Come and see why our many repeat guests say: 'We had a wonderful vacation! We'll be back next year!!'
Let the stress melt away and build vacation memories that will last a lifetime!
This family-owned property has seen 4 generations pass though its doors. Currently owned by Paul & Tom. The 'Lake House' was built by their father when they were only 2 & 4 years old.
They grew up spending their summers here - boating, waterskiing, swimming, sailing, and Skee-Ball & Air Hockey @ Weirs Beach! Hiking in the spring and fall. Skiing and skating in the winters.
Now the extended family spends as much time at the lake as they can, enjoying every minute of it. (And, yes, the kids still play Skee-Ball & Air Hockey!)
Our new kitchen combined with the updated living and dining areas is the focal point of the interior. While the whole family has worked in the construction industry for decades, Paul, who works for an upscale remodeling company, took it upon himself to create the perfect kitchen to match the existing space.
He spent countless hours designing the layout to maximize space within the challenging footprint as well as blend the materials to match the existing finishes in addition to creating a more modern and functional design..
Note how the espresso stencil in the cabinet panels match the existing, dark-stained beams (which were buried for decades behind sheetrocked ceiling prior to the project). Paul hand-picked the granite, backsplash tiles to match the colors of the granite fireplace. The lighting was chosen to be functional yet not be obtrusive to the overall design.
Paul, Tom, and longtime family friend, Todd, , and our families (and a pool of talented craftsmen) spent every weekend for almost 9 months pouring sweat and emotion into creating the space as you now see it. Every time we visit we smile with pride over the results. We hope you enjoy its beauty and functionality as much as we do!
While this home is spacious and very comfortable, what sets it apart is its location. Black Cat Island is located in Moultonborough, and it is bridged so you can drive your car here. It is calm and secluded on our side of the island, but to the west and south is open water. The water is calm and protected, but crystal clear. Many protected areas of the lake have stagnant water. Many open parts of the lake have heavy wind and boat chop. Our property has the unique combination of clear and calm waters, deep water dock, and shallow swimming, all with beautiful lake and mountain views. It is truly a special place.
Come spend a week or two and find out for yourself why this vacation home is a Black Cat Beauty!!!
In 50 years of vacationing at the lake my family and I have never had a more enjoyable time.
The Rizzo Family are the most responsive and accomodating owners we have encountered.
The home met all of our needs; from a well stocked kitchen to a well constructed large dock. It accomodated our family which ranged from 84 years old to 25.
The location provides easy access to town and is stunningly beautiful. We enjoyed the views of the mountains, the sunsets over Black Cat Island Bridge and smores at night around the fire pit while listening to the loons. An unusual highlight enjoyed by my son and wife while kayaking around Hull island was the sighting of 2 American bald eagles. We enjoyed fishing, skiing our annual swim at Braun Bay, breakfast by boat at Ames Farm Inn, and shopping and eating in Wolfboro and Meredith.
Friends of ours were also impressed by the property and location. They had wondered why we vacation every year on the lake. As we enjoyed breakfast on the deck they commented, " Now we understand."
The house sits on a great location on Black Cat - great sun in the afternoon and shade in the morning. Importantly, excellent sunsets with a great peninsula for cocktails and sunsets/bonfires. Boat dock is nice and big with deep water, swimming entry is sandy and decent for launching canoes/kayaks. The water is far calmer in this house's location than the south or west sides of Black Cat.
Inside, the kitchen is updated and all kitchen utensils/accessories are excellent quality. Bedrooms are decent size and beds are comfy. Great views from the master loft and living room.
For fisherman, we found excellent bass fishing close by near Blueberry Island - smaller ones off the dock.
I'd highly recommend this property. My family of 5, plus grandparents at various times, had a great stay there.
We loved watching the sunrises and the sunsets from the deck and the waterfront. Such a spectacular view. The house was perfect for our family and pets. The kitchen was, by far, the best stocked kitchen we have ever had at a rental. We enjoyed fires, fishing, kayaking and crazy game nights as a family. We can't wait to come back next year to create more great family memories! I highly recommend this property!
We had the most amazing vacation! We already can't wait to come back. If you are in any doubt to rent this house or not, do it! You will not be disappointed!
Our family (7 of us) had the most amazing vacation at this wonderful house! Everything about it was just fantastic from the amazingly well stocked kitchen to the wonderful fire pit by the water. We rented a boat and paddleboards and came with multiple kayaks and were happily surprised to see both another kayak and canoe already on the property. We all went out together one afternoon in the canoe and kayaks (everyone from the 10 month - 85 year old) and had a blast. The location of this house was absolutely perfect for us and we found it to be much quieter than other parts of the lake. We truly had a fantastic time!
We just spent a week in this house on Black Cat Island. It was better than advertised. We had as many as eight people sleeping there and there was plenty of room with the basement and main level providing two separate living areas. Great mountain views and easy access to the town of Meredith. Nice dock for our 23' pontoon boat that was easy to get in and out of. Like others have mentioned, a very well stocked kitchen - everything you need is already there. Fishing right off the dock was good as well as fishing around the Black Cat Island bridge.
