Cross country ski or snowshoe on our private trails, right out your door. This 1 BR guest cottage is 4 miles from the Inn at Weathersfield named Fodors's Best Restaurant in VT. It is also 15 miles (about 25 minutes) from Okemo Mountain, With living room, kitchen, 1 bathroom, and one loft bedroom, there is room to sleep 4. Secluded among spruce and white pines, you can see the main house, woods, and meadows from your porch. Covered parking, dirt roads for running and biking, 10 minutes from the Connecticut River, 15 minutes from Ascutney mountain where the adventurous can enjoy backcountry powder at the closed ski resort. 30 minutes to Dartmouth College and Hanover, NH.
Currently, this cottage is not toddler friendly due to the lack of railing on the loft stairs. We will remedy this soon. The loft should also not be considered a very 'private' bedroom.
Standup shower, no bathtub.
We will share with you our 12 acres, containing the trails mentioned above, and in the summer, a lovely small pond for swimming, and a stream for swimming and exploring. A small sledding hill is perfect for the 5-10 year old set in the winter.
Numerous hiking trails minutes away in all seasons. Wonderful berry and apple picking minutes away also.
Although this is your excuse to 'unplug', Verizon cell service is very good, and WiFi is available. We live in the main house on the same property, and are happy to loan equipment such as xc skis, sleds, snowshoes, or anything else you may need. Please just ask!
For a quiet retreat, away from the crowds, but with easy access to the Okemo ski scene or Dartmouth activities, this is the place for you. A large 'tiny house'
If you are looking for a Getaway, this is the place. Owners are very nice and are only a text message away if you need anything. It is set back in the woods and is very private, clean, and the ideal rustic vermont Cabin. It sits on beautiful grounds. My friend and I drove up, its very close to nearby towns and food not far off the beaten path of 91, we skied Okemo and the drive is very scenic and short about 20 minutes Strongly recommend, I will be back For sure !
A true Vermont experience...right down to the wonderful Vermonters who will be your hosts. Beautiful location with lots of wonderful outdoor activities. A great place to enjoy the simple things in life.
We found the cabin somewhat better than described online and we were fully satisfied. It was a great location for a private get-away. The cabin has a really nice wood stove and one can watch the fire burn if desired. We had hoped to spend a few days relaxing from the maddening crowd, and the place was perfect in that regard. The location is quite good and whatever you may need (groceries to stock the refrigerator, places to dine out, locations to go for a hike etc) are all within a few miles. We went mid-October, during the peak foliage season so we were able to sit in the chairs outside of the cabin to sip on some wine or to have a simple beer. I would highly recommend this location for the season that we were there.
The Internet connection was weak and we don't know if that was a temporary router problem of some sort, but we were there to "un-plug" and didn't really care too much on that aspect of things. There is a carport right next to the cabin, so in winter your car or SUV won't get a lot of snow on it overnight. The cabin is about 200 yards off a good quality dirt road and you drive right past the owner's home. If any real problem were to arise, they are nearby.
We found the location a great launching point to explore a lot of areas around Wethersfield, so be sure to take advantage of it. We will likely stay there again at some point when we return to Vermont.
Lovely little cabin in a wonderful, idyllic setting. Well-maintained and clean with lots of little "homey" touches. Bedroom smallish but adequate and bed VERY comfortable. Sitting area quite nice, bathroom a creative use of space with everything you need. We didn't use the kitchen but it had all necessary appliances and seemed to be well stocked with dishes, flatware, etc. Lovely grounds and wonderful owners...very helpful and attuned to our needs. We stayed for just a weekend (family reunion event) and would be happy to return. Highly recommend!
Great quiet cabin. We stayed on our way from Burlington back to Ohio and it was a great respite and calming experience. Beautiful grounds, gracious hosts, not too far off the beaten path. Well appointed and lots of space. It was us and our two kids and we had more than enough room.
We loved our stay in this sweet little cabin! I was there in September so I didn't need the heat or the woodstove but it was cozy and inviting. It has all you really need for a long weekend or week. The cabin was clean and well maintained. The owners were friendly and provided linens, soaps and paper products.
There is a wi fi connection for those that can't get away from work. Also a small refrigerator, dishes, pot n pans and a wood stove for chilly days. No TV! Yeah!
It feels quite private even though the owners house is nearby.
It is an easy drive to Okemo about 25 minutes, or Sunapee about 40 minutes. The location is down a scenic dirt road about 1 mile off the main road and 7 miles to I-91. Also beautiful rivers for fly fishing or canoeing or kayaks, and lovely drives and hikes for fall foliage.
I will definitely come back!
Thanks to Robin and Colin who were very helpful.
