About Tom & Paul

The lake house was built by Tom and Paul's father when they were only four and two years old. They grew up spending their summers here - boating, waterskiing, swimming, sailing, and Skee-Ball & Air Hockey @ Weirs Beach! Hiking in the spring and fall. Skiing and skating in the winters.

Now the extended family spends as much time at the lake as they can, enjoying every minute of it. (And, yes, "the kids" still play Skee-Ball & Air Hockey!)

Tom & Paul purchased this house in 1971

Why Tom & Paul chose Moultonborough

This family-owned property has seen four generations pass though its doors. Currently owned by Paul & Tom.

Our families enjoy spending time at the lake and take pride in our home, frequently making improvements in the "off season."

Our new kitchen combined with the updated living and dining areas is the focal point of the interior. While the whole family has worked in the construction industry for decades, Paul, who works for an upscale remodeling company, took it upon himself to create the perfect kitchen to match the existing space.

He spent countless hours designing the layout to maximize space within the challenging footprint as well as blend the materials to match the existing finishes in addition to creating a more modern and functional design.

We hope you enjoy its beauty and functionality as much as we do!

And in 2017, we completely remodeled the lower level, including a new granite bathroom designed by Paul, hardwood floors, new furniture and additional finishes.

What makes this house unique

While this home is spacious and very comfortable, what sets it apart is its location. Black Cat Island is located in Moultonborough, and it is bridged so you can drive your car here. It is calm and secluded on our side of the island, but to the west and south is open water. The water is calm and protected, but crystal clear. Many protected areas of the lake have stagnant water. Many open parts of the lake have heavy wind and boat chop. Our property has the unique combination of clear and calm waters, deep water dock, and shallow swimming, all with beautiful lake and mountain views. It is truly a special place.

As this is our second home, we take pride in keeping the property in the best shape possible. Each off-season we aim to upgrade furniture, rooms, and features, ensuring the most comfortable stay for our guests.

Come spend a week or two and find out for yourself why this vacation home is a Black Cat Beauty!!!

Perfect Destination for our Staycation

  • 5 of 5

We spent a few days on Black Cat Island in early October and couldn't have asked for a better home. The home itself was clean, beautifully updated and had every amenity for a home away from home. What sold us - and why we will come back - is the location. Tucked away in a little cove, the water traffic was quiet, the water was clear and calm and the fire pit provided excellent evening relaxing. We also took several excursions around the area and were happy that this home provided such easy access to both larger towns on the lake and hiking trails and golf courses. We had a great time!

Owner's Response: Hi Megan! We're so glad you enjoyed the benefits of our sheltered 'bay'. Growing up it was a great place to swim & waterski - sheltered from the wind and boat chop yet large enough hone our waterskiing skills. We look forward to your returning to Black Cat Island. And - Thanks taking the time to write a review.

Peaceful relaxation, thorough enjoyment with family.

  • 5 of 5

It doesn't get much better than this. We launched our 14' boat on arrival at the Center Harbor public ramp and made the 2.5 mile ride to our rental. The home is well cared for and perfectly position on Black Cat Island to enjoy the views. Lake trout and small-mouth bass fishing produced more than two dozen fish in several trips on the boat during our week stay. We were all on the upper deck one morning when we watched 3 whitetail deer make their way across the only auto bridge that gives access to the small island. A bald eagle flew closely in front of home and we saw several others while out fishing. We also enjoyed sitting around the camp-fire by the crystal clear waters edge on into the evenings. Thanks Tom & Paul for a relaxing visit to your home. We hope to make it again in 2018.

We can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

Tom and Paul were fantastic to correspond with and were helpful and amenable. The house was perfect for our two family stay with friends. One family with 2 kids stayed downstairs and the other upstairs and overall the size and layout was great. The kitchen was stocked with great appliances, dishes and things, and it enabled us to have a very "at home" experience. Beds were comfortable, house was lovely and we absolutely fell in love with Lake Winnipesaukee. We also rented a boat for 2 days and explored the Lake and did too much tubing :) Black Cat Island is perfectly situated and the views were fabulous. Can't wait to go back!

Absolutely delightful.

  • 5 of 5

The location of this property is wonderful. We had such a good time just sitting on the great deck and watching the lake world go by. Plus, it was close enough to other activities--- restaurants, golf courses, stores, etc.---to be convenient. The house itself is gorgeous and the best equipped of any we have rented before. We hope to come again next year!
