

Peaceful and well-kept

  • 5 of 5

We had originally planned to stay in a hotel in Rapid City but changed our plans and rented this cabin instead. We're so glad we did! Great location to start and end our busy days touring the Black Hills. Peaceful, quiet, and thoughtfully kept. Ken and Marcy took the time to introduce themselves and be sure we had everything we needed. We would stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

Election Relief

  • 5 of 5

This place is perfect for relaxation. It has everything you need, it's super clean, and it feels sooooo comfortable! Bring along a good book or choose one of the fine videos for night entertainment, but try out star gazing if you really want to be amazed. Get a South Dakota steak at the wonderful grocery n Custer (only 4 miles) and fire up the grill---you will not be disappointed here!

Wonderful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful cabin in a great location that's close to town and state park. Has everything you need throughout the rooms and especially in the kitchen (cheese grater, crockpot). Very clean and well kept with a home-away-from-home feeling. Very nice covered patio to relax on after a long day of sight-seeing.

Owners are friendly and were easy to work with our reservation.

Lovely well equipped cabin

Convenient location to Mount Rushmore & Custer State Park, had everything needed for a comfortable stay and more, such as washer dryer. Night sky had more stars than I'd ever seen! Very comfortable.

We are spoiled for all future travels.....

  • 5 of 5

Having visited the Black Hills a year ago, and being fond of back roads and off-the-beaten-path places, we decided to come back to the area. I am moderately disabled and what attracted us to the cabin proved to be just the tip of the iceberg. EVERYTHING proved to be perfect for us, from easy accessibility (one step in) and location. We did not explore the town of Custer as the re-paving of Rte 16 proved to be quite a major deterrent, but we shopped at Krulls Market in Hill City and found lovely back roads connecting the 2 towns. For that matter, we preferred the back roads and ended up coming all the way back from Wind Cave Nat'l Park and never touched paved road! We realize we are not typical "family" travelers but seriously doubt anyone will find anything to complain about...
